Chapter 79
Furuya 0: I'm really not bad, okay?
In response to Furuya Rei's greeting, Jonah's immediate reaction was to draw his gun and aim.
If Jonah hadn't caught a glimpse of Dave cooking in the kitchen on the side of the living room out of the corner of his eye, that bullet would have definitely hit Furuya Rei squarely.
"That's quite a warm greeting, little Jonathan."
Shaking his head with a wry smile, seeing that Jonah still showed no sign of moving the gun away from him, Rei Furuya sighed and yelled irritably at Dave in the kitchen, "Hey, Dave, you bastard, aren't you going to come over and explain this to me? Are you only happy after he actually shoots me?!"
"The Jonathan brothers should beat you to death, you treacherous bastard! You said you were my friend, but you lied to me from the very beginning!"
"I had no other choice! Besides, haven't I been good enough to you? I'm a public security officer, a public security police officer protecting Japan's safety! I've already failed the oath I swore to the badge by not taking my men and arresting you, this guy who sells weapons and intelligence in Tokyo and takes on assassination missions!"
"Really? That's amazing. I never expected to find such a virtuous person in my safe house, someone who vowed to protect the people and the country. I feel so ashamed of my own stature that I want to die. I'll turn myself in to the Japanese police in a bit, confess my crimes, and try to turn over a new leaf and start anew."
"...Dave, you bastard, you're disgusting! Like before, even though I told you I was here to explain, you pretended not to know and just started hitting me!"
"Hit you? The first reaction to something suspicious is to hit it, what's wrong with that? Jonathan, what do you think?"
"I can shoot, and I also have a dagger if that's inconvenient."
Although he didn't quite understand their conversation, Jonah could tell from the atmosphere that the policeman who had protected him yesterday didn't seem to be an enemy, so he put his pistol away.
"Did you hear that? My brother said we should have shot them."
Dave placed a large plate of steak on the coffee table and asked Jonah if he wanted some. After receiving an affirmative answer, he grabbed an extra set of cutlery and took out a newly bought orange juice from the refrigerator and poured Jonah a full glass.
"Where's mine?" Seeing that he didn't have his own knife and fork, Rei Furuya looked at Dave and asked.
"I don't have anything to eat for the police."
"You bastard."
With a headache, Rei Furuya scratched his head, but he couldn't get angry. He could only sit helplessly to the side and watch Dave and Jonah eat steak.
Their attention was mainly focused on Jonah. After parting ways yesterday, Furuya Rei had his subordinate Kazami Yuya carefully investigate whether there were any particularly young individuals among the assassins and outsiders active in the Tokyo area recently.
However, after a whole night of investigation, Rei Furuya found nothing. Among the intelligence that the Public Security Bureau could investigate, there was no mention of any child killer, which made Rei Furuya even more curious about Jonah's existence.
Although he really wanted to find an opportunity to rip off the hood that Jonah was currently wearing over his mouth and see what Jonah's true face was like, Furuya Rei knew that if he really did that, then his friendship with Dave would truly come to an end.
"Dave, how do you know the police?"
"I guess I'm just unlucky. Jonathan, you know I came all the way from America to Japan to get revenge on that damn organization. I arrived in Japan three years ago, and I was trying to make a name for myself in Tokyo's underworld when I ran into this bastard who was on some kind of mission."
Dave gestured with a fork at Rei Furuya, not caring that Rei was present, and casually recounted how the two met.
"I saw him kill an organization member that I had spent a month tracking down, so I treated his gunshot wound and took the blame for the murder. After that, he contacted me."
"At first, I thought he was an undercover agent sent by another force to infiltrate that organization and cause trouble. I thought having such an inside man would make my operations against that organization easier. Who would have thought that this bastard was actually an undercover agent sent by the Japanese Public Security Bureau!"
"An undercover agent within the organization? Is he an undercover agent within that organization?"
Jonah's eyes widened instantly as he looked in surprise at Rei Furuya, who had noticed his gaze and was giving him a helpless smile. He never expected to encounter such a talented person.
"But don't undercover agents need to conceal their identities?"
"I did need to conceal my identity, but this bastard knows who I am, and I can't do anything to him. I owe him a favor, so I have no choice but to confess."
With a helpless sigh, watching Dave and Jonah eat with such relish, Furuya Rei didn't stand on ceremony. He got up, went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and fork, sat back down on the sofa, and even with Dave's disgusted expression, picked up a piece of steak for himself.
"So, little Jonathan, could you keep it a secret that I'm in the police force? I heard from Dave that you're also involved in hostile actions against that organization, so we're in cahoots, right?"
"I don't want to associate with stupid people."
Although what Furuya Rei said made sense, Jonah couldn't help but look at Furuya Rei with some suspicion, considering his strange behavior at the construction site.
"Haha, it seems I've really been underestimated, little brother Jonathan. I'm not a bad person, at least I'm a bit better than this big guy next to you."
"Oh, really?"
Jonah gave a soft reply, put down the steak in his mouth, and without any warning, quickly drew the pistol from his back and pointed it at Furuya Rei.
Rei Furuya reacted quickly, releasing his knife and fork and reaching forward with both hands just as the gun was about to be pointed directly at him, snatching the pistol from Jonah's hand.
Jonah was taken away, but he didn't panic. Realizing that he couldn't compete with the strength of the adult in front of him, he decisively released the pistol, pulled out another pistol from his pocket, and pointed it at the head of the other man, Furuya Rei.
"See? I'm pretty good at fighting, aren't I?"
Amazed by Jonah's actions, Furuya Rei slowly raised the muzzle of his gun, then smiled as he ejected the bullet, placed the pistol on the coffee table, and pushed it in front of Jonah.
"That's impressive."
Nodding slowly, Jonah was indeed impressed by Furuya Rei's move. In this light, his 'stupid' behavior at the construction site was indeed due to his distraction while protecting himself.
"Thank you for wanting to protect me before."
"How polite. Don't mention it. Looking back now, I was just being presumptuous. Even without me, little Jonathan wouldn't have been in any danger."
"Let's get to know each other again. My name is Tooru Amuro, and I'm a public security police officer in Japan. I'm currently on an undercover mission in a very evil organization. It's nice to meet you, little brother Jonathan."
"Hello, Mr. Amuro, I am a child soldier, it's nice to meet you."
