Chapter 54

The Detective Who Used Every Trick

Although Jonah was somewhat disappointed that he couldn't get a sniper rifle from Cohen, he was very satisfied with the replenishment of bullets, smoke grenades, flashbangs, and even a piece of emergency C4 explosive.

Jonah skipped and hopped to Professor Agasa's house. Seeing Conan Edogawa and Ai Haibara sitting in the living room, Jonah didn't tell them that Conan had been following him. Instead, he happily showed them his haul for the day, deliberately trying to annoy Conan.

While Jonah wouldn't actually be angry about Conan Edogawa following him, he knew Conan's personality and had never really supported him possessing these illegal and dangerous items.

However, Jonah wouldn't mind if he slightly annoyed Conan Edogawa and made him look frustrated.

Who told Conan Edogawa to try and trick him into revealing information first, and then try to follow him?

"Hey Jonah, you have to promise me that unless it's absolutely necessary, you really shouldn't use these things so carelessly, okay?"

As Jonah loaded bullets into the magazine, Ai Haibara even reached out to help. Conan Edogawa sighed, and having nothing else to do, he took an empty magazine and helped load the bullets.

"I know that I can deal with ordinary enemies using a dagger and an electric gun."

"A dagger... well, a dagger it is then. But as long as it renders the opponent incapable of resisting, that's fine. Don't go around cutting their tendons or hamstrings all the time."

"But that's the fastest way."

"Criminals also have human rights, Jonah. What you did will put the police in a difficult position. If the criminals insist on prosecuting you later, you will be in big trouble."

Why should the police listen to bad guys?

"...Because, never mind, just try to use the electric gun to fire the tranquilizer darts. Even if you use a dagger, don't attack vital organs, okay?"

"Um."

Seeing Conan Edogawa's constipated expression again, Jonah knew he couldn't keep asking questions. Otherwise, if Conan really wanted to explain things to him, he would definitely keep him there for at least 3 hours straight.

Most importantly, Jonah himself couldn't understand it.

"Okay, just remember that. Actually, Jonah, you've done quite well these past few times."

Seeing that Jonah was still cooperating, Conan Edogawa took a deep breath, smiled and nodded to encourage him.

Sometimes Conan Edogawa felt that he shouldn't be so strict with Jonah. As a young soldier, Jonah had already adapted to life in civilized society and had complied with many of their requirements.

Thinking about it carefully, every time Jonah picked up a weapon, it was to protect them. With that thought, Conan Edogawa felt a little guilty.

"However, we need to be even more careful from now on. After all, if the prisoners you handed over to the police, Jonah, are all harmed, then the police will also..."

While talking, he loaded bullets. When he ran out of bullets, Conan Edogawa subconsciously rummaged through his backpack and pulled out a sealed "small brick" with a puzzled look.

Conan Edogawa couldn't see anything through the packaging, but looking at the electric detonator that was separately sealed in a transparent bag, he suddenly felt like his brain was lacking oxygen.

Given Conan Edogawa's vast knowledge, it was impossible for him not to know what this was. So, after a moment of silence, Conan couldn't help but stand up, holding the C4 explosive in his hand, and glared at Jonah, shouting loudly.

"Jonah! What have you brought back this time?!"

......

"Hey, Kudo, what's wrong with you? You're so unhappy when you see me. You've had a gloomy face the whole way, like someone owes you money."

After tumbling down from the truck bed, Hattori Heiji stretched and looked around to see everyone in front of the truck. He then bent down, poked Edogawa Conan's arm, and asked in a low voice.

"Did you find out about that strange black organization again? If you need any help, just tell me, I can help you."

"It's not a problem with that organization, it's something else."

Shaking his head, Conan Edogawa hesitated for a moment, looking at Heiji Hattori's curious face, but still didn't tell Heiji that Jonah had not only been fiddling with the guns, but had also brought back a piece of C4.

Although Conan Edogawa had accepted the safe placement of the C4 explosive in the room that had become Jonah's personal "storage room" with great tolerance (mainly because the die was cast and Jonah was not going to return it), the thought of Jonah's increasingly audacious behavior gave him a headache.

Last time it was firearms and ammunition, this time it's C4, what will you bring back for me next time, Jonah?

Rocket launcher? High-explosive grenade? Or Gatling gun?

Conan Edogawa is truly exhausted and doesn't know how to persuade Jonah that Japan isn't as dangerous as he imagines. Although he always encounters cases, it's because he and Kogoro Mouri are both detectives. Detectives and cases are somehow intertwined, so compared to others, they encounter slightly more cases and dangers.

However, most of the dangers they encounter do not require the use of guns to resolve!

With such mixed feelings, Conan Edogawa was somewhat absent-minded when asking for information for the first time. During meals, he kept talking to Jonah in a low voice, trying to get Jonah's approval, even under Heiji Hattori's curious gaze. He thought that in civilized society, one really wouldn't encounter danger so often.

Because of this, Conan Edogawa didn't even go to see the moon with Ran Mouri, letting her leave in the truck driven by the foreigner.

"So, Jonah, do you understand what I mean?"

"I see."

"That's good..." Before he could finish speaking, chaos suddenly broke out in the courtyard. Conan Edogawa looked at Heiji Hattori who was running over and asked him what was wrong. He learned that the eldest brother of the family had suddenly gone missing.

After searching for a while, the group ran to the warehouse with the open door. After using an axe to break open the locked storage room on the second floor, they saw the eldest brother, who was entangled in thin fishing line, as if he had been killed by a spider demon.

Upon seeing the corpse before him, Conan Edogawa's eyes sharpened, and he immediately turned to look at Jonah, who was following behind him.

When Conan Edogawa saw Jonah standing there expressionless, but his right hand was already subtly reaching towards his back, he painfully closed his eyes.

Conan Edogawa knew very well how Jonah's weapons were distributed: the tranquilizer gun was tucked under his belt at his lower back, while the dagger was wrapped tightly around his back.

So, when faced with danger, is the first reaction still to trust a sharpened dagger rather than a tranquilizer gun?

Jonah, you're really something else (gritting his teeth)!
