Chapter 47

Show Me One More Laugh

"Conan, didn't you see who the killer was?"

"No, it was raining at the time, and the murderer was wearing a very thick and long raincoat and a hat, so I couldn't even tell if he was male or female."

Shaking his head, Conan Edogawa was also very annoyed. Someone had actually killed a policeman right in front of him. This was simply unforgivable!

Even though Conan Edogawa was furious, he couldn't identify the culprit. The culprit became increasingly arrogant and even attacked a police officer, causing widespread panic. Television stations' interview vans arrived at the Metropolitan Police Department, hoping to get a direct answer from the department.

"You guys really have bad luck with Officer Shiratori's sister, having to choose such a day to get married."

"What can we do? The date was set a month ago, and then this happened all of a sudden."

"That's why I said I was unlucky."

"It's okay, it's not a formal wedding, it's just a wedding celebration."

Inside the hotel elevator, Kogoro Mouri, Sonoko Suzuki, and Ran Mouri chatted amongst themselves, while Jonah watched the elevator ascend higher and higher with amusement.

At the entrance of the auditorium, Jonah also saw Eri Kisaki, who had also been invited to attend. He happily ran to Eri's side and greeted her.

"Hi Jonah, you seem to be in a good mood."

Smiling, Eri patted Jonah's hair. Since they had met, Eri naturally decided to join Jonah and the others.

Throughout the banquet, the atmosphere was clearly divided into two parts. The normal guests were enjoying the banquet, but the atmosphere on the police side was very heavy. Everyone had a gloomy face and was looking around warily.

Jonah found it a little strange, but his attention was soon drawn to the delicious food at the banquet.

As the banquet was about to end, Ran Mouri said she needed to use the restroom and left alone. Jonah didn't think much of it. Even with his vigilance, he didn't believe that anyone would carry out any terrorist act in a hotel full of police officers.

Then, with an explosion, the entire floor lost power.

The dish in his hand fell to the ground. Jonah turned on the flashlight on his watch, quickly pinpointed the location of Kogoro Mouri and the others, and then, realizing what was happening, rushed out of the banquet hall to the restroom to look for Ran Mouri.

Jonah's ears twitched; he thought he heard gunshots. He quickened his pace and rushed into the women's restroom.

Just then, the lights came back on, and Jonah's pupils contracted sharply as he looked at Ran Mouri and Miwako Sato lying in a pool of blood.

After confirming Ran Mouri's condition and finding that she was not injured but simply unconscious, Jonah immediately began to check on Miwako Sato's condition.

Compared to Ran Mouri, Miwako Sato's condition was much more serious, with several gunshot wounds and profuse bleeding.

"What's wrong, Xiaolan?!"

"Sato! What's wrong with Sato?!"

Kogoro Mouri and Juzo Inspector Megure, who arrived a step too late, were also shocked by the horrific scene and immediately called for the police officers outside to call an ambulance.

Jonah ignored everyone else. He knew Sato Miwako. Several times when he went to the Metropolitan Police Department to give statements, this woman had entertained them and prepared snacks for them, so Jonah had a good impression of her.

Jonah took off his backpack, retrieved a first-aid kit, and began providing first aid to Sato Miwako amidst the surprised gazes of the others.

The bullet cannot be removed in this environment, so the most important thing now is to stop the bleeding!

"Megure, this child?"

Shocked by Jonah's practiced movements, Toshiro Odagiri, the highest-ranking officer on the scene, turned to Inspector Megure and asked instinctively.

"This child is named Jonah. He is a very special child. I will report the details to you later, Minister."

"Alright."

The ambulance arrived quickly, and the emergency doctors were surprised to find that the first aid measures taken for Sato Miwako were very effective, which bought them a lot of time for the rescue.

"Seal off all entrances and exits!"

"Everyone present, except the children, must undergo gun smoke testing, including the police! And this bastard over here!"

Having taken over command of the scene, the furious Toshiro Odagiri began directing operations. "Shooting one of our officers in front of so many police officers is absolutely unacceptable."

In a bad mood, Toshiro Odagiri looked at his carefree son and cursed him out.

Faced with the angry Toshiro Odagiri, Toshiya Odagiri instead gave a disdainful laugh, as if mocking the police for their incompetence.

Of course, he only smiled for a moment.

砰-

A wine bottle shattered on Toshiya Odagiri's head, causing him to collapse to the ground, clutching his head and groaning in pain.

The sudden accident startled the police officers present, but when they saw that the person who did it was Jonah, who had just rescued Sato Miwako, they all looked away, their faces expressionless as if they hadn't seen anything.

"You, you dare hit me!"

"I accidentally dropped it."

Jonah was also in a bad mood, coldly watching Toshiya Odagiri. Ran Mouri had collapsed in front of him and been taken to the hospital, and Jonah was still unable to leave. As the first person to arrive at the scene, Jonah would have to be questioned later.

And yet this ungrateful wretch dared to sit here and laugh when everyone was angry.

Jonah, growing angrier the more he thought about it, disregarded his surroundings and reached out with his still-blood-stained hand to grab a bottle of red wine.

"Jonah! If you want to wash your hands, go to the restroom over there. Don't wash your hands with alcohol, or you'll slip and break the alcohol bottle, and your uncle will scold you."

Although Conan Edogawa felt relieved to see this, there were still so many police officers around. One bottle was one thing, but another one would really be like dancing in a minefield.

He pulled Jonah to the bathroom to wash his hands, and Conan Edogawa's face darkened.

"Jonah, you were the first one to get to the bathroom. What did you find?"

"No, I heard footsteps running away, but I was worried about Sister Xiaolan, so I didn't chase after them."

"It's alright, you did a lot. Saving lives is the most important thing. The doctors said that without your emergency hemostasis, Officer Sato's condition would have been dangerous."

The subsequent gunpowder smoke test did not involve Jonah or Conan Edogawa. Although the questioning was detailed, the police treated Jonah very well.

After all, Jonah not only rescued Miwako Sato, but also taught Toshiya Odagiri a lesson when everyone else was too inconvenient to take action. It can be said that every police officer present, even if they were in a bad mood, would force a smile when they saw Jonah.

Unfortunately, this smile could not be transferred to Jonah's face.

When they arrived at the hospital with Kogoro Mouri and met Ran Mouri, she looked at them with a confused expression and asked, "Who are you?"

Jonah's face turned completely cold.

He has never wanted to kill anyone as much as he does now!
