Chapter 26
This kid is too professional
Judging the distance to be about 30 meters, Jonah rushed forward and crouched down without hesitation, aiming his gun at Michiwaki Masahiko, who was roaring and charging forward, in a very standard crouching shooting position.
With a swift and decisive three-round burst, two bullets struck Masahiko Michiwaki in the face, and one hit his neck.
The powerful tranquilizer dart produced by Dr. Agasa shattered instantly, emitting a cloud of red smoke, causing Masahiko Michiwaki to cough involuntarily. However, he quickly realized something was wrong and began to sway in place.
Although he didn't know what had happened, Makoto Kyogoku, who had never intended to let Masahiko Michiwaki go, didn't miss the opportunity. He launched himself forward, jumped up, and delivered a flying kick that sent Masahiko Michiwaki flying. He crashed into a tree trunk not far away and immediately lost consciousness.
It's unclear whether Michiwaki Masahiko was knocked unconscious by Jonah's tranquilizer dart or by Kyogoku Makoto's kick.
"Sonoko, are you alright?"
Panting, Ran ran to Sonoko's side. She checked Sonoko's body from head to toe, and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that she was not injured. Then she hugged Sonoko tightly.
"I'm so sorry, Sonoko! I actually let you leave alone. I'm such a terrible person!"
"What? Xiaolan, why are you feeling guilty? Don't be like that kid Jonah."
Smiling and shaking her head, Sonoko Suzuki patted Ran Mouri's shoulder, trying to comfort her best friend.
However, she couldn't help but look at Makoto Kyogoku standing to the side, and seeing the dagger still stuck in his arm, she asked him with concern.
"Um, are you alright?"
"I'm fine."
Pushing up his glasses, Makoto Kyogoku, seeing Sonoko Suzuki's worried gaze, looked away somewhat embarrassedly and instead looked at Masahiko Michiwaki, who was being handcuffed by the police.
Just as Sonoko Suzuki was about to say something, a rustling sound coming from the bushes nearby caught everyone's attention.
The next moment, Jonah appeared, holding a tranquilizer gun. Instead of putting everyone at ease, he made everyone present widen their eyes.
"Jonah, what is that thing in your hand?!"
Ran Mouri stared in shock at the tranquilizer gun in Jonah's hand, her voice trembling. She couldn't believe her eyes, and the others were stunned as well.
There was no way around it; Professor Agasa's workmanship was indeed too outstanding. From the outside, the tranquilizer gun in Jonah's hand was no different from a real gun. In addition, everyone present had indeed heard a sound similar to the firing of a gun, albeit a faint one.
Even faster than Ran Mouri was Conan Edogawa. Although he knew that Professor Agasa was helping Jonah make some gadgets that could be used for self-defense without causing harm, Conan Edogawa really didn't know about this tranquilizer gun!
He rushed to Jonah's side, took the gun, and carefully examined it before letting out a sigh of relief.
"Sister Ran, it's not a real gun, it's a toy gun. It was probably made by Professor Agasa for Jonah."
Hearing this, Ran Mouri and Sonoko Suzuki finally relaxed. They were genuinely worried that Jonah had somehow gotten his hands on a real gun, and based on their understanding of Jonah, this was quite possible.
"Was that strange bullet that hit this guy just fired by you? You're really something, little brother."
As the person who had just faced Michiwaki Masahiko directly, Kyogoku Makoto clearly saw the tranquilizer dart hit Michiwaki Masahiko's face and couldn't help but look at Jonah in amazement.
As a boy, it's hard not to be interested in firearms. Makoto Kyogoku himself has played shooting games, but his accuracy is rather embarrassing.
Jonah's ability to accurately hit the target with three shots from a distance of 30 meters surprised Makoto Kyogoku, who had some knowledge of firearms and shooting.
"Hmm, you're injured?"
Jonah felt a little embarrassed in front of Makoto Kyogoku, since he had previously considered Kyogoku the prime suspect, only to find out it was a huge misunderstanding.
"Yes, but it's okay, I'll get it bandaged up when I get home..."
Talking to Jonah was much easier than talking to Sonoko Suzuki. Kyogoku Makoto looked at the dagger on his arm and was about to pull it out when he saw Jonah take off his backpack and take out a series of first aid supplies, including bandages, disinfectant alcohol, and sanitary napkins.
Shocked, Makoto Kyogoku did not object to Jonah's request and obediently sat down in front of Jonah.
Jonah didn't hold back. Before anyone could react, he snatched the dagger from Makoto Kyogoku's hand. The swift and decisive action made the onlookers shudder and instinctively clutch their arms.
"The wound doesn't look too big. My suturing skills aren't very good. You should go to the hospital and have a doctor stitch it up."
"Um, thank you, little friend. Your name is Jonah, right?"
As Jonah expressionlessly put away the needle and thread used to stitch his wound, Makoto Kyogoku blinked blankly, looking at his treated wound and becoming even more curious about Jonah.
"Um."
Jonah nodded slightly to Makoto Kyogoku. He wasn't good at apologizing to strangers, so he expressed his remorse for misunderstanding Makoto Kyogoku directly through his actions.
What happened next obviously had nothing to do with Jonah. After seeing that Kyogoku Makoto's wounds had been treated, Suzuki Sonoko couldn't help but come to Kyogoku Makoto's side to ask why he had protected her like that.
Makoto Kyogoku didn't back down either, and expressed his feelings for Sonoko Suzuki in very straightforward language, making Sonoko blush instantly.
Seeing that it was another romantic relationship issue, Jonah wasn't interested and started packing his things. Just as he was about to zip up his backpack, he saw Conan Edogawa walking up to him with a smile.
"Thank you for your hard work, Jonah."
"It wasn't hard work."
"Is that so? Anyway, it's good that you can control prisoners without harming them. But you and the doctor are really going too far. You didn't even tell me about this invention."
"I forgot, but Haibara knows."
"Does Haibara know? Okay..."
Blinking, Conan Edogawa's smile faded as he looked at Jonah, who was rambling on and not speaking. He then reached out his hand to Jonah with a hint of annoyance.
"Alright, take out the knife. Don't think I didn't see it. You hid that dagger while you were treating Kyogoku Makoto's wounds, didn't you!"
"Putting everything else aside, that thing might be a murder weapon; it needs to be handed over to the police. You can't take it with you!"
"..." Blinking, Jonah saw Conan Edogawa's serious expression and silently opened his backpack, took out a crumpled towel, and unfolded it to reveal a dagger inside.
"I thought nobody wanted me."
"Jonah is the one who told me that good children don't lie!"
"I'm not a good kid."
"Jonah!"
