Chapter 92
Jonah: If you don't help now, you're in for a world of trouble later!
"Oh, Jonah, Conan, you're back! Dinner will be ready soon!"
Wearing an apron, Ran Mouri smiled at Jonah and Conan Edogawa as they walked in through the door, but suddenly noticed that Conan's expression was particularly unpleasant.
"Conan, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
"No, Sister Xiaolan, I just caught a bit of a chill from eating ice cream during the day. I'll be fine after resting for a while."
Inui smiled as he looked at Ran Mouri. Having been stared at by Jonah with the same look he had for an insect the whole way, Conan Edogawa's mental state was now at its lowest possible level.
If it weren't for the difficulty in explaining, he wouldn't even want to eat dinner right now; he just wants to go straight back to bed, pull the covers over his head, and sleep without caring about anything else.
Once I wake up, a new day begins! Everything that happened today must have been a dream!
"Sister Xiaolan."
Ignoring Conan Edogawa, who was thrown into a daze by the attack, Jonah walked slowly into the kitchen and reached out to tug at Ran Mouri's apron.
"What's wrong, Jonah? Are you hungry? I have some fried chicken nuggets here, would you like some?"
Smiling at Jonah, Ran Mouri gently picked up a piece of fried chicken with her fingers, dipped it in some egg white sauce, and brought it to Jonah's mouth.
Jonah blinked, opened his mouth and bit into the chicken nugget. After chewing a couple of times, he puffed out a few breaths of hot air.
"Is it delicious? Just wait a little longer and we can eat together!"
"It's delicious, but that's not what I wanted to talk about."
"Hmm? What's that?"
With a puzzled look, Ran Mouri looked at Jonah curiously, wondering why Jonah had suddenly walked up to her so seriously.
Jonah was always a very obedient and well-behaved child, except when he was in danger he would become more dangerous.
Ran Mouri didn't think Jona had done anything outrageous, otherwise Conan Edogawa, who had returned with Jona, wouldn't have been so calm.
"Ran-neechan, Shinichi Kudo... I will definitely marry you someday."
"Hey! Jonah, what nonsense are you talking about!" Ran Mouri's face flushed instantly. She hadn't expected Jonah to say something like that, so she covered her face with her hands and shook her head shyly.
However, this time Jonah didn't care about Ran Mouri's shyness and still spoke seriously, while his eyes subtly glanced at Conan Edogawa, whose eyes were twitching involuntarily in the living room.
"He must marry you, or I will kill him."
"...Jonah, can you tell me what happened?"
The shyness on her face vanished instantly. Ran Mouri stared in shock, her eyes widening. She quickly squatted down, placed her hands on Jonah's shoulders, and asked nervously.
"..." Jonah paused for a moment. He had only felt that Conan Edogawa should be more responsible towards Ran Mouri, so he spoke his mind. But now, faced with Ran Mouri's question, Jonah didn't know how to answer for a moment.
Jonah glanced instinctively at Conan Edogawa in the living room, only to find that Conan was staring at him coldly with a faint smile in his eyes, as if to say, "You ignored me on your way home, and now you want me to make up an excuse for you? No way~".
Blinking, Jonah knew that Conan Edogawa wouldn't offer him any help. He turned to look at Ran Mouri, whose eyes were filled with worry, knowing that this time he would have to come up with an excuse that would satisfy Ran.
Jonah's brain raced, and although he had failed with Chianti and Dave before, he still felt that diverting attention was a good way to have a conversation.
So, what kind of content could make Ran Mouri overlook the fact that she was saying something as dangerous as wanting to kill Shinichi Kudo?
Jonah, his eyes flickering slightly, remained silent for a moment before slowly speaking amidst Ran Mouri's worried gaze and Conan Edogawa's amused expression.
"When I was at Dr. Agasa's house, I heard Shinichi talking to Conan on the phone, and I could hear a very intimate woman's voice on the other end of the line."
The atmosphere in the room changed instantly upon hearing this. Ran Mouri's eyes were no longer filled with worry, but instead with a murderous intent that surprised even Jonah. Conan Edogawa, who had been watching the show, broke out in a cold sweat, his eyes nearly popping out of his head, unable to believe that Jonah had spoken so arrogantly without any warning.
Jonah! Are you trying to destroy me?!
He instinctively wanted to retort, but Jonah didn't give Conan Edogawa a chance to speak.
"I don't think this is right, because Shinichi is going to confess to Ran, which means Shinichi likes Ran. Since he has someone he likes, he shouldn't get too close to other women."
"He's talking nonsense! I...Shinichi-nii isn't dating any girls!"
"Oh, so it's not just a woman, but a young girl."
With a smile and a nod, Ran Mouri patted Jonah's hair, slowly stood up, and turned her gaze to Conan Edogawa, who was sweating profusely.
"Conan, how can you swear like that? What did Shinichi offer you to help me keep this from me?"
"Little, Little Lan, really, it's not him! It's Jonah who's..."
"You're not saying Jonah is lying, are you? Conan, you've disappointed me so much! When has Jonah ever lied to us? He's always been an honest boy!"
Blinking, Jonah met the gazes of Ran Mouri and Conan Edogawa, nodded slowly, and said calmly, "I'm a good boy. Aunt Eri said that good boys don't lie."
Staring blankly at Jonah, Conan Edogawa couldn't help but raise his hand, which trembled violently as he pointed at Jonah.
At this moment, Conan Edogawa felt a sharp pain in his heart, even more so than when Gin forced him to drink APTX-4869.
However, the famous detective no longer had the time or energy to condemn the young soldier who had first stabbed him in the back and then betrayed him.
Now he was facing the captain of the Teitan High School Karate Club, the champion of the Kanto Region Karate Tournament, the Battalion Commando, the Mouri-san, the Valkyrie who could smash telephone poles with her fists and kick security doors with her legs.
"Conan, there's still some time before dinner. Come to my room, let's have a good chat~"
"...good."
"You answered too quietly, I couldn't hear you!"
"Yes, Sister Xiaolan!"
......
"Conan, would you like some chocolate too?"
On the train to Osaka, Jonah looked at Conan Edogawa, who had a resentful expression and whose resentment seemed to solidify into a tangible form. After thinking for a moment, Jonah generously broke off half of the chocolate in his hand and handed it to him.
"Jonah, it's no use trying to please me now."
"Why should I flatter you?" Jonah tilted his head, looking at Conan Edogawa with some confusion, and asked, "I only spoke up because Conan did something wrong. Does that mean I should pretend I didn't see you do something wrong next time, Conan?"
"Uh, that's not what I meant, sorry."
"It's okay."
"...Wait! It's true I did something wrong, but what about lying to me and tricking me?"
"...Conan, would you like some chocolate?"
"Damn it, I won't eat it! Look me in the eyes and answer me!"
