Chapter 776

The Uninvited Guest in the Night

Following Conan Edogawa to the infirmary on the Hotaka, Jonah saw Ran Mouri resting on the bed and Sonoko Suzuki sitting next to her, chatting quietly with her.

"Jonah's here! Come here and let your big sister praise you. You're amazing! You actually managed to find Lan."

When she saw Jonah coming over, Sonoko Suzuki's eyes lit up. She waved to Jonah and then picked him up and rubbed her face against his cheek.

"Sonoko-neechan, put me down."

After struggling for a moment, Jonah still didn't dare to use force and could only pitifully let Sonoko Suzuki put him down.

"Sister Xiaolan, how are you feeling now? Are you still cold?"

Finally settling down, Jonah walked to the bedside and looked at Ran Mouri, who was lying on the bed covered with a blanket. Her complexion was much better than when she was found in the sea.

"I'm not cold anymore. Sonoko helped me change into a clean set of clothes, and the doctor prescribed some medicine for me. I've been lying down for a while now, and I feel much more comfortable."

With a smile and a shake of her head, Ran Mouri was in a good mood. She had been a little scared in the ocean, but fortunately, Kaito Kuroba's communication was fast enough, and Jonah and the others reacted even faster, so Ran didn't suffer too much.

"I heard from Sonoko that the spy has been caught."

"Yes, we caught it."

"That's good."

After exchanging a few words with Ran Mouri, Jonah noticed that she was still somewhat tired and sleepy, so he obediently pulled Conan Edogawa away from the medical room, leaving Sonoko Suzuki to stay with Ran in the room.

"Jonah, that Yagi-no-Island you guys bombed this morning, didn't you?"

Now it's just Jonah and Conan Edogawa. Conan Edogawa can no longer contain his curiosity and wants to know what Jonah and the others did to destroy almost half of an island.

After thinking about it for a moment, Jonah realized there was nothing wrong with talking about it, so he simply explained the operation they were in charge of.

"So, Sasaura Yosuke wasn't killed by a spy or by Ishikawa?"

"Yes, we were also helpless when we figured that out, because the real culprit had already been taken away by Inspector Ayanokoji."

After glancing at the visitor rest area not far away, Conan Edogawa turned his gaze to Jonah.

"Do you want to come in with me?"

"No, I'm about to take the helicopter and leave first. See you at home."

Shaking his head, Jonah said goodbye to Conan Edogawa and quickly returned to the deck, where he found the SAT members waiting for him to leave together.

Curaçao and Kaito Kuroba were also there, having completed their mission. Kaito Kuroba, not wanting to remain on the ship using his false identity, decided to leave with the helicopter.

The helicopter quickly returned to Wakasa base. The squad leader, who had already received his orders, smiled and said goodbye to Jonah before quickly leaving with his men.

Jonah and his two companions didn't linger at the base. After finding the car that Curaçao had parked nearby, they immediately headed towards Dave and his group's location.

"Oh, Professor and Ai are here too."

Upon arriving at the location Dave had given him, Jonah was still wondering why it was a restaurant when he saw Dave, Rumi Wakasa, and Eisuke Hondo sitting together in a private room having a meal.

Curaçao, who was following Jonah, saw Professor Agasa and Ai Haibara in the private room. After a moment of surprise, she smiled and greeted them.

Jonah naturally sat down in the exposed spot next to Ai Haibara, letting her wipe his hands and face with a wet wipe, while asking her questions curiously.

"Haibara, weren't you accompanying the Professor to that presentation?"

"We finished that meeting in the morning. Didn't you run into some trouble? That's why the professor and I didn't attend the afternoon session."

After wiping Jonah's hands, Ai Haibara handed him the chopsticks and explained with a smile.

"This afternoon, Ai and I, along with Hattori and Toyama, also went for a run."

Sitting next to Dave, Professor Agasa chuckled and took a bite of king crab. Although he wasn't in charge of much of the work, he had still spent most of the day running around, and now that he was settled down to enjoy the celebration feast, he was naturally in a good mood.

"Miss Haibara is truly amazing. Without even going to a professional laboratory, she used makeshift equipment to detect that the red liquid under Yosuke Sasaura's neck was a type of paint, and helped that dark-skinned kid from Osaka figure out the real cause of Yosuke Sasaura's death."

Dave smiled and nodded, not holding back his praise. In front of Jonah, he lavishly praised Ai Haibara's skills, making Jonah's eyes sparkle as he nodded in agreement.

"That's right, Haibara has always been amazing!"

Haibara Ai didn't think much of Dave's praise, but when Jonah complimented her to her face, she blushed and could only pretend to be nonchalant as she kept serving Jonah food.

The meal lasted about two and a half hours before everyone dispersed.

Dave and the others planned to find somewhere to play that night. Jonah wasn't going to come along because Kogoro Mouri was worried that Ran Mouri, who had just been found in the sea, would be too tired to stay up all night. So they found a hotel nearby and planned to get a good night's rest before going home.

Knowing this, Jonah did not leave with Professor Agasa and Ai Haibara, but chose to stay at the hotel with Ran Mouri and the others, and return to Tokyo the next day.

Kogoro Mouri booked a fairly large suite, giving one room to Ran Mouri, and another to Jonah, Conan Edogawa, and Kogoro Mouri. After a long day, everyone was drowsy and quickly fell asleep.

Around 1 a.m., Jonah, who was sleeping, suddenly opened his eyes, turned off the vibration from his watch, and jumped out of bed as swiftly and quietly as a leopard cat, quickly going to the bedroom door.

Jonah squinted as he opened the bedroom door a crack, and after his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he saw two dark figures that had just entered the suite's living room.

Because it wasn't a heavily guarded detective agency or Professor Agasa's house, Jonah cautiously installed a miniature alarm device on the door after checking into the suite. Whenever the door was opened, the alarm would trigger a vibration device on Jonah's watch to alert him.

After careful observation, Jonah confirmed that the two figures were holding pistols equipped with silencers, and his eyes turned completely cold.

Without the slightest hesitation, while the two were looking around and seemingly discussing which bedroom to go to first, Jonah silently opened the door, transformed into a black shadow, and rushed towards the shadow closest to him.

Jonah plunged the dagger deep into the side of the shadowy figure, then pulled it out and swung it at another shadowy figure.

While the other figure instinctively dodged, Jonah grabbed the arm of the figure he had stabbed, and with a powerful pull of his right leg, snapped his wrist.

Jonah grabbed the pistol that hadn't fallen to the ground and fired repeatedly at the other figure, giving him no chance to retaliate.

"what!"

The darkness in the room affected Jonah's aim, preventing him from getting a headshot, and the shadowy figure let out a painful scream after being shot.

"What's wrong!"

"Who is it!"

The cries of pain woke up Conan Edogawa and Kogoro Mouri in the room, and the sounds also came from Ran Mouri's bedroom.

"Uncle, it's me. It's alright now. Please turn on the light."
