Chapter 775
The Half-Dead Spy
"Who is this?"
Captain Hodaka, who was communicating with the squad leader, couldn't see Jonah, who was soaking wet and clearly a child, but was wearing a SAT jacket. After a moment of surprise, he subconsciously looked at the squad leader.
"They are our SAT special operations team."
The squad leader glanced at Jonah and, realizing what Jonah might be up to, hesitated for a moment but didn't stop him. Instead, he immediately took out his communication device to contact Ryuichi Shiraishi.
"I see. That spy is currently being held in a crew quarters on our ship. We have people guarding that place, so there's absolutely no problem."
"Where is it? Please take me there."
"it is good."
Although it was strange that Jonah, a child, would become a special operations member of the SAT, the captain still cooperated and took Jonah to the dormitory where Spy X was located.
"captain!"
The crew members standing guard at the door saw the captain leading a group of people approaching and immediately stood up straight and saluted.
"Okay, open the door. The SAT students need to see that bastard."
"yes!"
Upon hearing the captain's order, the crew immediately opened the cabin door. After exchanging glances with the two crew members inside who were also on guard duty, they confirmed that their identities were correct before opening the entrance.
Jonah did not hesitate and went into the room immediately, where he saw the spy who was tied up with ropes and sitting in a chair with a dejected look on his face.
A ruthless glint flashed in Jonah's eyes. He quickly stepped forward and, before anyone could react, grabbed the spy's hair and slammed it down. At the same time, his right knee shot up with lightning speed, delivering a vicious knee strike to the spy's head.
The spy realized what was happening, but his body was completely controlled and he was unable to resist effectively. He could only watch helplessly as Jonah's knee got closer and closer to his face, finally letting out a wail of agony.
Hearing the spy's cries of agony, the crew, led by the captain, finally reacted. They shouted and instinctively tried to stop Jonah's actions, only to be horrified to find that Jonah had pulled a pistol from his back waist and pointed it at the spy's head.
"No!"
"Stop!"
The crew of the Hotaka were well aware of the importance of this spy. He was to be handed over to the higher-ups for rigorous interrogation upon returning to the Wakasa base. The Hotaka had already caused quite a stir, and they couldn't let this spy, who could at least redeem himself, die on the Hotaka.
The crew reacted quickly, pulling out their handguns and instinctively trying to stop Jonah.
But they were fast, and the SAT members who followed were even faster. Upon seeing their movements, they reacted immediately, swiftly disarming the crew members and raising the rifles hanging in front of them, shouting menacingly that all the crew members should not move.
Upon seeing this, the captain's expression turned extremely ugly. He abruptly turned to look at the squad leader, his lips trembling as he spoke.
"Who are you people? You're not SAT takers!"
"Don't be nervous, of course we are SAT. You've already inquired through internal communications, haven't you? It's just that things are a bit complicated right now, and we're taking this action because we don't want to make things more complicated."
Without giving the captain a detailed explanation, the squad leader waved to his team members, signaling them not to react so strongly. At the same time, he walked over to Jonah and handed him the phone, which had stopped because of the earlier disturbance.
"Jonah, it's Minister Shiraishi on the phone, could you answer it?"
"...good."
Upon hearing that it was Ryuichi Shiraishi on the phone, Jonah blinked, put away his pistol, took the phone, and said hello.
"Uncle Shiraishi?"
"It's me, Jonah. You must be very angry now."
"Um."
"I knew it. Well then, Uncle, I promise you, that guy will definitely die in the end. But right now, Jonah, can you let him live for a few more days? I still have a lot of things I want to confirm with him. As for that Takekawa, he still doesn't know enough."
"Give him a good beating, with a baton or a knife, but spare his life for your uncle. I guarantee he'll die in the end. I'll even allow Jonah to come in person if he wants."
"Of course, if Jonah, you insist on killing him outright, I agree. How about it, can you give me a chance?"
"Okay, I understand."
Listening quietly to Ryuichi Shiraishi's request, Jonah thought for a moment, then suppressed his murderous intent, his gaze still cold as he looked at the spy who had knocked Ran Mouri into the sea and almost put her in danger.
Although Jonah really wanted to get rid of him right now, he had matured a lot. He knew that this operation was very important to Shiraishi Ryuichi. If he killed the spy now, Shiraishi Ryuichi might not say anything, but it would still have some negative impact.
Ryuichi Shiraishi's attitude was already very good, almost pleading with Jonah to stop, and he even guaranteed that the spy would definitely not survive in the end. That was enough for Jonah.
After hanging up the phone and returning it to the squad leader, Jonah thought for a moment, asked one of the SAT members next to him for a dagger, and then, to the spy's horrified gaze, plunged the dagger into his right shoulder and twisted it forcefully.
A piercing wail echoed in the room, causing the crew members to turn their heads away, unable to bear looking at the spy on the ground.
Although Dave and his team generally don't allow Jonah to participate in interrogation procedures, Jonah has some understanding of how to inflict more pain on someone without killing them.
Jonah doesn't like torturing his enemies, but this guy who almost got Ran Mouri into trouble, Jonah felt he deserved to make an exception.
However, when it comes to torture, Jonah only pierced the spy's shoulder blade with a dagger; he didn't do anything particularly cruel.
On one hand, Jonah was getting bored because he couldn't kill him right now. On the other hand, Curaçao, who had been watching the situation from the outside, gave Jonah a hint to stop.
Sure enough, when Jonah returned the dagger and came out of the room, he saw Kogoro Mouri and Conan Edogawa who had rushed over together.
"Yes, Jonah, you really are here. I heard from Xiaolan. Thanks to your sharp eyes, well done."
Upon seeing Jonah, Kogoro Mouri smiled and ruffled Jonah's hair. Noticing that Jonah was also soaking wet, he frowned and asked Conan Edogawa to take Jonah to the ship's crew to get a clean set of clothes for him to change into. He himself stayed behind to ask the captain if there was anything else he could help with.
Using his small stature as an advantage, Conan Edogawa glanced through the gaps in the crowd's legs at the room. He saw blood everywhere and a spy whose mouth had been gagged but who looked to be in great pain. His eyes flickered, but he didn't say anything.
"I thought you would just kill him, Jonah."
Taking Jonah to the activity area where tourists were temporarily staying, Conan Edogawa found a crew member in charge of receiving tourists and asked for a clean set of children's clothes. It can only be said that the Hotaka took into account that most tourists would be participating in the activities with their children, so it was very well prepared.
Watching Jonah change his clothes, Conan Edogawa leaned against the door, his tone somewhat subtle.
Conan Edogawa was also very hostile towards this spy. He and Kaito Kuroba had been searching for the spy's trail, but this damned guy still managed to find an opportunity to get the latest information about Aegis from the captain's cabin.
The discovery of Yosuke Sasaura's severed arm on the ship attracted the attention of Conan Edogawa and Kaito Kuroba, giving the spy an opportunity. While preparing to escape on the deck, the spy encountered Ran Mouri and knocked her into the sea.
If Kaito Kuroba's team hadn't been less interested in solving murder cases and more focused on their team missions, Ran Mouri's disappearance might have been discovered even later.
Although they had life jackets, the cold seawater and powerful waves would drain Ran Mouri's energy, and with the unpredictable ocean currents, Conan Edogawa was genuinely worried that they wouldn't be able to find Ran.
Fortunately, the positioning transmitter that Dr. Agasa and Dave developed together was powerful enough to emit a faint signal even in the ocean to help locate Ran Mouri's position.
"I originally intended to kill him outright, but Uncle Shiraishi told me that he also wanted to extract information from this guy."
After changing into clean new clothes, Yoko unconsciously touched his lower back to make sure the pistol he got from the SAT was properly strapped on before nodding in relief.
"But Uncle Shiraishi said that guy is definitely going to die, so let's just let him live a couple more days."
"Conan, where's Ran-neechan? I want to go see her."
