Chapter 2
What Good Friends Should Do
Lying hidden behind the courtyard wall, Jonah couldn't understand the locals' language, nor did he know why he was doing something so dangerous. But the thought that Eri, this strange woman, might be killed by these robbers made Jonah feel that he should do something.
Holding a sharp kitchen knife stolen from a house, Jonah quickly made his way to Wu Laohu's stronghold.
The secluded and dilapidated courtyard was not large, and Jonah observed that there were only about seven people inside. Bayani, the gang leader, was not there.
Quietly scaling the yard, Jonah quickly seized the opportunity when a robber went to relieve himself by the wall. He crept up behind him, jumped up, and slashed the robber's neck with a single stroke.
Jonah picked up the homemade pistol from the robber and cut the power cord to the yard lights, making the yard even darker.
In the chaos, Jonah began his killing spree.
To Jonah, who had experience as a child soldier, these people were just ordinary people carrying guns, who had not undergone any professional training. Even though Jonah's body had shrunk and he was not in the same state as before after a long period of training, they would not pose any threat to him.
With the gun back in his hands, Jonah felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction and peace, followed by a deep sense of disgust.
Jonah didn't like weapons, but they were the only source of comfort for him.
The smoke from the bullets made Jonah feel as if he were still truly alive.
"Jonah, Jonah, wake up."
Suddenly, he opened his eyes and instinctively tried to turn over, only to find that his body was tightly strapped to the airplane seatbelt.
Jonah looked around blankly and saw Eri Kisaki looking at him with a helpless yet heartbroken expression.
"Did you have a nightmare?"
"no."
Jonah slowly shook his head, letting Eri help him unbuckle his seatbelt. He didn't take Eri's hand, but quietly followed beside her.
Seeing this, Eri Kisaki didn't mind. She knew that it would take a long time for her to gain Jonah's complete approval.
Eri Kisaki also realized that she had acted impulsively. After being rescued by Jonah, she learned that the boy had become a child soldier at such a young age and was able to face death and killing so calmly. She couldn't help but feel an indescribable heartache.
Seeing Jonah, who had just rescued her and was about to leave alone, Eri Kisaki had no time to react and called out to Jonah, completely following her own instincts.
"Would you like to come with me, Jonah?"
Then Jonah agreed, and after Eri contacted her friends and pulled some strings, she got Jonah onto a plane bound for Japan.
Jonah didn't really know why he agreed, but the way Eri looked at him under the light made his heart race and he couldn't bring himself to refuse.
"Mother!"
Just as Jonah stepped out of the airport exit, he saw a girl with red eyes running towards Eri Kisaki while shouting something.
Subconsciously standing in front of Eri, Jonah reached for his lower back but found nothing. He then realized that the dagger he had prepared to secretly bring as a trophy had been ruthlessly confiscated during the security check.
"Don't be nervous, Jonah, she is my daughter."
Noticing Jonah's protective gesture, Eri was deeply moved. She reached out and touched Jonah's hair, then opened her arms to Ran Mouri, who was running towards her, and hugged her daughter with great emotion.
"Mom, I'm so glad you're okay!"
"Alright, I'm back safe and sound now. You're all grown up now, don't cry."
"No, you have no idea how worried I was! When I got the call, my dad and I were terrified."
Upon hearing Ran Mouri's revelation, Kogoro Mouri, who was following behind, pursed his lips but didn't say anything defiant.
He carefully examined Eri with a deep gaze, and only after confirming that Eri was indeed in good condition did he secretly breathe a sigh of relief.
"It's good that you're alright. Let's see if you dare to go to such a dangerous place again next time. If you want to travel, you should choose carefully..."
"Dad! Mom just got back safely, don't say such annoying things!"
Ran Mouri turned and glared at Kogoro Mouri. She didn't want Eri Kisaki to argue with Kogoro Mouri as soon as she returned to Japan.
Once she was sure Eri was safe and sound, Ran Mouri finally breathed a sigh of relief and had the extra energy to look at Jonah, who had been silent all along.
"Wow, what an adorable child! He has silver hair! Mom, who is he?"
"Heh heh, I was just about to give you a proper introduction!"
Upon hearing Ran Mouri's words, Eri Kisaki smiled, squatted down behind Jonah, and placed her hands on Jonah's shoulders.
"He is Jonah, the child I decided to adopt!"
"And besides, he's my savior!"
"ha?!"
......
Kogoro Mouri originally planned to take everyone to a restaurant for dinner, but Eri Kisaki said she had just returned and wanted to eat her daughter's cooking, so the group went straight to the supermarket and bought a lot of ingredients before returning to the Mouri Detective Agency.
"Auntie Eri! You're back!"
Conan Edogawa, who rushed home after school, breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Eri Kisaki was safe and sound. He was extremely worried when he learned that Eri had been kidnapped, and he even contacted his father immediately to see if he could find someone to help her.
"Oh, Conan, you're back just in time. Let me introduce you to a friend."
Eri pulled Jonah, who was quietly watching cartoons in the living room, to her side and spoke with a smile.
"His name is Jonah, he's about your age, and he's the child your aunt is planning to adopt. You two should be good friends."
"Jonah is just starting to learn Japanese, but his English is very good. Conan, if you can speak English too, you can talk to him. Jonah just seems a little unsociable, but he's a very good kid."
"Ah, hello Jonah, I'm Conan Edogawa, nice to meet you."
Taken aback by Eri's sudden introduction, Conan Edogawa quickly recovered, put down his backpack, smiled, extended his hand to Jonah, and spoke fluent English.
Looking at the hand extended in front of him, Jonah blinked, subconsciously turned to look at Eri Kisaki, and after receiving an encouraging look, he also extended his hand and shook hands with Conan Edogawa.
Jonah.
"Okay, then we're friends!"
"A friend? Okay, I'll protect you."
"Hmm, hmm? How are you going to protect me?"
"If anyone wants to harm you, I will kill them."
"what?"
"Jonah!"
