Chapter 1
The Walking Dead
call out--
Caesar threw out a noose, which caught a ragged woman. He then looped one end of the noose around the head of the saddle and gently urged the horse forward.
The horse used all four limbs to drag the woman forward violently.
The woman stumbled and fell straight down, her face hitting the ground. Instead of instinctively bracing herself, she let her face suffer the severe injury.
"Hiss—ha—"
An unparalleled brute force gripped the woman's neck, her body scraping against the rough gravel and yellow earth.
Soon, clothes and skin were rubbed apart by the stones, and black blood clots and various bits of flesh were worn away layer by layer, leaving a bloodstain on the yellow earth.
A stench followed, and Caesar wrinkled his nose, muttering, "Dead is dead, but having to clean up the body is such a hassle!"
The entrance to Caesar's Ranch.
The fences of ranches and farms in the United States are very rough, consisting of wooden stakes connected by a few wooden strips, with iron gates for the main entrance and some passageways.
Even in times of peace, nothing can stop normal human beings.
At this critical moment, it can be said to be in a very precarious situation.
Caesar glanced around, his eyes filled with worry as he looked at the railings and iron gate.
Outside the ranch gate, several tall oak trees stand on either side, their majestic forms like stern guardians protecting the ranch.
At this time, many "corpses" were hanging on the oak tree. When the wind blew, the "corpses" floated in the air like teru teru bozu (Japanese teru bozu dolls).
Their fragile necks were constantly being strangled by ropes, yet they still did not die.
Caesar was used to this. He took the rope from the saddle, threw it to a branch of an oak tree, and kicked the horse's belly, pulling the woman suspended in the air.
The woman was hanging upside down, and Caesar could see her face clearly. Her ashen face looked like over-tanned leather, and her bulging, drooping eyeballs hung on half of her face.
Half of his face was scraped raw by the gravel road, revealing a bloody mess inside, with the inside of his mouth clearly visible...
"No matter how many times I watch it, zombies are truly disgusting."
Caesar looked at the zombies hanging in the air and made a sarcastic remark.
He wasn't a local, or rather, he wasn't from this world. He was just a huge fan of The Walking Dead who suddenly found himself transported to this world.
When Caesar first transmigrated, he was very happy. He was strong, tall, and handsome.
With black hair and black eyes, her features possess both the three-dimensionality of Westerners and the softness of Easterners.
This is Caesar's ranch. It's not a big ranch; Caesar borrowed a lot of money to buy it and become a rancher, and recruited a few cowboys he got along well with.
As a result, before the farm could create any value, the apocalypse arrived.
However, Caesar was also very happy. He didn't have to pay back the loan at all, and he didn't have any relatives. He only needed to worry about the life and death of himself and his companions.
In his excitement, the original owner drank heavily and died instantly, just as Caesar transmigrated into the body.
After absorbing the original owner's memories, Caesar realized something was wrong.
The ranch is located not far from Georgia's Highway 85, where there is a farmer named Hasher.
When Caesar heard Herschel's name and Highway 85, he had a vague feeling that something was wrong.
He then learned that a few months earlier, there had been official reports of a police officer being shot in Kings County. The officer who was shot was named Rick Grimes.
From all these signs, Caesar knew he had traveled into the world of The Walking Dead.
The moment Caesar confirmed that it was the world of "The Walking Dead," he felt both happy and sad. He was happy to be entering a zombie world with a relatively low difficulty level, but sad that he would eventually have to face the dangers of the apocalypse.
Riding his yellow horse, Caesar leisurely closed the wooden door and glanced back.
Zombies hanging in the air like wind chimes struggle; this is Lynchfa, a form of vigilante justice.
In those wild times, this form of vigilante justice served as a substitute for the law, maintaining order and deterrence.
Caesar needed this violence to show his cowboys that he was not afraid of this apocalypse.
A cowardly soldier is weak, but a mighty general makes a whole army strong.
With me by their side, there's no need to fear this apocalypse; I will lead them to survive.
This was Caesar's promise as a leader, and his confidence as a time traveler.
Sitting on his yellow horse, Caesar surveyed his territory—let's call it territory for now—along the road.
The ranch has a good location, situated in a valley called Black Pine Valley.
The surrounding area is a continuous mountain range, which is tall and majestic, unlike the kind of mountain range that would appear on a plain. The peaks are steep, and only one side of the valley is relatively gentle.
The outer side is all cliffs and precipices, so zombies would not be able to cross the mountains to enter the valley.
The mountain range is shaped like a vase, with a gap in the mountain for people to enter and exit, which is about four lanes wide.
The long, narrow valley covers a vast area of nearly 32.4 hectares, equivalent to half the size of Shanghai.
The valley is rich in water and grass, and has a mild climate, making it ideal for raising large numbers of cattle and sheep. Near the mountains, farmland can also be cultivated for planting.
Of course, the valley is so large that it is not just Caesar's small ranch, but also many other ranches.
But if Caesar could control the entire valley, his power would increase exponentially.
The interior of the ranch.
On the vast grassland, a few buildings stand, hastily divided into sections by wooden fences.
It is divided into a livestock area, a living area, and a warehouse.
The yellow horse stopped near the stable. Caesar dismounted, and a young white man took the horse and led it into the stable.
"Boss, give me the horse."
Caesar glanced at the white youth, whose name was Jimmy. He was a lecherous man who had lived with his grandfather and was led astray by his friends.
Later, Rip brought him to the ranch and took care of his problems.
At this moment, a burly man walked over. He was wearing a stiff black denim jacket, black boots, sunglasses, and a black cowboy hat. With his thick beard, he looked particularly fierce.
This is Rip.
With a blade of grass dangling from his mouth, Rip asked, "How many did you catch today?"
"There are quite a few, definitely four or five." Caesar shook his head, indicating that the situation was not good.
"If the Bison Pass isn't blocked, zombies will keep pouring in."
Bison Pass is the entrance and exit of Black Pine Valley.
Caesar didn't give Rip a perfunctory answer, nodding firmly and saying, "We have to block the Bison Pass."
Rip paused for a moment, and couldn't help but think to himself: Caesar has become much more decisive.
Rip pondered his next move and asked, "Should we go find old man Leon and Horus to discuss this?"
Old man Leon and Horus own the ranch in the valley. They own the largest ranch and have more than a dozen people, much more than Caesar's ranch.
Caesar thought for a moment and shook his head: "We don't even know if Horus and old man Leon are alive or dead yet."
"And whether they are dead or alive, we must block the pass."
Caesar had a strong sense of crisis and a clear understanding of it.
Since Caesar wants to occupy the entire valley, then there are no friends in the valley, only enemies.
Rip looked at Caesar, his eyes shining even brighter.
When it was time for dinner, Caesar's cowboy team sat around the table in the stone house.
The candlelight flickered dimly, and everyone's face carried varying degrees of bewilderment.
Caesar surveyed his men.
Old cowboy Lloyd, hothead Jimmy, capable assistant Rip, mature and steady Ryan, pink-haired cowgirl Tite, and black man in a white hat Colby.
Six people represent the entire strength of the ranch.
After a brief pause, Caesar announced loudly, "I have decided that we will proceed to Buffalo Pass tomorrow to conduct an exploration."
"Furthermore, I will organize a team to go to Atlanta."
"What?!"
Caesar's news shocked everyone, except for Rip.
Tite chewed gum, one foot propped up on the chair, his eyes shining: "Can we go shopping, boss?"
Tite's accent was a bit strange, but Caesar still understood what she was saying.
"Of course we can. We'll go to Atlanta, find a truck, and then go to the department store to buy more stuff. Food, drinks, and all sorts of other things, we'll get plenty."
Upon hearing this, Tite became so excited that she danced around, her pink hair fluttering in the wind.
Jimmy was also very happy and hesitated to ask something, but was interrupted by Ryan who was standing next to him.
"Boss, if so many zombies have appeared in such a remote part of our ranch, what about Atlanta...?"
Ryan, with a full beard, asked earnestly.
He didn't finish his sentence, but everyone understood what he meant.
Jimmy deflated immediately, but his eyes still held a glimmer of hope.
