Chapter 81
Offering Loyalty
Caesar immediately stood up. "Frank, I will provide you with assistance, but there is one thing we need to discuss beforehand."
"What?" Frank didn't expect Caesar to help him, and asked instinctively.
"That's what I'll end up with. Didn't Amy tell you?"
"Uh..." Frank thought for a moment and said, "Al said that you should become our leader."
Caesar was secretly delighted. It seemed that this El was a formidable character, able to guess what he wanted most and even offering him the opportunity.
Without hesitation, Caesar turned to Amy beside him and said, "Amy, go and inform Morr, Daryl, and Morales to assemble."
"Oh, and tell Guillermo to guard the house."
Amy turned around and hurriedly ran out the door.
"Let's drive to Horus Ranch as quickly as possible!"
Caesar said something to Frank and led him out.
Seeing Caesar's decisive manner, Frank nodded secretly and quickly followed.
When Caesar arrived at the parking spot, Mor and Daryl roared over on their motorcycles.
Moore stopped beside Caesar, pulled down his sunglasses to reveal his eyes, glanced at Frank, and said, "Boss, how much equipment are we bringing?"
Caesar thought for a moment, since he was going to his new territory, he definitely had to show off his strength and let his people know how powerful he, the rancher, was.
Moreover, Horus Ranch also has Connor, and defeating him as soon as possible will bring him greater prestige.
Thus, Caesar shouted, "Charge with heavy trucks! We have unlimited firepower today! Eliminate the enemy as quickly as possible! Our ranch awaits our protection!"
When Moore imagined bumping into bumper cars with heavy trucks, the corners of his mouth turned into an exaggerated grin.
When Caesar's gaze fell on Daryl, who was standing to the side, Daryl knowingly raised his crossbow: "I know, I'll be shooting from the outside."
After assigning two combat squad leaders, Caesar had Morales and his squad members drive pickup trucks, closely following the heavy trucks.
Caesar put on his gear on the spot and instructed each team member to carefully check their bulletproof vests to make sure there were no problems.
When Caesar glanced at Frank, who was standing awkwardly to the side, his gaze fixed on the bulletproof vests worn by the people around him, Caesar's lips curled up slightly. Hmm, it was time to win people's hearts.
"Give!"
Caesar tossed a tactical vest to Frank, who instinctively caught it and felt the familiar texture. Looking down, he realized it was a tactical vest.
"Put it on quickly, your life is the most important thing right now."
Caesar said this, then handed Frank a carbine, "Take this, it's better than your shotgun."
Frank stared blankly at the tactical vest and carbine. These were bulletproof vests, and in this post-apocalyptic world, their value was immeasurable, worth far more than a fortune.
Adding an automatic rifle... that's incredibly generous.
Frank took the carbine and looked at Caesar solemnly. "Thank you for giving me these. I am very grateful to you."
Caesar smiled and nodded. He knew, of course, the value of these things in the valley, and he also knew that Frank would misunderstand and think that even tactical vests and such items were valuable at Caesar Ranch.
But Caesar didn't deliberately exaggerate how much he had given or demand anything in return from Frank; Frank himself knew how to be grateful.
Patting Frank on the shoulder, Caesar said earnestly, "War is something none of us want. It brings death to friends and family, so I hope that each of you can survive."
After saying that, Caesar walked away leisurely.
Frank, who remained behind, pursed his lips, his feelings a mix of emotions. He could only think that Caesar was truly a good rancher, treating him, a subordinate who wasn't even officially part of the team, so well.
After everyone was equipped, Caesar gave the order, and they all got into their respective vehicles.
The lead rammed truck roared into action and charged out of the pasture first.
Following closely behind were pickup trucks like a pack of wolves, each carrying well-equipped warriors ready to pounce on the enemy at the order of battle.
The car quickly arrived at Horus Ranch.
From a distance, billowing black smoke swirls and rises into the sky, connecting the earth with the dark clouds.
Caesar, driving his heavy truck, was delighted; something else had happened.
Offering help in times of need is always more effective than adding to someone's success.
Frank sat in the passenger seat of Caesar's carbine, his knuckles white from gripping it tightly, his heart pounding with anxiety.
Even if Frank hadn't urged Caesar, Caesar could have guessed what Frank was thinking.
Caesar slammed on the gas pedal, and the heavy truck roared as it accelerated once more.
Frank glanced at Caesar with gratitude in his eyes, but Caesar stared straight ahead, seemingly oblivious.
The acceleration of the heavy truck caused the pickup truck behind it to accelerate as well.
Several vehicles sped forward, raising clouds of sand and dust from the dirt road like thick smoke, creating a massive spectacle.
At Horus Ranch, several people carrying buckets filled with water ran towards a small wooden cabin and poured the water onto it.
The cabin was set on fire at some point, and endless thick smoke billowed out of the doors and windows.
The crowd ran to put out the fire, but the flames were raging, and their efforts were futile, like ants trying to shake a tree.
Not far away, Connor stood with his arms crossed, a playful expression on his face, watching the firefighting operation.
At that moment, the ground trembled slightly, as if some enormous creature was running wildly.
Connor's expression changed, and he turned to look, his pupils shrinking sharply.
His men also looked extremely grim as they watched the convoy being swept along by the yellow sand.
The convoy's engines roared, and the vehicles were traveling at extremely high speeds, clearly indicating their aggressive approach.
Connor picked up his gun and yelled at his men, "What are you looking at? Keep an eye on the front door and don't let them in!"
After saying that, he rushed towards the gate first, and his subordinates quickly followed after him.
The anxious crowd rushing to put out the fire also spotted Caesar and his convoy. They cried out in alarm, hesitating whether to fight the fire or go home to save their lives.
Most people gritted their teeth, ran back to their rooms, closed the doors tightly, buried themselves under the covers like quails, and trembled with fear.
Those with weapons stood behind the door, praying that the enemy would only kill Connor and the others.
A small number of people stubbornly carried buckets back and forth to put out the fire.
As the convoy approached the gate, Connor and the others realized who it was.
Connor hesitated for a moment, then immediately made a decision, raised his hands, and shouted loudly, "Caesar, I..."
boom--
A powerful bullet pierced Connor's head instantly, causing it to explode like a watermelon, scattering red and white fragments all over the ground.
Caesar secretly gave it a thumbs up.
He certainly couldn't let Connor surrender. If Connor surrendered, who would be the villain? There had to be a villain to prove that his arrival was just and could bring a better life to the residents.
