Chapter 21
Post-War
Moore then led his men into the fortifications in the middle of the camp.
The walkers stormed into the camp, causing immediate chaos as they charged toward the fortifications, baring their teeth and brandishing their claws.
Rick and Sean grabbed their weapons and hacked and slashed desperately.
The two were not particularly skilled in combat, but they were physically exceptional. No zombie could break through their defenses until their stamina was completely exhausted.
T-boy, Morales, Dale, and others in the camp also helped kill the walkers, but they weren't as efficient.
Tite and Jimmy, who were mixed in with them, also took this opportunity to practice their killing skills.
The zombies gradually moved to the vehicles on both sides, their murky eyes staring directly at the reinforced windows.
puff-
A crossbow bolt pierced the zombie's brain from top to bottom, and it fell straight down.
"fool!"
Daryl retrieved his crossbow, reloaded it, and continued the attack.
Amy, in the car below, was terrified, her large breasts trembling. Andrea, holding a hammer tightly, stood in front of her sister, breathed a sigh of relief, and comforted her.
"It's alright, the walkers won't get in!"
"And I will protect you. Don't be afraid!"
Andrea, trying to stay strong, hugged Amy and comforted her.
Suddenly, a scream came from somewhere in the camp. The voice was deep and clearly that of a man.
It didn't call out twice before the sound disappeared.
The scream sent shivers down the spines of several cars nearby. Lori, in particular, was filled with tears as she clung to Carl, watching Rick and Sean fight bravely through the car window.
She didn't understand. Wasn't family the most important thing? Why didn't Rick come to protect her and Carl?
Where's Sean? What happened to all those sweet words? Were they all lies?
Carol, standing next to Lori, looked even more panicked. If others couldn't tell, how could she not?
That was Ed's scream. She covered Sophia's ears, and her world began to crumble.
She didn't know what life would be like after losing Ed; she dared not think about it, nor did she want to.
That's why she could tolerate Ed.
Because of habit!
The walkers have no sense of danger and no idea what lies below the cliff; their only goal is to devour their prey.
So, even as they were in free fall, they were still waving their claws, trying to get their sweet entrails.
Relying on the fortifications, the group attacked the zombies in the middle passage from both sides, causing the zombies to either fall or plummet off the cliff.
As the sky gradually brightened, a wisp of white cloud appeared on the edge.
Caesar glanced at the twenty-odd zombies still lingering in the center of the camp, then jumped out of the RV with his axe in hand.
Caesar charged headlong into the horde of zombies, but Kutz kicked one of them away.
Using the momentum of a turn, he easily chopped off the head of a zombie with the axe.
A zombie charged at him from the right, and Caesar used the tip of his axe to smash the zombie's jaw upwards.
His teeth shattered, and his jaw fractured.
Caesar glanced to the left, raised his left hand, lowered his shoulder, and delivered an elbow strike to the walking corpse's facial bone.
He took a step forward, his thick riding boots, with their hard heels, smashed the brains that were scattered all over the ground.
Caesar's movements are both brutal and graceful, like a killing rose on the battlefield, every action full of violent aesthetics.
After a few minutes of intense fighting, the zombies on the ground collapsed one after another.
Caesar swung his hand axe, which flew out of his hand and embedded itself in the head of a lying zombie. The head split open from the middle, and its contents spilled onto the ground along the axe blade.
With the end of Caesar's battle, the battle at the quarry camp also officially came to a close.
After the battle, Caesar's first order was to rest.
The combatants fought all night and then all returned to their vehicles to rest.
Non-combatants were responsible for clearing the bodies left in the camp, classifying them, and distinguishing who was a casualty and who was an outsider.
Caesar felt there was no need to cremate the zombie corpses; simply throwing them off the cliff would suffice.
The surrounding animals know how to eat, or the forest will also be purified.
Anyway, they won't need to live in the quarry anymore, so whether there's a plague or not won't affect them.
After briefly assigning tasks, Caesar went to sleep.
The corpses in the camp died down quickly, and they were all thrown down. The blood and rotting flesh were scattered sparsely, not enough to fill a container, so they were not dealt with.
Those who sacrificed their lives last night also used the pits that Jim had prepared in advance.
However, compared to what Jim dug, far fewer people died.
Aside from the unfortunate Ed, only a handful of others died.
As for Ed, well, Carroll performed CPR on him, which involved smashing his chest with a hoe, and also did facial reconstruction surgery.
That is, Ed's head was smashed, and Ed was reduced to a very broken and rotten state.
When they dragged Ed's body, the connection between Ed's head and upper body completely broke off.
Carol cried and tried to pick it up, but she couldn't. She had no choice but to smash the minced meat into a pulp with a stone, so that when she buried it in the dirt, the bruised Ed would not be visible.
Ed's situation was unique; everyone in the camp hated him, but no one expected that a living person could die so suddenly.
For no apparent reason, I felt a sense of sorrow for the passing of my rabbit.
After cleaning up the corpse, Carol quickly composed herself, grabbed the venison from yesterday, and began cooking.
She knew she didn't have much fighting ability, and if she wanted to continue to survive in the team, she would either have to rely on others or rely on her own abilities.
Carole was confident that she could handle cooking, or rather, housekeeping.
Carol and Sophia worked hard together.
Even when several women offered to help, Carol smiled and declined, saying, "It's alright, you all go do other things. I can handle this by myself."
Sofia was a sensible child; she helped her mother with chores without complaint.
Meanwhile, the other children, such as Carl and Morales' two children, were playing.
Smoke rises from the chimneys, as if the battle of last night was a nightmare, but as the sun rises and the smoke reappears, the nightmare dissipates.
After Caesar got up, he got out of the car.
Everyone who met Caesar nodded gratefully to him, opened their mouths as if to say something, but in the end, they all stopped themselves from speaking.
Caesar was a bit inexplicable.
Moore suddenly appeared out of nowhere, as if he had seen through Caesar's thoughts, "Boss, everyone in the camp is treating you like a savior now."
"I guarantee that if you want a girl, just say so, and she'll definitely agree."
"Well, even if it's a boy... that's not necessarily a bad thing!"
More's words were quite nonsensical, and Caesar pretended not to hear them, asking instead, "Have the bodies and everything been disposed of?"
"The body has been disposed of. You didn't see it. When Carol disposed of Ed's body, it was incredibly bloody and violent."
Moore spoke so vividly, as if he were there himself.
"You saw it?" Caesar asked casually.
"no."
Mohr waved his hand.
