Chapter 48
Training
Moer's bad reputation spread throughout the group, so everyone quickly calmed down and appeared exceptionally rational.
Moore scoffed, "Damn it, a bunch of cowards."
Seeing that everyone had given in, Moore decided not to stay any longer and turned to leave.
Daryl followed behind Moore without saying anything, only glancing twice at Carol at the front of the crowd.
He always felt that this woman was doing it on purpose.
"Did you see that bald woman?" Moore walked over to his motorcycle, plopped down, and asked casually.
Daryl nodded; he knew Moore was talking about Carol.
"That woman is a ruthless character."
Moore's lips curled up as he pulled an exquisite wine bottle from his pocket, twisted it open, took a sip, and then spoke.
"I never expected her to change so quickly after her husband died."
Moor clicked his tongue in amazement. Judging from this, the probability of this woman surviving in the apocalypse was not low.
Daryl looked at Carol, who was still standing at the front of the crowd, and Carol then explained the reason.
After the crowd was forcibly suppressed by Moore, they naturally took the opportunity to back down after hearing Carroll's explanation.
"Carol, why didn't you say so sooner?"
"Tch, it's all because you're stupid. I already knew the leader's true intentions. What were you trying to do just now? Trying to force Carol?"
"Jack, what are you pretending for? Didn't you just object?"
"...Uh, I, I didn't! Oh dear!"
The man, his face flushed and neck stiff, tried to argue back, only to be kicked by a black foot that appeared out of nowhere.
After he fell, the person he had scolded seized the opportunity to ride on him and beat him.
The two were clearly not very good at fighting; they were evenly matched and began to wrestle on the ground.
The people around watched and laughed, without making any attempt to stop them.
Caesar is a cowboy who believes in the survival of the fittest and never forbids minor conflicts within the team; small squabbles are normal.
Sometimes, when two people have a conflict, they can resolve it through fighting.
Everything looked exceptionally peaceful, as if the tense scene just moments before was a dream, but Carol knew that her method had worked.
Carroll understood that even if she explained things clearly from the beginning, there would still be dissatisfied people complaining, and even secretly hindering her work.
Therefore, she would amplify the conflict, have the fighters suppress the crowd, and then Carol would intervene to explain. The conflict would then naturally diminish and disappear.
Carol turned around with a smile and went back to her tent, her smile widening.
This powerful feeling made her feel incredibly comfortable.
Caesar withdrew his gaze and sighed inwardly, "Carol has really changed quickly."
He had been keeping a close eye on the camp, and he knew that conflict would arise. Caesar wanted to see if Carol or someone else could handle the trouble.
After all, Caesar believed that his team would continue to expand and recruit more people in the future, and he couldn't possibly do everything himself.
He needs capable personnel to better manage the camp.
……
Caesar was dressed entirely in a black bomb suit. Standing at 1.95 meters tall, the heavy bomb suit made him look even stronger and more ferocious.
Removing his helmet, Caesar glanced around and said calmly, "We don't need to go out to search for supplies today."
"I only need you all. Everyone participate in the fight, and each of you must kill at least one zombie, except for the elderly and children!"
"Only melee weapons are permitted. Understand?"
"Understood!" The combat personnel looked at each other with disdain, completely disregarding the mission.
When they were on combat missions, they killed an average of a dozen or twenty zombies each.
Most of the non-combatants had never faced walkers before, and their responses were tinged with a lack of confidence.
Caesar glanced at Daryl beside him, who nodded almost imperceptibly without saying a word.
Caesar had told Daryl in advance to have his team's best marksmen ready to shoot and kill the walkers immediately should any danger arise.
Not far from their temporary residence, on a nearby street, the group found that there were no longer any standing zombies on the main street.
The zombies were clearly drawn to the CDC's constant broadcasts and lights.
Caesar raised his hand, pointed to a shop not far away, and ordered, "T-boy, take some men and smash that glass."
Without hesitation, T nodded calmly and led the two men over.
The shop was entirely made of glass, and you could see several zombie hands slapping against the glass.
The hammer struck the four corners of the glass, and with a crack, the cracks spread across the entire pane, shattering it.
The figures of the zombies were also fully exposed, with their rough, bluish-black skin, hideous wounds, and murky eyes.
The atmosphere in the crowd instantly became tense. Amy swallowed hard, gripping a machete, her expression somewhat nervous.
Standing in front of her was Andrea, her hair tied in a ponytail, looking quite capable. She turned and said, "Amy, stick close to me. I'll go first, and you copy my movements. Okay?"
Amy nodded repeatedly, like a chick pecking at rice.
Carol, standing in the crowd, was checking her equipment. After finishing, she quickly stepped out of the crowd and charged into the horde of zombies.
T-boy and his two teammates walked leisurely past the zombies, not daring to lead them into the crowd, as that could easily cause a disturbance.
If this group of people wanders around randomly, it could cause accidental firing by nearby combat personnel, leading to unnecessary trouble.
Caesar glanced at Carol, who was the first to step out from the crowd, and smirked. "The non-combatant who has killed the most walkers gets to choose from the armory, tool arsenal, tobacco and alcohol, and some rarer foods today."
Limited to ten people!
Upon hearing the encouragement, everyone looked up at Caesar, knowing that he was not lying.
Some people want better tools to do more things, while others want tobacco, alcohol, meat, and so on, to enjoy themselves.
Some people also wanted to acquire weapons to protect themselves.
Caesar's army gradually became more organized and would not give away valuable items casually, as this would be unfair to others.
Almost everyone had something they wanted, so several people quickly ran out from the crowd, carrying machetes and shouting to cheer themselves on.
At the forefront, Carol charged forward, gripping her machete tightly with both hands, the tip of which pierced the walker's brain.
The walker had been dead for a long time, and its skull was somewhat brittle, so Carol easily drew the tip of her knife.
As Carol drew her sword, a zombie nearby seized the opportunity to attack, but was kicked away by a large foot.
T-boy's deep voice rang out: "When killing zombies, pay attention to your surroundings and don't launch an attack rashly."
