Chapter 66

Instigation

Upon entering the cabin, a faint scent of wood wafted out. Caesar stepped closer to the wall and walked inside.

Walk down the hallway and into the living room.

Old man Leon stood with his hands behind his back in front of the fireplace, his face glowing with the firelight, and his hand stroking an old-fashioned gun.

The gun has silver patterns on the barrel and looks to be in very good condition.

Old man Leon stopped what he was doing, turned to look at Caesar, and asked, "What are your thoughts on seeing Horus today?"

When cooperation begins, the party that initiates the cooperation is most likely to lose the initiative.

Caesar raised an eyebrow, sat down in a chair, and let out a comfortable hum. "Horus, what could I possibly have feelings for him?"

Seeing Caesar treat the place as his own, old man Leon gave him an approving look. "When I was young, I was just like you."

"He was fearless and even dared to go hunting black bears with my father."

As he spoke, old man Leon pointed to the black bear head hanging on the wall. The person who made the specimen was very skilled; the entire black bear was glaring and tearing at something, looking just like it was alive.

Besides black bears, there were also the heads of animals like elk.

Caesar glanced at it, but he wasn't very interested in hunting, so he didn't reply.

After a moment of silence, Leon straightened up and looked at Caesar: "I want to cooperate with you to divide Horus."

finally come.

Caesar's tone held a hint of excitement: "Oh, haven't you always had a good relationship with Horus?"

"Why did you suddenly want to attack him?"

"Because you appeared." Old Man Leon looked at Caesar, but didn't say the rest of his sentence, also because Phil had begun to shake the foundation of his leadership.

Caesar stood up, walked to the liquor cabinet next to him, took out a bottle of rum, poured out the golden liquid, and poured two glasses.

He picked up the glass, swirled it, and examined the color of the liquor by the firelight, then casually asked, "So, what's my reward?"

Old man Leon's expression remained unchanged. "What do you want?"

"I want all the cattle and sheep of Horus, and all the pastures." Caesar put down his wine glass, staring intently at the old man Leon, his eyes burning with the flames of ambition.

The old man Leon's lips curled into a smile, which then grew wider and wider, his smile becoming increasingly broad.

"Hahahaha!" Leon stopped laughing, walked to the wine cabinet, and picked up another wine glass: "I admire your ambition."

"Then I want Horus's firearms and all his reserves."

"make a deal!"

Caesar held out his wine glass, and the two glasses clinked together, making a crisp sound.

After the deal was struck, Caesar did not linger and quickly left Leon Ranch.

Leon slowly sipped the remaining wine until the bottle was empty, then he called the cowboy outside.

Tell him to go find Phil.

Leon lay back on the sofa, suppressing his aura, looking listless and as if he didn't have much time left.

Not long after, the knocking on the door started again.

Before Leon could call them in, Phil swaggered into the cabin, sat down on the sofa, and put his feet up on the coffee table.

The cowboy, who had tried to stop Phil's unreasonable behavior, also came in, but Leon waved him away before he left.

Phil glanced at the empty wine bottle on the coffee table and chuckled, "Old man, you've got a pretty good capacity for alcohol. I didn't expect you to be able to drink so much at your age."

Leon stared at Phil with his cloudy eyes. "Phil, do you want to be the boss of Leon Ranch?"

Phil froze, then reached for his lower back where he found the gun.

At the same time, his gaze swept across the room, searching for where someone might be hiding, and he looked warily at Leon.

Phil said awkwardly, "Old man, what nonsense are you spouting?!"

"It's not like you'd give up your position to me just because I said I wanted to be in it."

"Yes." Leon nodded, looking calmly at Phil.

Phil paused for a moment, wondering if there was something wrong with his ears, and forced a laugh: "Don't joke around, old man."

He was a little confused about what Leon was going to do tonight. His attitude was completely different from before, making him feel like all his thoughts had been seen through.

"Phil, I'm getting old." Leon lowered his eyes and rubbed his legs twice. "I can hardly walk anymore."

Leon looked up, staring intently at Phil: "You're still young, Phil. I'd like to give you this position. Once you become the leader, you'll have twenty or thirty armed men."

"Occupy some more small ranches, and your strength will increase rapidly. Then, the entire Black Pine Valley will be yours."

As Phil listened to Leon's vision, he couldn't help but get excited, his hands clenched into fists and the corners of his mouth unable to be turned up.

idiot.

Leon cursed under his breath, but coughed lightly twice to bring Phil out of his reverie.

"But if you become the leader of Leon Ranch, even if I step down to you directly, some cowboys won't submit to you."

Phil chuckled dismissively and said ruthlessly, "Then I'll just kill them all, turn them into zombies, and hang them up, just like Caesar."

"What about their families? If you kill those cowboys, will you kill their families too?" Leon, like an elder genuinely concerned for his juniors, said earnestly, "You can't just kill people."

"Then tell me, what should I do?" Phil asked directly, too lazy to listen to Leon's long-winded explanation.

The old man Leon then said, "Horus, you take your men and ally with Caesar to kill Horus together."

"I've already spoken with Caesar. The weapons and food supplies are ours, while the pastures and livestock are theirs."

"Anyway, Horus is the furthest from us, and we don't need his ranch for the time being. We have plenty of guns and food."

"When you kill Horus, you'll have enough prestige. Then, return with plenty of food and weapons, and everyone will surely submit to you. You will be the rightful next leader."

Phil could no longer suppress his laughter; he burst into laughter, stood up excitedly, and paced back and forth in the room, completely unable to control his emotions.

Meanwhile, old man Leon looked at Phil with a kind smile, but the smile didn't reach his eyes, which were filled with icy killing intent.

After seeing Phil off, Leon stood up from his chair and threw the bottle of wine that Phil had just opened into the fireplace.

The wine was poured onto the flames, and the flames burned even brighter.

"Ha, Phil, I've raised you for so many years, and I still can't tame you."

"Since you're such an ingrate, you should keep your tail between your legs and live a life of quiet defiance. You deserve to die for being so cocky! In your next life, please don't be so brainless."

The malice and cruelty in Leon's eyes were far more intense than in Phil's.

Black Pine Valley, Caesar Ranch.
