Chapter 44
Cleanup
Boom—
The roar of the trucks was as conspicuous as lights in the dark night.
Several zombies staggered out of the alley, only to be instantly knocked away and smashed into the wall, their flesh and blood turning into murals.
The power of the trucks was far beyond what a human could withstand. Even the zombies trapped under the tires were crushed into pieces and could not stop the convoy from moving forward.
Soon, the convoy arrived at the CDC.
The truck's brute force cleared a path for the car to pass.
The convoy's pickup trucks were positioned on both flanks, and the combatants drew their weapons and charged forward to eliminate the walkers.
Moore laughed hoarsely, riding his motorcycle straight into a zombie, pulling it under the wheel. The rear wheel spun at high speed, shaving off a layer of the zombie's head.
After running over a zombie, Moore stopped the car, pulled out a large machete, and casually killed another zombie.
The zombies began to surge up from both sides, and crossbow bolts whistled through the air. Without turning around, Mor knew that they were Daryl's crossbows.
He didn't even bother to defend his back, recklessly charging into the horde of zombies.
Mohr's teammates were also infected with his fierce aura, laughing wildly as they charged forward with him.
On the other side, the team members, fully equipped with reinforced blast suits, plunged into the horde of zombies, enthusiastically hacking and slashing through the zombies without a care for their teammates.
They stood firm like rocks battered by waves, unmoved by the onslaught of the horde of corpses.
Among them was an exceptionally tall and burly figure, wielding a fire axe. With a single swing, a group of zombies fell.
Most of the zombies weren't even chopped down by the blade of the fire axe; instead, their heads were smashed open by the handle.
That tall and imposing figure was none other than Caesar.
The walkers were plentiful and kept coming. After stretching his body, Caesar turned around and charged back into the convoy.
With an aura of menace, Caesar approached Rip, who was in the lead car.
"Rip, get the walkie-talkie and tell Jenner and Tite inside to open the door for us."
Caesar patted the door of the lead car, turned around and looked at his own team members who were like berserkers, as well as the agile Mor and his team.
"Daryl, inform your team to take care of the walkers as quickly as possible with guns."
"We're going in!"
Caesar walked up to Daryl and shouted at him, then turned to his men: "Get your guns and kill all the walkers!"
He picked up a gun himself and opened fire on the horde of corpses.
"Yes, boss!"
"Okay, okay!"
"Hehe, I'll shoot you all to death, you bloated, stinking scum."
"Kill them! Kill them!"
"..."
Amidst roars of anger, the sounds of gunfire and cannons resounded incessantly.
On both sides of the convoy, several firing positions opened fire in a crisscross pattern, managing to hold back the horde of zombies and pushing them back considerably.
……
The CDC, on the second basement floor, is the central command center.
Jenner was dumbfounded as he watched Caesar's team unleash their powerful fighting force. He was a man of the world who had seen many elite American soldiers.
But the team that has demonstrated such formidable fighting power in the apocalypse is actually this ragtag army from the post-apocalyptic world we are seeing now.
Jenner's expression was filled with disbelief.
Not to mention Jenner, even Rick and Lori, who were watching the monitor, looked quite shocked.
Rick couldn't believe what had happened these past few days. Just a few days ago, Rick and his friends were in the group, and they hadn't seen so many skilled fighters in the team.
Most of them were still too afraid to fight the zombies, their eyes filled with fear and worry.
But now things are completely different. Their spirits have improved a lot. They not only dare to fight the zombies, but can even inflict heavy casualties on them.
Lori could vaguely see Carol and Andrea in the surveillance footage. She covered her mouth, unable to believe why they were fighting the walkers. Wouldn't it have been better to stay at the back of the group?
In fact, Caesar did not involve non-combatants such as Carol and Andrea in the battle; it was just that the team's courage was boosted by killing the zombies.
Even Carol, who is currently developing, has killed several walkers. Now that the main force of walkers is being blocked by the combat personnel in front, she has released a few walkers to practice on.
Carol naturally wouldn't miss out on a way that wasn't dangerous and could hone her combat skills.
She was dressed very warmly, with protective gear around her neck, wrists, and ankles. Carroll, holding a dagger, rammed into the walker's arms, using the momentum of her charge to plunge the dagger upwards.
Carol straightened up, twisted and pulled hard, and the black blood inside the walking corpse instantly spilled onto the ground.
Carol was panting heavily. Lacking strength, she could only use the power of running to help kill the walkers. Her skills became more and more proficient, and the walkers were killed before they could even grab her for two moves.
She couldn't help but glance at Andrea, who was physically strong, even stronger than many men.
Andrea could kick a walker aside, ride on it, and kill it. Her combat skills were quite good, and there were several corpses on the ground.
You need to eat more so you can grow stronger and protect Sofia.
Carroll looked at her slender arms and thought to herself.
Immediately, another zombie attacked, and Carol resorted to the same tactic, once again plunging into a killing spree.
Just a few minutes after Caesar gave the notification.
Rip poked his head out of the truck and shouted, "Caesar, the door's about to open!"
"Get on the bus!"
After emptying his magazine, Caesar, his breath reeking of gunpowder, turned and walked towards the convoy, shouting to his teammates, "Had your fun?"
"Come on, get in the car!"
"Hahaha!"
Dust rose from the ground, sand slowly flowed out of the sandbags, the paving stones shattered, and countless lifeless zombies lay on them.
The military base in front of the CDC looked like it had just been through a war, with corpses strewn everywhere.
creak-
The CDC garage door opened, and it was much wider than the small door that Rick and the others had entered through, allowing trucks to enter easily.
Rip's truck entered first, followed by Daryl and Moore's motorcycle, both men carrying guns and surveying the garage.
The pickup truck quickly entered, its windows wide open, revealing the dark muzzles of guns inside, with a faint smell of sulfur still lingering on them.
Finally, there were supply trucks loaded with various supplies and food, and some family cars.
The convoy's lights illuminated the dimly lit underground parking lot, where traces of blood and fighting could be vaguely seen.
Caesar was sitting in the truck when he heard two gunshots rang out in the distance.
Before Caesar could ask any questions, the Mordal brothers arrived on their motorcycle.
"Boss, there are only two little zombies, still asleep!"
Moore slung the gun over his shoulder, a few drops of blood splattered on his smiling face.
