Chapter 52
Tragic Scene
Teddy felt a vague unease and wanted to reach out and say something more.
But the next second, the truck's engine roared to life.
The sharp, cold spikes slammed into them, instantly shattering the haphazardly piled-up abandoned vehicles with a loud bang.
Teddy lost his balance, fell to the ground, grabbed the roof of an abandoned vehicle, and rolled down it to the ground.
Caesar shifted into reverse, then slammed on the gas, and the truck roared as it crashed into him again.
Compared to the last time, this time, the truck smashed through several abandoned vehicles, clearing a path.
Caesar didn't ease off the accelerator; the truck sped straight ahead, crashing into the Bison Pass.
Upon hearing the sound of a bullet piercing the truck's armor, Caesar instinctively ducked down and then glanced in the rearview mirror.
He discovered that Teddy and his men were jumping up and down, cursing, and shooting at him with guns.
The truck turned into the pass and disappeared from Teddy's sight.
Teddy watched the truck that had broken through the checkpoint disappear, then turned around and tried to use his gun to force the cars behind to stop, to prevent them from breaking through the checkpoint.
Unexpectedly, as soon as he poked his head out, his eyes widened and his mouth opened slightly.
The trucks charged forward like ferocious beasts, with an unparalleled momentum.
With the tonnage of these trucks, they could wipe out rudimentary blocking measures in an instant.
On either side of the truck were modified pickup trucks, which were obviously quite heavy and even faster.
Two pickup trucks surrounding a truck can completely clear away all abandoned vehicles.
Sure enough, the next moment, Teddy and the abandoned vehicle in front of him were smashed and sent flying.
Blood swirled in the air, fragments of his body drifted by, and Teddy watched helplessly as he was struck and torn apart.
With a thud, Teddy fell to the ground, and the abandoned vehicle that had been blocking his way earlier landed on top of him.
Before he could even utter a sound, Teddy was completely turned into a meat pie.
Not only him, but all his subordinates followed in his footsteps, all of them falling to the ground like tomatoes, forming pools of blood.
Dust flew and smoke began to rise.
The pickup trucks and other vehicles that had broken through the checkpoint came to a stop. The combat personnel looked at the pools of blood and gore on the ground and couldn't help but gag.
The truck's force was so great that it directly impacted the human body, leaving it shattered and barely recognizable as human.
Caesar drove the truck around and came back. He also noticed the puddle on the ground. His eyes twitched slightly, and he quickly waved his hand: "Get in the truck, get in the truck, make room at the door."
"Cover up the bodies before letting the family cars in from behind."
Several combatants worked quickly, picked up shovels, turned over the loose soil, and covered it up, barely managing to cover it up.
"Moll, go and call Carol, tell her to bring her people in directly."
"Okay!"
Moore, holding a gun, was kicking an abandoned vehicle.
The abandoned vehicle was on its side, wobbling precariously, looking unstable as if it might flip over at any moment.
Mohr stepped onto the motorcycle, launched himself off, and sped out of the pass.
Daryl took over Moore's work and kicked the abandoned vehicle hard, sending it crashing down and kicking up a cloud of dust.
When Daryl saw what was under the abandoned vehicle, a strong smell of blood hit him, and Daryl turned pale and turned around.
To be honest, Daryl felt that he could handle these things quite well, after all, he had been a hunter since he was a child, had killed many animals, and had seen many deaths.
But the scene before him still made him feel uncomfortable.
The corpse was torn into pieces, each piece was crushed, and the flesh beneath the skin was squeezed out like patina. The head was also completely deflated, turning from three-dimensional to two-dimensional.
Caesar saw it too, picked up a shovel, went forward and turned over the mound of earth to bury the body.
In such a horrific state, with his head shriveled up and his brains drained, he could no longer become a walking corpse.
After quickly resolving the problem, family cars and some trucks storing supplies entered, followed by Jenner's experimental vehicle and Guillermo's escort team.
Jenner sat in the passenger seat of the experimental vehicle, looking at the remaining bloodstains outside. He knew what had happened, his brows furrowed. He understood that he needed to accept this cruel apocalypse.
So Jenner got out of the car and went to find Caesar.
"Are you sure?" Caesar looked at Jenner in surprise, finding his request rather audacious.
Jenner nodded solemnly, glancing at Mor, Daryl, and the others standing beside Caesar.
They were all captains of combat squads, had fought the walkers many times, understood the danger of the walkers, and understood Caesar's meaning in having everyone fight the walkers.
However, they never really thought highly of Jenner.
Because he had previously organized non-combatants to fight the walkers, Jenner asked Caesar if he wanted to go.
Caesar agreed, after all, Jenner was indeed very valuable.
That's why squad leaders like Mor and Daryl looked down on his seemingly weak appearance.
Jenner has been thinking about this for the past couple of days. He can't keep running away. He chose to live in the apocalypse, so he has to accept this world eventually.
So Jenner appeared before Caesar.
"Alright then!"
Caesar used a shovel to turn over the soil in front of him, and yes, it was exactly the same kind of good guy that Teddy had put together.
"Yue~" Jenner overestimated himself. He turned around and knelt on the ground, vomiting violently.
"Ha ha ha ha!!!"
Knowing this would happen, Moore burst into laughter, clutching his stomach and laughing so hard he almost fell over.
Daryl chuckled, while Carol crossed her arms, a faint smile on her face.
Amy's expression wasn't much better; she hid behind Caesar, avoiding looking at the things on the ground.
Caesar stopped bothering him and covered it back up with soil.
After all the vehicles in the convoy had passed, Caesar gave the order.
Trucks pushed abandoned vehicles back into the pass, and some were even hoisted onto top of each other.
A new line of defense was re-established. Although it was not more solid than before, there were no more robbers blocking the road.
Caesar drove the lead truck, guiding the convoy ahead of the caravan.
The roads inside the valley are all dirt roads, unlike the paved roads outside. Heavy vehicles like trucks need to be extra careful when moving through the valley.
The top of the truck occasionally scraped against the surrounding tree branches.
Fortunately, Caesar didn't buy the car himself, so he wasn't too upset.
Soon, Caesar saw the fence of his ranch and the traces of various buildings inside.
When Caesar spotted the location of the ranch fences, his eyes narrowed slightly.
The movement of trucks makes a lot of noise.
The three who remained on the ranch were: the elderly Lloyd, the black man Colby wearing a white cowboy hat, and the mature and steady Ryan.
