Chapter 99
Good morning, everyone.
The town is taking shape, with the residential and core areas largely completed, all constructed of solid wood.
The surrounding forests have been almost completely cut down.
The whole town was filled with the breath of new life, and everyone had a smile on their face and their eyes were full of hope for the future.
When the time came, almost all the residents came out of their homes, laughing and joking as they headed towards the core area.
The core area has a large square paved with stones, and in the center of the square is the council hall, which is the administrative office area of the town.
Caesar, Amy, Carol, More, Daryl...
The town's core leaders stood before the crowd, awaiting the arrival of the residents.
After everyone had arrived, Caesar took a few steps forward, and Morales came up and handed him a microphone.
Caesar took it and said loudly, "Good morning, everyone."
As Caesar greeted them, thunderous applause erupted from the crowd, interspersed with cheers.
Feeling the residents' affection, Caesar's smile widened. "I've gathered everyone here today for a few things."
"The first thing is that our ranch has become the only ranch in Black Pine Valley; the entire valley belongs to us."
When the good news was announced, the residents who had a deep affection for the town jumped for joy.
The cheers erupted again, louder and the applause even more deafening.
Caesar was pleased with his results and continued, "Of course, for everyone's safety, our combat teams are out there every day."
"We've cleared the walkers out of the valley, so you can all rest assured about the safety of the town from now on."
"I am dedicated to enabling everyone to live a peaceful and stable life before the apocalypse, so that everyone's children can run freely on the grasslands without worrying about the appearance of zombies or the sudden arrival of death."
Caesar used children as a starting point to express the sentiments of many parents.
The parents in the crowd all reached out and touched their children's heads, their eyes full of tenderness.
As parents, who doesn't want their child to have a normal childhood? Yet, their own child's childhood is inevitably accompanied by bloodshed, violence, and cruelty.
Caesar's actions and thoughts made them feel incredibly at ease, and their gazes towards him had changed from reverence to worship, even to a degree of fanaticism.
"And from that day forward, we officially changed our name to Yellowstone."
"I promise you that I will continue to expand my power so that we can live easily in the apocalypse. I will continue to develop so that we can live better."
"I will not compromise with the outside world, so that we can live with dignity. I will make all of us strong in this apocalypse."
Caesar's repeated promises brought the crowd's emotions to a climax.
Countless people raised their arms and cheered.
Yellowstone!
Yellowstone!
Yellowstone!!!
The powerful sound soared into the sky.
Caesar looked at them with a sense of awe, knowing that he was destined to live an incredibly exciting life.
"The first thing is officially over. Now, Dr. Jenner will tell you the second thing."
Caesar extended his palm, inviting Dr. Jenner to move forward.
Dr. Jenner was wearing a white coat, and he looked much better than when he left the CDC. His complexion was rosy, and there were fewer bloodshot eyes.
A spirited Jenner stepped forward, nodded to Caesar, took the microphone, and said:
"Hello everyone, I am Dr. Jenner."
"Many people may not know me, so let me introduce myself. I am a researcher from the CDC, and I participated in the Wildfire Project to research a vaccine to treat the zombie virus."
CDC?
Wildfire Project?
A vaccine for the zombie virus?
A series of messages bombarded the minds of many residents, who had all heard of a reclusive and uninvolved person in the town's upper echelons.
But they never expected that it would be a researcher studying the zombie virus, and from the CDC at that.
The CDC signifies official certification and authenticity.
It's not that the residents who initially visited the CDC didn't mention it, but every time they did, no one believed them and they were even ridiculed.
Gradually, no one talked about it anymore.
Those who joined the town later naturally didn't know.
The crowd froze, staring in disbelief at Dr. Jenner.
Seeing that there was little cheering, Dr. Jenner continued, "Next, I'm going to give you a brief explanation of the zombie virus."
Dr. Jenner recounted all that she knew about the zombie virus.
For example, everyone is infected with the zombie virus, and no matter how they die, they will become zombies.
Furthermore, you cannot come into contact with the blood or tissue fluids of zombies, let alone their flesh and tissues. If they enter your body, you will turn into a zombie in no time.
In addition, there are weaknesses of the walkers. They lose their aggressiveness when their arms and jaws are removed, and they can conceal the presence of the living, thus allowing them to pass through groups of walkers.
All of this captivated everyone who heard it.
Only then did they realize that this was the reason why the zombies did this, and how to avoid them.
The more you know about walkers, the less afraid you will be of them.
At this moment, Caesar stepped forward and said, "From now on, every adult in our town must learn how to fight the walkers. You don't need to develop superb combat skills; we just hope you have the ability to protect yourself."
After learning about the walkers, everyone's fear of them dropped to zero. Without Caesar having to say much, people volunteered to kill as many walkers as they wanted.
Some of them were a bit timid and cautious, but the next second someone next to them pointed at their head and cursed, "You coward!"
His blood boiled, and he immediately agreed.
This went much more smoothly than the first time.
"Next is the third thing," Caesar said, pressing his hands down.
The residents below understood and quieted down, becoming exceptionally obedient.
"Our town needs development and expansion. We need to develop a construction plan, at least to ensure that our town has a paved road or a cement road."
"Repair the Bison Pass so the zombies can't get in."
"And then there's farming. The town isn't self-sufficient right now, so we need suitable land for farming..."
Caesar explained the current predicament to everyone.
It's very difficult for a faction to be self-sufficient. For example, Omaha was killed by CRM's poison gas bombs just because he ate too much of Philadelphia's food.
Caesar was very aware of the crisis. The food he collected in Atlanta was enough to sustain the population for a long time, but now the population has increased several times over and can no longer support them for much longer.
Fortunately, the grain reserves from the pastures in the valley were enough to sustain them for a certain period of time.
Planting is urgent.
