Chapter 47

Trouble?

The parking lot was quite far from the CDC, so it didn't affect Caesar and the others' sleep much at night; in fact, they slept even better.

After getting up in the morning, the night patrol personnel ate breakfast and then went to sleep.

Caesar did not eat breakfast with the others, but instead enjoyed the treatment befitting a leader.

Then, Amy carried a steaming hot breakfast to Caesar, pursed her lips, and held out the plate, "Here, breakfast."

Caesar took the breakfast and wolfed it down. As he ate, he raised an eyebrow and glanced at Amy: "Did you make this?"

Amy's face lit up with a smile. "You could tell?"

"Yes." Caesar nodded firmly. "Carol's cooking is better than yours."

Amy paused for a moment, then pouted, feeling wronged. She had hardly ever cooked before, and felt that she had already done a great job.

I didn't expect to be disliked.

However, Amy's aggrieved expression quickly turned into a smile as she saw that Caesar had still finished his meal.

Seemingly noticing Amy's expression, Caesar said calmly, "This is the end of the world; we must cherish our food."

Although she didn't know whether Caesar was being frugal or for some other reason, Amy was still very happy. After taking the disc, she skipped away.

"By the way, go and inform Carol and the captains of the combat squads to stay in the vicinity for the next two days. We'll kill some walkers to practice and let those who have never killed walkers before hone their courage."

Amy paused, turned to look at Caesar, and asked in surprise, "Even non-combatants?"

"Yes, even non-combatants." Caesar nodded noncommittally, glancing at Amy's blue eyes.

Under the sunlight, it truly shimmered with captivating charm.

"There are many unexpected things in the world. If a zombie gets close to a non-combatant, the zombie won't stop attacking. I need to make sure everyone in the team has the ability to protect themselves." Caesar didn't know why, but he explained a few more words.

"Alright, get on it and spread the word."

Caesar waved his hand and went to equip himself with his blast suit.

"The bomb suit is in the box next to your underwear. You can see it when you open it. I've cleaned it very thoroughly." As Caesar disappeared into the truck, Amy called out thoughtfully, making a megaphone shape with her hand.

"Alright, alright, alright," Caesar's voice carried a hint of panic. "Stop shouting."

"Oh, oh!" Amy didn't know why Caesar seemed embarrassed and annoyed. She was his secretary, so wasn't it normal for her to clean and put away his underwear?

Isn't this exactly what all the secretaries Andrea described to herself did?

After Amy learned that Caesar had found the bomb suit, she quickly went to find the captains of the other combat teams to inform them of the situation.

As the head of logistics, Carol was put in charge of all non-combat personnel by Caesar, mainly responsible for the team's food and miscellaneous tasks.

With the help of Jacqueline, Andrea, Amy, and others, Carol did a great job.

"Carol, I have something to tell you." Amy was panting as she ran. She had already notified all the combat squad leaders, and only Carol was left.

With a gentle smile, Carol quickly helped Amy up and handed her a glass of water. "Here, tell me slowly."

Amy took the cup, sat down, and after a moment, said, "Caesar asked me to inform you that you need to tell all the members that everyone needs to undergo combat training."

A thoughtful look flashed in Carol's eyes, then she nodded in realization. "I understand what Caesar means. I will inform the others."

Carol was very efficient. After Ed's death, Carol's confidence grew stronger and stronger. She gradually felt her own power. She could kill walkers and manage the team well.

Compared to living a life of fear and trembling under Ed's beatings, she now felt a sense of boundless freedom.

Carol told Sophia to take the children in the group to another place to play.

She then gathered all the non-combatants in the team, most of whom were women, and even included the elderly and young people.

Among these people were skilled workers, such as Jim, who was good at repairing cars. After surviving the quarry, he never showed any unusual behavior and honestly repaired cars for the team.

There was also a welder; the spiked corner of Rip's truck was his masterpiece.

Carol stood before these people, a smile on her face as always, quietly waiting for their conversation to end.

Perhaps they were tired of talking, or perhaps Carol's gaze was scorching, but the crowd gradually quieted down.

Carroll then spoke, "Everyone has gathered here not because of me, but because of Caesar, our leader, who has given an order."

"That means everyone has to fight the zombies in close combat with melee weapons."

"What?!"

"Isn't this going to kill us? No, absolutely not!"

"No, no, no, I'm too old. I don't want to fight those monsters. I'll definitely die."

"That's impossible. The leader would never send us to our deaths."

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

"..."

Panic spread instantly through the crowd, and when people realized that Carroll was not joking, the unrest naturally began.

They irrationally suspected Carol and deliberately spread false orders just to send them to their deaths.

"A bunch of sissies." Andrea crossed her arms, glancing sideways at the restless crowd with disdain in her eyes.

Amy pursed her lips. She didn't really understand why Caesar wanted everyone to have the ability to fight walkers, but she believed in Caesar. Caesar was right, and every decision he made was correct.

The commotion grew louder and louder, and anger compelled them to take steps closer to Carroll.

Carol's expression didn't change at all; she still wore a faint smile and coldly watched everything.

The convoy had a large proportion of non-combatants, and while there were many who were willing to fight, it was always a minority who made the majority of the noise.

They are cowardly and foolish, trying to determine the weight of words by the loudness of the language, but this is unrealistic.

Carol knew that she couldn't suppress them for the time being, so she could only let them make a big fuss to alert the combat personnel.

She didn't care if she got beaten, after all, she had survived so many near-death beatings, so this little thing wasn't enough to frighten her.

Sure enough, the noise grew louder and louder, attracting more and more combatants who began to raise their weapons and shout orders.

"All of you better behave yourselves, are you trying to cause trouble?"

A hand shoved the voiced combatant across the face and pushed him aside. Moore wore a wicked grin and carried a carbine on his shoulder.

"Hey, are you all tired of living?"

As he spoke, Moore subtly pointed the gun at the rioting crowd.

The person targeted by the gun immediately froze, his mouth tightly shut.

Being pointed at by the combatants didn't scare them too much; they'd never seen them attack their own people before, and Moore had always had a bad reputation within the group.

He was extremely rude to others, and there were even rumors that combat personnel in the team had been killed because Mole couldn't stand that person and secretly took action.
