Chapter 97
: Let you hang like a damn teru teru bozu .
The blonde woman shuddered and shook her head repeatedly.
The man with the triangular eyes shook his head repeatedly, as if this compensation were some kind of poison.
The other companions seemed less afraid; they were simply following the two men's orders, but that didn't mean they had no opinions.
One of the men, who had tattoos on his face, suddenly muttered, "Bitch!"
Caesar narrowed his eyes and looked sharply at the tattooed man.
Bass, who was standing a few meters behind the group, naturally heard the tattooed man's voice as well.
The tattooed man ignored the reproachful looks from his companions—they didn't care about his life or death, but were only worried about being implicated.
Rip's bear-like, massive body was about to charge forward when Beth patted Rip's chest with one hand, her eyes telling Rip that she would do it herself.
Beth walked behind the tattooed man, placed her hands on the back of his chair, and said in an icy tone:
"What do you think will happen if you don't sell the ranch to us?"
"Your ranch fence will be dismantled in less than an hour."
"Your cattle and sheep will be stolen, your grain will be seized, and then what about you?"
"We'll put a noose around your necks, drag you back to Caesar's Ranch on horseback, and then hang you up like a damn teru teru bozu."
Bass's tone was like a fierce winter wind, lashing coldly at the faces of the group, especially the tattooed man.
As the tattooed man listened to Beth's description, he could imagine himself hanging from a tree, his back a bloody mess, the pain engulfing his entire body, vultures awaiting his death, and the dripping blood attracting zombies.
They all await their own death, and then have a feast.
The tattooed man's body trembled, and then he heard the sound of bass.
"But now, we've saved your lives, and we've even decided to compensate you and let you join us."
"Your wife and children are still alive, you are still alive, shouldn't you at least speak more politely?"
The tattooed man fearfully uttered two words: "Thank you."
"You're welcome."
Beth straightened up and calmly said, "You're welcome."
The show is over.
Caesar stood up, his gaze falling on the group beneath his cowboy hat, and tapped the table with his hand.
"Today is the first and the last time."
"If you offend the ranch's leadership, I'll hang you in the middle of town so everyone can see how miserable you are."
After saying that, Caesar patted Morales on the shoulder and walked out of the cabin.
Glenn and his team came out, leaving Morales behind to discuss the plan to move to the town.
Stepping out of the house, Caesar walked to the car, looked up at Rip who was walking over, and asked, "Beth isn't angry, is she?"
Rip smiled, a hint of pride showing on his rough face.
"Her previous job was to ruin other people's companies, and the insults she received were much more severe than this. To her, these are all minor matters."
"If she was really unhappy, she would have made me break that person's shoulders and neck."
Caesar shrugged. "You two are truly something else."
Just then, a sound of lightning speed appeared on the horizon, accompanied by the roar of an engine.
Caesar looked over first and saw that it was a motorcycle.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be Daryl.
"Daryl? What's he doing here?" Caesar murmured in confusion.
The sound of the motorcycles also caught the attention of Glenn's team. Glenn raised his hand, "Alert!"
The members of Glenn's squad quickly stepped forward, leaning against the pickup truck or using other cover, and aimed their guns at the rapidly advancing figures.
Glenn calmly aimed at his target, displaying the composure of a competent squad leader.
Caesar was somewhat moved by Glenn's growth. He walked over, patted Glenn on the shoulder, and said, "That's Daryl. Put the gun down."
Glenn paused for a moment, but without questioning, raised his hand again: "Alert lifted."
The other members stopped being on guard and spread out to surround Caesar and the others, their eyes occasionally glancing at Daryl who was approaching.
Daryl, wearing goggles, stylishly swung his tail, kicking up a cloud of mud, and raised his chin.
Caesar, with foresight, was the first to dodge to the side.
Only Rip and Glenn, the two unlucky guys, were caught off guard. They didn't care about Daryl at all, and rushed forward to pull Daryl off the motorcycle and rub him on the ground.
"Hey, feed me. I didn't mean to, let go of me..."
"Damn it, where the hell are you touching?"
"..."
The three of them were in a chaotic mess. Beth, who was standing not far away, was not hit and looked at Rip, who was acting like a child, and laughed heartily.
Caesar walked over to Beth and looked at the three of them, just like her. "So, do you have plans to get married?"
"Marriage?" Beth looked at Caesar in confusion. "In this damned apocalypse?"
Caesar tilted his head. "Why not?"
"There will come a day when you will think, 'Ah, this is a fucking good day to get married.'"
"Believe me, kidnap a priest, officiate a wedding, and you'll be satisfied with that wedding for the rest of your life."
"I like this wedding ceremony." Beth smiled, her gaze returning to Rip, but this time with a deeper meaning.
Caesar said no more.
After the three separated, Caesar stepped forward.
When Daryl went out, he was wearing a leather jacket that Carol had cleaned, but now it was covered in weeds, and even his hair was a mess.
Daryl's goggles pressed down so hard that his eyes looked like they'd been punched, making him look extremely disheveled.
"Is there something you need?" Caesar asked.
Daryl looked up at the sky, as if marveling at how blue the sky was and how white the clouds were.
It seems we didn't hear Caesar's question.
Caesar paused for a moment, then laughed and said, "Alright, alright, I won't ask. Do whatever you want."
Caesar beckoned Rip and Glenn over, put his arms around their shoulders, and whispered, "You two keep an eye on what Daryl is up to later."
"So mysterious," Rip said.
"I suspect Daryl is in love."
Glenn held up a finger, and a wonderful conjecture came to him.
Caesar thought about it and realized that the possibility was too low. In his memory, Daryl had only had two relationships.
Moreover, it takes more than a decade; it's not that easy to find love then.
Without giving it any further thought, Caesar, Glenn, and Rip leaned against the pickup truck, keeping their eyes fixed on Daryl.
Daryl walked into the house with his hands and feet in a rather awkward manner, as if he were racing.
Caesar was about to pull the two men into the house when he saw a black man wearing a bulletproof vest standing nearby.
The black man wasn't tall or muscular; he had the typical build of a middle-aged man.
