Chapter 26
Charge! Charge! Charge! Charge!
The pickup truck drove carefully on the highway, and a few zombies staggered over from the roadside.
Before the zombies could get close, the car window opened and a gun barrel popped out.
With a few muffled gunshots, the zombies fell to the ground.
Not long after they started driving, Caesar picked up the walkie-talkie and gave the order:
"We are about to reach our destination. All personnel on high alert."
With a few screeching sounds, several cars pulled over to the side of the road.
The car door opened, and Moore got out with a sinister grin, grabbing a machete and charging at the surrounding zombies.
His men charged forward with him, while Daryl brought out his crossbow and followed behind.
A few minutes later, the nearby zombies were wiped out.
The rest of the people got off the bus.
Caesar twisted his body, taking off his previous cowboy outfit and putting on a bomb suit.
Morales, T-Zai, and several other team members were dressed similarly. Most of them were carrying sharp melee weapons and firearms on their backs.
This kind of attire is for those in charge of tackling tough challenges.
Mo'er shook the blood off his machete and walked over, panting heavily. "Boss, should we just rush in and loot the supplies?"
"Come here, Glenn, Jimmy, you two." Caesar ignored Moore's reckless words and beckoned to Daryl: "Daryl, you come here too."
Seeing the group gather around, Caesar looked at Glenn and Jimmy.
"Listen carefully, your two teams will mainly be responsible for scouting, that is, going in to investigate."
"Our goal is all food; anything edible, we'll take it. If time is tight, we'll prioritize high-calorie, high-sugar foods. Understand?"
After Caesar explained himself, he looked directly at the two men.
This time, Glenn and Jimmy didn't avoid eye contact, and Glenn nodded solemnly: "I understand."
Hmm, he looks quite mature now.
Caesar silently praised them, then looked at Mor and Daryl.
"Daryl, your crossbow is very accurate. You will take Moore and a few other men and roam outside, mainly to support us and Glenn."
"Once there's a large-scale zombie riot, you need to make a scene to divert their attention."
Daryl nodded, and the hot-tempered young man calmed down a bit.
"Also, keep an eye on your brother, don't let him get carried away," Caesar said, pointing at Mor.
Moore looked unconvinced, but to his surprise, Daryl replied seriously, "Okay, I'll keep an eye on him."
Moore's indignant expression instantly turned into a teasing one, and he stepped forward and hugged Daryl tightly.
"Hey bro, are you sure you can keep an eye on me?"
Daryl glanced at him. "Don't worry, I'm a great archer. It'll be easy for me to shoot you in the butt with a crossbow."
Upon hearing this, Moore's expression changed slightly, and he subconsciously performed a Kegel exercise.
Everyone immediately smiled, slightly easing the tense atmosphere of the impending battle.
"Alright, alright." After everyone had finished laughing, Caesar saw several zombies emerge from the alley next door.
"Morales, take two men and handle this."
Morales, his entire face hidden inside his helmet, mumbled a reply, then turned and beckoned to two other people before walking toward the walkers.
"Alright, let's finish this quickly." Caesar's expression turned serious again. "Morales, T-boy, and I will be in charge of the assault."
"Wait a minute, Glenn, before you go in, our team will go forward to draw most of the walkers' attention."
"You need to find the right moment and rush in. Don't linger, don't fight the walkers, get inside as quickly as possible. Then seal off the market tightly and find the food storage location as soon as possible."
"Notify me via walkie-talkie once you find it."
"I'll lead my team to lure all the walkers away. You, Daryl and Moore, will provide backup for Glenn and the others."
"Drive all the vehicles to the market entrance and then quickly move the food."
Caesar knew that first there would be fighting, then he would have to move large amounts of food, and he would try to avoid using guns as much as possible.
This is a challenging task.
"action!!!"
There was a wide square in front of the market. Perhaps it was during the apocalypse that many people were rushing to buy food in the market.
Someone in the crowd contracted the virus, suddenly fell ill, and rapidly infected others, causing the entire market to fall into chaos.
There were many shopping carts in the square, most of which were piled high with items.
Caesar, along with Morales, T-boy, and several team members, walked to one side of the square.
Morales was immediately drawn to the dazzling array of shopping carts in the square. He licked his lips and exclaimed, "Wow, there's so much food here! It's making me hungry."
Previously at the camp, food sources were limited, often barely enough to fill their stomachs. Morales's mouth had long since grown numb.
T-boy wasn't much better off, his eyes fixed on several shopping carts containing some sweet snacks.
Snickers and chocolates are T-boy's favorites.
The same applies to the other team members.
Caesar smiled, patted them on the shoulder, and said, "Gather your spirits, it's time to begin."
After saying that, Caesar turned to look at the zombies wandering in the square. "But don't worry, we'll be able to eat them when we get back tonight."
Caesar watched the second hand on his watch turn.
Ding--
The faint ticking of the clock signaled that the appointed time had arrived.
Caesar patted his chest and shouted, "Action! Begin!"
Immediately, the group followed Caesar.
The entire Caesar squad was dressed in uniform, tall, and carried cold, blood-stained weapons.
Caesar roared, "Charge!"
Caesar crouched slightly, clenched his fists and bent his arms, exerting all his strength, using a riot shield as a battering ram to crash into the horde of corpses.
Morales and T-Zai sat on either side of Caesar, pushing him forward.
The small team charged into the horde of zombies like bulls, knocking over a dozen of them in one go.
This immediately triggered a riot among the zombies.
The team members strained with their legs, pushing forward with all their might, and the team continued to surge forward.
The zombies passed by, their claws reaching for the bomb suit, but they missed and caused no damage.
Caesar gritted his teeth and charged forward.
As they crashed into more and more zombies ahead, the accelerating procession gradually slowed down to a steady pace, and then it began to decelerate.
The moment he stopped, Caesar did not hesitate for a moment, and flung the riot shield away with his large hand.
He swatted away several zombies beside him.
Caesar's goal had been achieved, and all the zombies in the square were now focused on the group of people.
Caesar pulled out his hand axe and chopped it several times.
In an instant, severed hands and heads flew everywhere, blood splattered, and even Caesar's mask became somewhat blurred.
Caesar shouted, "Retreat!"
"Retreat!!!"
The passage ahead wasn't closed yet, and the zombies behind them hadn't completely surrounded them; this was Caesar and the others' only way to survive.
Morales's ears were filled with Caesar's shouts. He was wielding a fire axe and hacking wildly, yelling back, "Retreat!"
