Return Chapter
Chapter 203 Return
Caesar walked along the streets of Woodbury, and the further he went, the fewer people there were.
Gradually, the area became deserted.
Caesar walked calmly, glancing left and right.
The building next door was silent. Caesar strolled closer and peered through the window.
There was no trace of anyone inside.
It seems that no one lives in this latter part of the area.
Caesar thought to himself, "I should go check out the abandoned factory area."
With that thought in mind, Caesar took a step back and looked from this direction, where he could already see the exterior of the abandoned factory.
She has an ordinary appearance and is not particularly attractive.
Caesar walked straight in, and as soon as he entered, the light dimmed and the surroundings became much darker.
Looking up, the spacious factory buildings were covered in rust and dust.
There were no machine tools or other items left behind after the factory was abandoned; they had probably already been cleared out.
Caesar was somewhat disappointed, but he quickly recovered his composure.
I didn't have high hopes to begin with, since Woodbury didn't have any industrial production capacity in the original series; everything came from robbery and plunder.
Caesar immediately left without lingering and quickly walked out through a small back door in the factory.
As soon as I stepped outside, the light was blinding.
Caesar tilted his head to shield his eyes, but his vision quickly returned to normal.
Look around.
There's a wall right in front of us; if we climb over it, we'll be outside.
The wall is very high; an ordinary person without training should not be able to climb over it.
To the right is a spacious concrete playground, and next to the playground is a large rusty iron cage.
The cage was covered by a black cloth, so it was impossible to see what was underneath.
Caesar raised an eyebrow and listened carefully; he could hear a rustling sound.
They are walking corpses.
Caesar made a quick judgment and approached the cage.
The zombie inside the cage seemed to sense someone approaching and immediately went berserk, pounding the cage frantically and letting out hoarse roars.
Unlike the sound of a bare hand striking iron, you can also hear some crisp metallic clanging sounds.
Caesar sensed something was amiss, so he reached out, grabbed the black cloth, and pulled it outwards.
The black cloth was lifted, revealing everything inside.
Caesar frowned.
Just as he suspected, the cages were full of zombies.
But these zombies are different from normal zombies.
There were only a few zombies in the cage, not many in number, but they were all quite bizarre.
There was a zombie with steel spikes sticking out of its back, like a porcupine.
The zombie's arm was cut off, the cut surface was smooth, a cylinder was inserted into the break, and a gleaming cleaver was welded to the other end of the cylinder.
Some zombies had their jaws and arms cut off, but then stitched back together. They looked somewhat grotesque, but they were the most docile, standing blankly in the corner, motionless.
Looking at them one by one, Caesar could clearly see strong signs of human intervention on each of the zombies.
Moreover, the modification of the zombies was clearly not done haphazardly; the people who conducted the experiments must have had their own desired direction for modification.
Take that docile dog, for example. Removing its arms and jaw can make it lose all its aggression and become more docile than a dog.
You can take your dog for a walk as long as you put a leash on it.
The reason for re-sewing the walker's jaw and arms was probably to see if the walker could reattach severed limbs like a human, and whether the severed limbs would still function.
After it takes effect, will the zombies regain their aggressiveness?
These are all areas that need to be explored.
Caesar smiled; the results obtained from such an experiment were far from rigorous.
Suturing a severed limb requires a highly skilled surgeon who can meticulously suture blood vessels and other tissues to make reattachment possible.
Judging from the crude stitching techniques on the zombie's body, it's possible that even the stitching was learned on the spot.
The idea that the experiment would succeed is utter nonsense.
After observing the walkers, Caesar decided to leave.
Just as Caesar took a few steps, the sound of metal clashing rang out, and the zombies were still banging on the cage.
Looking back, the zombies had their mouths open, blood and foam dripping from them. Their bodies were emaciated, their skin was ashen, and their hair was sparse, like a few blades of grass growing on dry land.
They just stood there, roaring.
Caesar paused for a moment, then sighed softly, "I'll see you off."
With a creak, the cage opened.
The zombies emerged from the cage one by one, staggering along.
The sunlight shone on them, as if they were draped in a golden veil.
The body was stabbed and slashed with a sharp blade, black blood soaking the cement floor, and the corpse no longer moved.
Caesar returned the way he came, walking back to Andrea and Milton.
At this moment, Milton's face was pale, his eyes were red, and a few tears were stuck in his eyelashes.
He sobbed twice, turned his back, and wiped his eyes.
It looks like she was crying quite a bit just now.
Caesar looked at Andrea, his eyes asking: Is it all sorted out?
Andrea nodded slightly.
Caesar's lips curled up; Huangshi had acquired another talented individual.
Perhaps because they were about to leave Woodbury, the residents were incredibly quick and efficient, loading all their belongings onto the truck in just one or two hours.
Food, medical resources, and firearms and ammunition from Woodbury were all loaded onto pickup trucks, ready to be transported to Yellowstone.
The inventory was done by Andrea. During her long stay at Woodbury, her administrative and coordination abilities improved significantly, to say the least.
Andrea pulled out a megaphone, stepped onto the armored vehicle, and shouted, "All vehicles, stay close ahead! If any problems arise, use walkie-talkies, shout, whatever method you choose—"
After giving her instructions, Andrea got back into the car.
Seeing Caesar fiddling with something beside her, she said irritably, "As the boss of Yellowstone, you're really doing a great job!"
Caesar smiled and said calmly, "I'm the boss now, so it's definitely my subordinates who do the work."
"If I had to work as a boss, wouldn't I be a boss for nothing?"
Caesar's words left Andrea speechless for a moment.
Thinking about it carefully, it does seem to be true.
Andrea sat there sulking.
The convoy started, carrying a full load of various supplies and a large number of people, heading towards Yellowstone.
Caesar glanced out the window.
In the already sparsely populated United States, these rural roads are surrounded by blue skies and white clouds, and the trees seem to dance in the wind.
It looks so refreshing.
Caesar was in high spirits, having just dealt with the governor, a major scourge.
"Morales, play some music."
Morales remained silent and turned on the music on the center console with one hand.
The melodious country music drifted out, the notes leaping in the air, making people sway their bodies and their emotions rise.
The journey was uneventful, and the convoy arrived in Huangshi safely, accompanied by music.
