Chapter 126

Help me investigate one person

Chapter 126 Help me investigate someone

"Coulson? What's he doing here? Does S.H.I.E.L.D. want to recruit me?" Tony thought he would have some peace and quiet after throwing Nick Fury out of Stark Tower last time, but he didn't expect that Coulson would come knocking on his door again so soon.

But looking at the team members still moving equipment, I felt that chatting with Coulson would be more interesting than being a foreman here.

"Eric, you take charge here. Just assemble it according to Jarvis's requirements." After handing over the important task of being the foreman to Eric, Tony quickly left Jarvis's mechanical fortress. Staying there for too long was inevitably a bit depressing.

After seeing Tony leave, Eric immediately ran to the spot where Tony had been sitting and began issuing orders. Sitting was more comfortable; even super soldiers get tired of standing for long periods.

Coulson, standing at the entrance of Umbrella, felt rather helpless. Although he had arrived at the gates of Umbrella, he still hadn't figured out what to say to Tony.

Coming to Umbrella to meet Tony is a last resort. Whether or not he meets Tony Coulson is not important. He just wants to get into Umbrella and take a look around. His real purpose is to find out if there are any clues about Black Widow Natasha.

That's right, Natasha has gone missing, completely without warning.

Or rather, there were signs. Natasha said she seemed to have memory problems, but because the opportunity was rare, Nick Fury allowed Natasha to continue her undercover work even though her blood sample was normal. Then, one day, Natasha simply disappeared.

Coulson was sent to clean up the mess left by Nick Fury and to find Natasha.

Coulson pressed his earpiece and said, "Hawkeye, how's the reconnaissance going? Any chance of infiltrating?"

Hawkeye's helpless voice came through the earpiece: "There's absolutely no chance. There are twice as many cameras as last time! And judging from the size and appearance of the cameras, they're not just for monitoring; they're equipped with infrared and temperature sensors too. There's no way to get in by stealth."

After reporting the situation, Hawkeye suggested, "Why don't we confront Tony Stark and ransom Natasha? He's a businessman, he shouldn't go too far, right?"

Hawkeye's idea was also reasonable. Generally speaking, unless they possess top-secret intelligence, agents captured by enemy countries are used as bargaining chips or bargaining chips.

"That's what I think too, but we need to find out whether Natasha has actually been arrested, and not just because she's an undercover agent and can't leave, like some kind of secret research project that prevents her from going out."

"What's the difference between that and being arrested? I think if they really do experiments, it's only a matter of time before Natasha's biological knowledge is exposed." Hawkeye wasn't optimistic, after all, Natasha had never been out of contact for such a long time before.

"Let's try to confirm the news first. And if we really want to ransom him, I don't think Stark will ask for a low price. Stark hasn't settled accounts with S.H.I.E.L.D. for the T-virus theft by Rumlow last time. Maybe he'll settle accounts with them this time too." Coulson was very confident in the capitalist's tendency to skim off every opportunity.

"Watch out! Stark's out, and he seems to want to see you!" Hawkeye suddenly said.

"What's going on? I've made so many appointments before and never got to see him. Why is it so easy this time?" Although the appointment was to see Tony Stark, Coulson didn't expect to actually see Tony. He just wanted to get into Umbrella and see Wesker.

Although Wesker might not necessarily meet her, this was just a casual attempt, and he also took Hawkeye along to do some reconnaissance. The actual search for Natasha would be done after a proper plan was made.

"You'd better come up with a reason to see Tony Stark right away," Hawkeye quickly reminded Coulson, knowing he hadn't thought of one.

The security personnel at the entrance also received the message, came out and opened the gate, saying to Coulson, "Agent Coulson, you can go in now. I suggest you follow the instructions and don't wander off. We cannot guarantee your safety if you deviate from the designated route."

Coulson smiled and nodded, then got into his car and drove toward the Umbrella office building. Along the way, monitors lit up signs indicating where to go and where not to go, with signs of shooting figures flashing – a blatant threat.

Although the vehicle dutifully drove towards the office building, the reconnaissance equipment on board was quite unreliable, recording everything it saw, to be handed over to the intelligence analysis department as intelligence for the production plan.

On the same familiar floor, Coulson easily found his way to Tony's office, having already prepared a reason for seeing Tony.

As soon as Coulson entered, he greeted, "Hello, Mr. Tony Stark."

"Agent Coulson, what's going on this time?" Tony was genuinely curious.

"I am here today on behalf of S.H.I.E.L.D. to discuss with you the purchase of the T-virus enhancement drug."

"These are minor matters; you can discuss them with Wesker. As long as the price is reasonable, we're willing to sell to any US government agency," Tony said nonchalantly, showing little interest in S.H.I.E.L.D. and not wanting to get entangled with them any further.

Tony's quick agreement left Coulson somewhat at a loss for words. After all, it was just an excuse he had come up with, and according to the staff at the last Umbrella press conference, Tony didn't want to make a deal with S.H.I.E.L.D., so he had only said that to chat a little longer.

Now that Tony has agreed, Coulson is at a loss. After all, he is just an agent, at most a squad leader, and he really can't make the decision to buy the T-virus enhancer.

In order to continue the conversation with Tony, Coulson had no choice but to say shamelessly, "In addition to purchasing the T-virus enhancement drug, we also want to invest our technology and participate in the research and development of the T-virus."

You can't possibly agree to that, can you? As long as you don't agree, we can keep arguing. If we can't reach an agreement in one go, I'll come back next time and try to subtly observe Umbrella to see if I can find any clues.

Tony was puzzled by Coulson's words. Although spies are shameless, based on his understanding of Coulson from several movies, he was not that kind of agent, or rather, he was not the type of agent who did this job.

So he must have other motives for coming to me, but I'm not the original Iron Man anymore, just a capitalist who has mastered some kind of enhancement technology. It's reasonable for them to want the technology, but they probably wouldn't ask for it so directly.

"I think I've already made my stance clear to Nick Fury. I've conceded a step and can sell it to you. In addition, I will no longer pursue the matter of your previous attempt to hack into Umbrella and steal T-virus research data."

"Mr. Stark, S.H.I.E.L.D. has a lot of resources, not just funds. We can cooperate in many ways." As long as there's a conversation, Coulson can ramble on for ages. While talking, Coulson is also looking around Tony's office, constantly gathering intelligence.

As Tony listened to Coulson's words, he suddenly remembered that he did have some things that S.H.I.E.L.D. could do.

"I happen to have something you can ask me about. Do you know Ivan Vanke?"
