Chapter 27

Is it okay to use a beautiful knife?

"Who is it?" Rod asked curiously, while thinking to himself, there are no beautiful female celebrities or anything like that being detained by the US military stationed here. Could it be some beautiful female reporter, or perhaps just a beautiful woman from over there?

It's no wonder Rhodes thought that way, after all, that's Tony's reputation.

"A CIA black agent, I hired him to do some work in the Middle East, I don't know how he got caught by the US military."

"A CIA black agent." Rhode recalled the information that had recently come back from the Middle East and quickly found the relevant content. He had seen this intelligence before, but thought it was just the Stark Corporation's doing. He didn't expect it to be Tony's personal doing.

"You mean Eric? That guy is no ordinary person. I heard about him when I was a corporal in the Air Force. Is he working for you now?" Rod asked curiously.

"It's not really a job, just a temporary employment," Tony explained.

"So the recent events near Gemila were your doing. The Ten Rings Gang has been completely wiped out this time. I think they must be regretting kidnapping you."

"What's going on?" Tony really didn't know about this. The last time Happy reported on Eric's work, it was just that an agreement had been reached with the Kerson tribe to ensure that other tribes would no longer harass Gmira.

It seems I have to bail Eric out, since he's already done his job.

Rhodes explained, "At the place where Eric was captured, a large number of body fragments of high-ranking Ten Rings gang members were found. With these high-ranking members dead, the soldiers below them were all incorporated into local armed forces. The Ten Rings gang in the Middle East has become history."

"All body parts? How did Eric get caught?" It sounds like a huge victory, so how did he still get caught?

"Intelligence indicates that Eric said nothing and refused to answer any questions, only emphasizing that he was an employee of Stark Industries. He was found by detecting the missile launch at the Stark warehouse and was found in the bombed area. He looked like he had been hit by a missile, covered in wounds."

"He won't say anything? Fine, can you get him out of here? Send him to me, I'll ask him myself." Tony was even more curious. To seriously injure Eric, he must be at least a protagonist's level.

"Okay, it's not too difficult. Actually, if he were willing to say something, we wouldn't make things too hard for him because of the CIA. It's just that he hasn't confessed anything, and no one has come to take him away, which is why he's been locked up here. It won't be difficult for you to take him away."

"Okay, I'll treat you next time. Like that flight attendant type again?"

After making his sarcastic remark, Tony hung up the phone immediately, giving Rhodes no chance to retaliate.

Rod was very efficient; he informed Tony the next day that Eric had boarded a plane back to the United States.

It's the same military airport, but Eric's is much less impressive. Only Tony, who was bored, asked Happy to drive him to the airport for a look around.

Watching Eric limp off the plane with crutches, Tony thought of his own experience when he first returned and felt a surge of joy; at least he had walked down the plane himself.

Eric was not only physically unwell, but also mentally unwell. He was listless and his eyes were very dim. He was completely different from the spirited man he had been when they last met. He looked like an old wolf whose spine had been pulled out.

Tony felt too embarrassed to criticize Eric, who was working for him and yet he mocked him for doing such a poor job. He'd really be a capitalist who wanted to be hanged. There were plenty of streetlights around here.

"Let's get in the car first." Tony finally decided to get in the car first, at least he wouldn't be able to see his cane, and he could mock him later.

Happy was in charge of driving, and the luxurious but empty car only had Tony and Eric inside, making the scene a little lonely for a moment.

Tony reminisced about the atmosphere in this car last time—the bright lights and the fact that there were no other men besides him; the situation wasn't awkward at all back then.

Finally, Tony couldn't stand it anymore. Staring at a man like that was pointless, so he asked.

"What happened? By the way, where are your teammates?"

Although they had never met, Happy was very responsible. He coordinated Stark Industries' planes to send Eric's team to the Middle East and even reported back to Tony. There were about ten people in the team.

Hearing Tony's question, Eric's face darkened even more, and he said through gritted teeth, "They're all dead. They were killed by one person."

These words piqued Tony's curiosity. After all, death is normal, but being killed by one person is quite interesting. There haven't been any reports of aliens being exposed, or of Winter Soldier or Captain America coming back to life. They are all just mortals. It is indeed rare for one person to wipe out a whole armed action team.

Could it be that Eric actually saw that villain who looks just like Tony Leung?

"What exactly happened?" Tony asked curiously, though he pretended to be serious, since Eric was clearly in a bad mood.

Eric looked at Tony's serious expression and asked, "Did you know we would meet him?"

"What about him?" Tony continued to feign ignorance. Although he had some suspicions, he really didn't expect this outcome when he assigned the mission.

Even though this villain didn't appear in Iron Man 1, Tony regretfully realized that he still couldn't remember the villain's name, only that his son was Shang-Chi.

Eric looked at Tony's expression, unable to discern anything hidden, and continued, "Then why did he ask me to pass on a message to the person behind me?"

Upon hearing the message, Tony finally couldn't contain his curiosity. He kept saying he was delivering a message, but what exactly was it?

"He told me to tell the people behind me that this matter ends here, and not to try to challenge his bottom line or bother him anymore."

Eric looked at Tony, who had a question mark on his face after hearing this, and it seemed that Tony really didn't know.

"Who exactly is he?" Eric wondered, whether he was asking Tony or talking to himself.

Although Tony roughly knew the answer, the story's logic was still somewhat flawed, so he asked Eric.

"Tell me everything from the beginning how this happened. Also, didn't you say the Ten Rings Gang is gone? Just talk about the Ten Rings Gang."

Seeing Tony's serious expression, Eric guessed that Tony might have thought of something, so he cooperated and began to explain. At first, he relied on various intelligence to clean up the Ten Rings Gang's influence. Later, he received news that the Ten Rings Gang was holding a meeting. He originally wanted to wipe out the high-ranking members in one go and complete the mission, but he did not expect that the mission would be completed in this way.

"You mean the guy in the white suit, carrying a few rings, holding off grenades, then missiles, and killing you all, leaving only you to deliver the message?"

Eric nodded in agreement with Tony's statement.

Tony thought for a moment and realized that he couldn't withstand missiles. His telekinetic shield could barely hold off one or two grenades, but it might not be able to protect against more than that, not to mention he also had to protect others.

Sigh, it's a long and arduous journey. I still have to open treasure chests. Maybe I should go out and scan the map. But I've already toured Stark Industries, except for the women's restroom, and I still haven't found any treasure chests.

Have you run out of free resources? Time to spend some real money? But then give me a link to pay, okay? Can I just buy some US dollars?
