Chapter 85

Harvest

In contrast to the infighting and power struggles within S.H.I.E.L.D., things were peaceful and harmonious on Umbrella's side.

Under Tony Stark's wise leadership, the reconstruction of the research lab was put on the agenda. The company decided to issue bonuses to the researchers affected by the incident, as well as to the T03 project personnel and special security personnel who played an important role in the intrusion. In addition, the salaries of all personnel were adjusted.

The above notification was conveyed on behalf of the company's CEO, Mr. Wesker. We thank our generous boss, Mr. Tony Stark.

Tony was not yet aware that Wesker was not trying to win him over, but rather tinkering with the captured stealth fighter.

"Jarvis, how's the check going?" Tony asked the mobile computer connected to the fighter jet. The fighter jet's main control system only had communication signals to the outside world, and Jarvis could only connect to the main control system physically.

"Basic data of the Quinjet has been acquired. The communication system is being processed. It is expected to connect to the Jarvis network in ten minutes and be remotely controlled."

"Tell me about its functions; wasn't it just invisible a moment ago?"

After learning from Rumlow that wild stealth fighters had sprung up on his company's vacant lot, Tony felt like he'd been given a pillow when he was sleepy. He had just complained about not having a super aircraft to carry around, and S.H.I.E.L.D., no, Hydra, had delivered one. It was worth it for him to send them a super soldier.

"The Quinjet A is a multi-role stealth fighter of S.H.I.E.L.D., with a top speed of Mach 2.2 (approximately 2700 kilometers per hour). It supports vertical takeoff and landing and optical stealth. Its interior space can accommodate the bar on your private jet. In addition, it can carry missiles and has the range to support intercontinental cruise."

"That's fine. Arrange for someone to move my bar here, and also transfer all the flight attendants. My private jet can retire now."

After listening for a while, Tony only remembered that they could move the bar over.

"Sir, I suggest that the Quinjet be handed over to Stark Industries' weapons development department for modification. There are some physical hardware components in the fighter that cannot be modified, which are suspected to be backdoor programs left by S.H.I.E.L.D."

Jarvis's words reminded Tony that he needed to clear the tracking device from the fighter jet first, lest the S.H.I.E.L.D. cleanup team show up and take the Quinjet away while he was flying it.

"Yes, let the weapons development department study it carefully, try to master the technology, and develop a stealth fighter. Oh, and change its appearance, give it a name, let's call it the Stark!"

"No problem, boss." After Jarvis finished speaking, the main control system was also modified, the display screen on the console restarted, and the original S.H.I.E.L.D. desktop was replaced with the Stark logo.

"Shall we fly to Stark Industries' weapons development department now?" Jarvis asked.

Tony thought for a moment and figured the work here was basically done. He could leave the rest to Wesker. Security needed to be upgraded again, and he'd let the Red Queen handle that.

With Rumlow going back to report to Hydra, and according to his own script, Hydra wouldn't be targeting Umbrella again in the short term, as the T-virus in Rumlow's body would be sufficient for their research.

Furthermore, it can replace the original virus samples in their hands, so that the super soldiers produced by Hydra in the future will also be based on their own T-virus gene samples and will be subject to the gene control of their own overlord core, bringing them one step closer to the goal of making all the superheroes/supervillains on Earth their underlings.

"Go ahead, I'll sit down too and experience the speed of the Quinjet."

With Tony's order, Jarvis steered the Quinjet vertically into the air and flew toward Stark Industries' weapons development department.

Jarvis had contacted the head of the research and development department in advance. The Quinjet was parked in the parking lot that had been cleared in advance, and the head of the weapons research and development department had already come to greet him.

"Boss, welcome to the inspection." The supervisor greeted him warmly. This behavior didn't seem abrupt, since Tony often came to the weapons research and development department and had a very good relationship with the supervisor there.

"How have you been lately? I heard from Pepper that the R&D department has made a lot of progress and improved many weapons. It seems that everyone has been working hard even while I was away."

The weapons development department has indeed made good progress recently, but this wasn't Pepper's statement. Jarvis reported it to Tony on the way, since he was coming to inspect the work and needed to prepare in advance.

"It's all thanks to the foundation laid by the boss when he was here. Now we're just following your original plan step by step, focusing on intelligent missile guidance. The plan is to put the Jericho missile on a satellite and create a space-based weapon version."

"Not bad." Tony was telling the truth. Although Stark's satellites could no longer be equipped with Hulkbuster armor, having enough missiles was still a good thing.

"I brought a stealth fighter with me. Let the technicians take it apart and study its technical principles. I reckon it has a lot of advanced technology inside. I also have an energy gun, but its energy device seems to be out of power. Let's take it apart as well."

The Quinjet was invisible when it landed, and its fuselage only became visible after it touched down. This had already attracted the supervisor's attention. Now that he heard that it could be disassembled and its principles studied, the supervisor quickly agreed.

"No problem, I'll arrange for someone to do it right away. I'll also have the researchers check the energy aspects. By the way, boss, would you like to meet the new chief scientific advisor?"

"By the way, who is the new chief scientific advisor? I heard from Pepper that he is very capable. He shouldn't be someone from the company before, right?"

After all, Tony, who possesses all of Stark's memories, is still very clear about the original personnel in the R&D department. There was no genius among the original R&D personnel who could take on the main responsibility on their own.

"He's not a company employee. The chief scientific advisor is named Otto, a nuclear physicist who recently transitioned to weapons development, so he wasn't well-known in the industry before."

"Nuclear physicist? Someone who studies physics, that's a good fit for his major." Tony didn't think much of it; he'd never heard that name in a Marvel movie.

"It's a perfect match. He has a very comprehensive grasp of theoretical knowledge, and he leads the research on most of the cutting-edge technologies. The invisibility cloak that you had someone bring over last time can already be replicated. Now we are trying to further optimize it so that the invisibility cloak can be mass-produced and commercialized."

"That sounds pretty good. Let him handle this stealth fighter too. Clean up all the S.H.I.E.L.D. stuff on it, study it thoroughly, and then modify it for me, just like my private jet."

"You want a private jet style? Do you want to install a bed? There wasn't enough space last time, but this time I think we can install a small presidential suite."

"Good, you can arrange it as you see fit." No wonder the supervisor is a supervisor; he understands Tony's thoughts very well.

"Okay, boss. By the way, would you like to see the current weapons research and development department? I'll have Dr. Otto come see you. He's over at the large arc reactor next door; he'll be here in a bit."

At this moment, Jarvis suddenly reminded him: "Sir, Eric called and said that Banner's trail has been spotted at the border. Banner is expected to head to Culver University soon, and General Ross has already gone to Culver University to arrange the operation."

"Well, it seems I won't be able to see the chief scientific advisor today. Maybe next time. Please pass on my message that I think highly of him."

"Yes, sir, I think Dr. Otto will be very pleased to hear your recognition of him." The supervisor quickly thanked Otto on behalf of those who hadn't gotten a chance to play.
