Chapter 66
Hulk
Hulk, who was knocked away, was also stunned. This is not scientific. When have I ever been knocked away?
While Hulk was stunned, Eric was also rubbing his shoulder. Damn it, that last blow must have cracked his bone. However, Eric could clearly feel the tingling sensation at the crack, and the bone was healing rapidly.
This slight pain only excited Eric more.
Eric and Hulk were stunned, but the rest of the team were not; they had already begun to act according to the plan they had devised after seeing the large object on the surveillance footage.
These team members have some experience dealing with large creatures, since the T0 test site needs people to clean them up from time to time.
Several team members climbed to a high place, and then, instead of using traditional firearms, they realized from the surveillance footage that this monster was as powerful as, or even more powerful than, the Tyrant. Rockets had no effect, so the team got out of the vehicle and didn't take rifles, but instead took some special equipment.
Several stun guns fired simultaneously, hitting Hulk precisely. Then, the power was applied, and the strong voltage caused sparks to fly in the wires, illuminating the entire factory. Many soldiers who were too close felt their hair stand on end and their bodies go numb.
But when the voltage that could electrify an elephant was applied to the Hulk, all that was produced was an angry roar. The enormous roar, like a volcanic eruption mixed with thunder, echoed in his ears, and the huge vibration made Bronsky's heart stop for a moment.
The people in the surveillance vehicle in the distance were also quite shaken, especially those who were wearing headphones to watch the monitor. They threw their headphones away, and even then, their heads were still buzzing from the shock.
Tony, seemingly unfazed, looked at the more energetic Hulk and remarked, "Looks like the electric shocks have made him even more excited. Has this enhancement given him some kind of peculiar hobby?"
Ross ignored Tony's complaints and tried to pick up the walkie-talkie to give instructions, but then realized that his entire squad was already lying on the ground and that Umbrella's action team's walkie-talkie wasn't with him.
Realizing this, Ross ran to Tony's side and snatched the walkie-talkie from Tony's hand.
"Don't underestimate him. This voltage won't work on him. Find a way to trap him. I'll bring over heavy weapons."
At this point, Ross doesn't care about international repercussions anymore; as long as he captures Hulk, everything will be fine.
After speaking to Eric, Ross didn't need Catherine to relay his message; he directly contacted the airport and ordered the armed helicopters to fly over.
Eric didn't actually hear Ross's command. Although Hulk's roar didn't cause him any physical discomfort, the shockwave still damaged his eardrums, and his ears were still bleeding. However, the recovery had begun, and he would be fine soon, without affecting his combat ability.
Seeing that the electric shocks were ineffective, the action team simply threw away the stun gun and took out a rope gun.
The operatives in different positions fired rope guns at Hulk. After being electrocuted, Hulk also became more intelligent and realized that being hit would be uncomfortable, unlike bullets, which only made him feel a little itchy and annoyed.
Hulk dodged the flying rope nets and charged toward the gun-wielding team members. However, due to the large number of rope guns, although he dodged many, he was still bound by the ropes layer by layer, and was only a hand's distance away from the targeted team member.
With all the team members working together, they successfully subdued Hulk.
Because the team members were positioned at varying heights, and all of this was done in advance with a simple plan, they managed to keep Hulk suspended in mid-air.
"Good!" Ross shouted excitedly as he looked at Hulk hanging in mid-air, and then gave the order.
"Tie him up, the helicopter will be here soon to take him back."
Eric wasn't as optimistic as Ross. As he pulled on the rope, Eric noticed that Hulk's strength was gradually increasing. At first, he could hold on easily, but now Hulk was slowly pulling everyone towards the center.
"Here you go, hold on tight." Eric glanced around and, seeing no one else, handed the rope to Bronsky beside him.
Bronsky had just grabbed the rope when he almost lost his footing and was nearly pulled down.
Eric quickly tugged again, while instructing the team members pulling the ropes on either side, "Pull harder, I'll go and quiet this big guy down."
The members of the left and right action teams gritted their teeth and exerted more force. Bronsky also tried his best, but his feet still slipped, and he could only barely hold on.
Eric quickly climbed up a shelf to a high place, then jumped onto Hulk in mid-air and punched him hard on the head.
Hey, hey, hey.
Eric felt like his finger bones were cracking, but the effect was excellent; Hulk stopped struggling.
Hulk stopped struggling and instead glared angrily at Eric, who was lying on top of him.
Eric looked into Hulk's bright green eyes and immediately sensed danger. He kicked Hulk on the head and jumped away.
"Roar!" Hulk roared angrily, then twisted his body in mid-air, flinging all the ropes away, sending the team members who hadn't had time to let go flying everywhere.
Bronsky was very lucky; he was not strong enough to hold on tightly and failed to take off. He watched helplessly as his team members crashed into pillars and walls, resulting in all sorts of soldiers with broken bones and folded bodies.
Eric ran fast and hid at a distance, reporting back to Tony:
"Boss, this monster is too powerful. Let TO handle it."
Before Tony could answer, Ross said, "Hold him off, the attack helicopters are here."
Hold him back? Eric glanced at the action team members lying around. What was the point of holding him back? If they showed up again, he'd probably be smashed into mincemeat.
Tony then spoke up.
"Let's try using smoke grenades or something to delay them a little. T0 is too late. Let's look at the attack helicopters."
Tony's suggestion was fairly reasonable and feasible; at least it reduced the chances of him being smashed to pieces. However, Eric didn't believe that the attack helicopter could take down this monster.
A smoke grenade was thrown from Eric's hiding place, successfully attracting Hulk's attention. Still enraged, Hulk broke through the smoke and chased after Eric's hiding place.
What followed was a cat-and-mouse game, or rather, an elephant chasing a mouse. Hulk smashed and destroyed everything in his path, relentlessly pursuing Eric. Eric hadn't been this disheveled in a long time, but it was a good thing, as it distracted Hulk from the temporarily incapacitated soldiers.
After holding out for a while, the armed helicopter arrived, and heavy machine guns began strafing Hulk, while missiles were also aimed at him.
The heavy machine gun was effective, successfully injuring Hulk, who then shifted his focus to shooting down the plane.
Then Hulk dismantled the metal components beside him and threw them out. The attack helicopter quickly pulled up, but it was too late. The attack helicopter exploded in the air like fireworks.
With the attack helicopter gone, Hulk temporarily lost his target. After calming down a bit, Banner's subconscious kicked in, and he began to prepare to escape.
