Chapter 130

Zola and Ivan Vanko

Chapter 130 Zola and Ivan Vanko

Before the American power company cut off the power to S.H.I.E.L.D., Zola came up with a relatively mature idea.

Zola no longer planned to wait for Hammer Industries to produce the finished product before stealing the technical data, and began to try to communicate directly with Ivan Vanko.

At the same time, report to Pierce, or in other words, have Pierce stop Coulson to buy more time.

After making the decision, Zola first contacted Pierce. Unlike Jarvis, who could access Tony's electronic devices at any time, Zola had to call and get permission to contact Pierce.

Fortunately, Pierce was free today and answered the phone quickly: "Zola, what's wrong? Is there a problem with Project Insight?"

"The Insight Project is progressing very smoothly; there are other matters to report."

"What's up? Is there any progress on the T-virus replication project?" As Pierce said this, the person next to him leaned closer to try and hear what was going on on the phone.

"No, it's Agent Coulson from S.H.I.E.L.D. investigating a Russian. I've reviewed the Russian's file, and I think we need this person's technology."

Upon hearing that it had nothing to do with the T-virus, the people next to Pierce immediately lost interest and even got up to leave.

Pierce didn't try to stop him, since matters concerning S.H.I.E.L.D. were within his purview and he wouldn't allow others to interfere.

"What technology?" Pierce pressed.

Soon, information about the miniature arc reactor (mainly video screenshots) and some technical speculations were transmitted to Pierce's phone.

Pierce glanced at it but couldn't immediately see its use, so he asked, "What's the value of this? Can it be used to make weapons? Is it more useful than the energy of the Tesseract?"

Zola was helpless against Pierce's technological ignorance, but that was also his purpose. After all, if Pierce really figured things out, it would be difficult for him to take advantage of the situation.

"In terms of destructive power, it is not as powerful as the Cosmic Cube, but it is controllable and can be replicated. It can be used as a backup energy source for the Vision Carrier, or it can be used to make secondary energy weapons."

"That looks interesting." Pierce immediately perked up at the mention of Project Insight, and then asked, "What's your plan?"

"Give me command of Rumlow's special operations team. If necessary, I can have Rumlow take Ivan Vanko away directly."

"Okay, but Coulson is Nick Fury's man, and I don't want Nick Fury to suspect me," Pierce cautioned. It's not the time for Hydra to take center stage yet; the SHIELD facade is still needed. It was for this reason that Pierce stepped down as director of SHIELD. He was afraid that if he stayed too long, he would turn SHIELD into a Hydra organization, and then SHIELD would be the one being regulated, just like Hydra would be the one being regulated.

"No problem, I'll get everything sorted out before Coulson finishes his investigation, and I won't leak any information." Zola said.

He answered confidently, but his computer was running at high speed, indicating that he had other plans on it.

Pierce didn't care what Zola planned to do. He gave Rumlow an order to cooperate with Zola's operation and then stopped caring. As the Secretary-General of the World Security Council, the superior organization of S.H.I.E.L.D., he still had a lot of work to do. For example, the Hydra Council members had just asked him to find a way to unite with other countries to put pressure on Umbrella regarding the sale of the T-virus enhancement drug.

After receiving authorization from Pierce, Zola immediately began his operation, sending Rumlow and the rapid reaction special forces to New York to stand by, while simultaneously hacking into Hammer Industries' systems.

Prior to this, Zola had been monitoring Hammer Industries, since in his view Hammer Industries' firewall was practically made of paper. The only concern was that the inbound and outbound data flow would be too large, causing the firewall to crash.

Although Hammer Industries' technology is not strong, Ivan Vanko still has the strength. Zola can only obtain some external data and hand over some mecha design materials to the factory for production. Although they are somewhat novel, Zola can also make them himself with some time. However, the core energy technology is in a few computers controlled by Ivan Vanko and cannot be copied.

However, Zola's goal today wasn't to hack in, but rather to have a chat with Ivan Vanko.

Ivan Vanko was assembling a palladium core when a red warning suddenly appeared on the Russian-language computer screen. Reluctantly, Ivan carefully placed the palladium core on the workbench, then slid his chair in front of the computer, muttering, "Here we go again. This time I'm going to find out who you are!"

Since taking over the studio, Ivan has experienced more than one such cyberattack. Ivan originally intended to delegate these miscellaneous tasks to Hammerg.

The professional programmers were tasked with handling it, but after looking at Hammer Industries' network system, Ivan immediately abandoned the idea and separated his studio to create a complete system on his own.

Within his own system, although the other party's network technology was excellent, he couldn't gain any advantage or obtain any information. It was as if the other party never slept, as they could launch attacks from morning till night, which greatly annoyed Ivan.

As for physically disconnecting from the network, Ivan had considered it, but he also needed to connect to Hammer Industries' network to schedule tasks. As long as data security could be guaranteed, he would use it this way for now, and then start updating the entire Hammer Industries network system after the mech research was completed.

But before Ivan could even retaliate today, he was surprised to find that the other party wasn't trying to steal data; instead, they sent him some messages.

"Hello, Ivan Vanko, my name is Zola, we can talk."

Looking at the text on the screen, Ivan tried typing: "What do you want to talk about?"

"There are many things—Arc Reactor technology, Tony Stark, Justin Hammer's plans—I think there's something for everyone."

Ivan glanced at the running tracking software and casually replied, "Tell me about it, and see if I'm interested."

"I think we can work together very well," Zola typed confidently.

"It's a pleasure working with you, but I need to get my revenge on Tony Stark first, right here at that damn Justin's arms expo!" Clearly, some of the information Zola revealed had infuriated Ivan.

"No problem, I understand your feelings. That's just how Americans are, they're untrustworthy and shameless!" It was clear that Zola also had a lot of opinions about the Americans.

"Very good. It seems I need to hurry up and build this prototype first before Justin can fully launch the production line." After Ivan finished speaking, he left the computer and continued assembling the reactor core.

At this moment, Coulson had just finished his report and, with Nick Fury's permission, went to New York to begin investigating Ivan Vanko's whereabouts.
