Chapter 52

Showcase

The car drove directly into the building that looked like a factory. Inside, the huge space was filled with various armed vehicles.

Tony saw many Stark Industries products, including several newly mass-produced sonic oscillators. Tony remembered these; they were on the shipping documents that Pepper had him sign.

But this should be destined for US troops stationed abroad, so how did it end up in Ross's territory? Is this some kind of cross-border shipment?

The car didn't stop, it continued driving in, passing rows of weapons and equipment, and then drove directly onto a huge platform.

After the car came to a stop, Ross didn't get out. He nodded to the soldier standing guard, who then pressed an operation button.

As the machinery began to operate, the entire platform started to descend. After descending about twenty or thirty meters, the true face of the military base was revealed to Tony.

A huge experimental site unfolded before Tony, divided into sections where soldiers were training, researchers were going in and out of experimental cabins, and a group of people were constantly operating computers.

"A really lively place." Tony rarely exclaimed, "Secret bases are so cool." It made Tony itch to get one too.

Ross was also very satisfied with his base, explaining, "Since the accident at the Culver University lab, I moved the lab here. No matter what happens, no one can escape."

There's no escaping it; they'll all be buried alive here.

Thinking about it this way, Tony suddenly lost interest in the underground secret base. Unless he first acquired the pangolin's abilities, the thought of being buried alive probably wouldn't be pleasant.

After the elevator platform landed, Ross finally got out of the car and led Tony deeper into the building, soon arriving at a sealed laboratory.

After undergoing multiple rounds of disinfection, the two people, wearing oxygen masks, finally entered the laboratory.

Researchers were still working in the laboratory, processing the corpses on the operating table, while nearby, glass capsules held living zombies.

Ross grumbled, watching the researchers coming and going, "Hmph, what are they still researching? The samples are already expired."

It is clear that they also discovered that the T-virus had self-destructed and is probably now just genetic fragments, making it impossible to study anything about it.

Tony understood the researchers; after all, they were stronger than him, a time traveler, and he couldn't blame them—Hydra's technology was simply too advanced.

Otherwise, military researchers would definitely be more capable than those temporarily recruited, who might be unable to find jobs.

It's just that their own researchers have a cheat code; they have another virus sample. If they had a sample, they definitely could do it too.

It can't be that the title of "protective umbrella" gives you an advantage.

"The other side is too powerful. My researchers only have some technical reserves, which is why they can crack the gene self-destruct program to a certain extent."

"No results are no results, no excuses." Ross was very firm and results-oriented, no wonder he had poor interpersonal relationships.

Tony had no interest in debating these things with Ross and went straight to his own problem.

"General, how much funding do you have for this biological enhancement program, or what can you offer me?"

"What do you want? Cross's orders, Marbury's land, isn't that enough?" Cross pointed out that everything before was his doing.

"Those can only be considered as a deposit. Umbrella's research requires more funding, and the actual finished product also needs a clearly calculated price."

"Hmph, businessman." Ross snorted, but then his tone suddenly changed, and he said with great pleasure:

"But I like businessmen, at least they put their prices down. Let me see your skills; the boxes you brought can't be gifts, can they?"

"I need a big place, big enough to run at least a kilometer."

"Perfect timing, I have this place." Ross lost interest in watching these researchers pretending to work hard; they were useless and a waste of his money. Banner was much better; he could get a lot done with so little money, though the work was too big.

Upon leaving the lab, Tony discovered that the boxes had also been unloaded, and the military personnel, using forklifts, had no idea where to put them.

Eric and the others kept a close watch on the boxes to prevent anyone from opening them carelessly. After all, as the packers, they knew what kind of monsters were inside.

"This way." Ross led the way, and soon they arrived at the end of the underground space. After Ross swiped his ID card, the wall slowly opened, revealing the space inside.

A huge space resembling a gladiatorial arena, surrounded by thick explosion-proof glass, isolating the inside from the outside.

Various weapons were also installed around the arena, including the vibrator we had seen before, as if it were a testing ground specially prepared for some big green guy.

Looking at the empty testing ground, Ross couldn't help but sigh, "This is the first time it's been used since it was built."

Tony didn't respond, but instead instructed the female adjutant who was always by Ross's side, "Please have someone put these boxes inside."

The boxes were quickly placed in their positions, and Tony clapped his hands to attract Ross's attention before beginning his introduction.

"To better showcase Umbrella's bio-enhancement technology, this demonstration uses disposable bio-consumables. What we are showing now is the T1 virus Phase I enhancement technology, which is already ready for mass production."

After the introduction, Tony tapped his watch, and a box in the testing ground began to change, opening automatically and releasing cold air for freezing.

Once the cold air dissipated, three zombies appeared before everyone. The zombies were dressed in the same clothes as ordinary people, clearly indicating that the researchers at Umbrella Corporation were too lazy to change their clothes.

"This is your disposable supplies?" Ross was genuinely surprised to hear such an adjective.

"Shh, let's see the results." Tony gestured to Ross not to rush and to keep watching.

The zombie, awakened from its frozen state, immediately surveyed its surroundings and quickly spotted Tony and the others on a distant platform.

Then the three zombies suddenly burst out with astonishing speed, almost in the blink of an eye they darted to the edge of the test field, and then jumped up and slammed into the five-meter-high protective glass with a loud thud.

The sudden change startled everyone, and even the tough guy Ross's heart was pounding.

Tony continued, "This enhancement has been successfully applied to the human body. However, compared to zombies, the body's own protective mechanisms cannot function at their full potential, but the impact is not too great. The smartest thing about humans is their brains. Eric, demonstrate it."

Upon receiving the order, Eric walked to the gate through which he had just sent the box. Seeing this, the female adjutant restarted the gate on the control panel, and then closed it again after Eric went inside.

Tony walked up to the microphone and instructed Eric as he entered, "Use them to test your stamina, strength, and reaction speed. Be careful not to headshot them. Also, use them to test other biological weapons."

Eric waved his hand and gave an OK sign, indicating that he understood.

After crashing into the glass once, the three zombies continued to jump and try to break through the wall. Upon discovering Eric's entry, they immediately shifted their target and charged towards him.
