Chapter 18

Obadiah's Ambition

Zaf was a little dazed as he watched his men fall one by one, but before he could think any further, he started coughing. He didn't vomit blood, but his whole body was itchy, a deep, bone-deep itch.

Zaf started scratching, but it was no use. His whole body started to heat up, and in pain, Zaf began to roll around on the ground. Then his body visibly swelled up rapidly, like an inflating balloon.

Soon, Zaf transformed into a gigantic monster, while the Ten Rings Gang soldier who had been coughing up blood and lying on the ground stood up and turned into something resembling a zombie.

Obama, watching the video, was completely bewildered. What the hell was this? The Ten Rings Gang was making a movie?

But soon, an even more exciting scene began to unfold. Zaf, now a tyrant, had lost his mind in agony, and the rapid mutation had depleted his body's nutrients, making him desperately in need of replenishing his energy.

Zombies, which are also rich in the T-virus, are a source of high-quality protein, so the Tyrant began to crunch them down and eat them one by one like he was at a buffet.

The video turned into a bloody and violent B-movie. Although the shooting angle was poor and the equipment used was just a surveillance camera at the base, its authenticity was what made it so compelling. It successfully caused Obadiah to feel extremely uncomfortable and wanted to turn it off.

But what happened next kept Obadiah watching: Tony ran out of the cave.

"Tony! What on earth is going on?" Obadiah was a little confused about what had happened. Was it a biological attack? Did Stark Industries have such a product? Or was it some kind of virus that was already present there?

The next scene shows the Tyrant attacking Tony, who keeps running away, and various weapons hitting the Tyrant but failing to harm him at all.

The Tyrant, in particular, evolved after being hit by a grenade, but unfortunately it seems to have been killed by an RPG in the end. The scene ended after the landslide, and the monitoring system was buried by mud, so we didn't get to see Tony's telekinetic power unleash at the end.

Obadiah's attention was no longer on Tony, but was completely focused on the Tyrant's actions.

"These are the real weapons. Jericho missiles and smart weapons are all bullshit. If I had control of these monsters, Stark Industries shouldn't be called Obama Industries."

Having dealt with the military for many years, Obadiah immediately saw the Tyrant's commercial value. As for the side effects shown in the video, such as turning people into zombies or causing them to lose their minds and act like beasts, Obadiah simply ignored them. These were just minor issues in the development of a new product, and he was confident that he could solve them.

Realizing the commercial value, Obama quickly took out his phone again and called the Ten Rings Gang.

"Where are the things? The corpses of these things?"

"The area has been bombed by missiles and needs to be excavated. It's also under US military surveillance, so it's not convenient for us to go in."

Obadiah understood that these words were just pretexts to raise the price, so he said directly, "The weapons you want will be shipped over soon, and the price will be the same as before."

"No, it's not just those things. You and I both understand that you want to study the things in the video, and we want to share our research findings."

Upon hearing this, Obadiah couldn't help but laugh out loud: "You guys? You're good at blacksmithing in your caves, but what about this bioengineering? Do you even understand it?"

"We don't understand it, but now we have the stuff in our hands."

Obadiah didn't want to haggle anymore; he just wanted to get the goods first. "I can give you the finished product of my research. Bring me the materials quickly."

"No problem." The other party didn't actually have the capability to research it, so getting the finished product was enough to achieve their goal, and they quickly reached an agreement.

Obadiah was very excited after hanging up the phone, but he quickly calmed down. He realized a problem: Stark Industries no longer had a biological research department, and he didn't have the relevant resources. Although he could throw money at them, the top scholars were not easy to move, and the commotion would be too great.

"Looks like I need to contact that guy and share the spoils with them." Obadiah thought of the person who introduced him to the Ten Rings Gang, and the mysterious organization behind him.

It was a brand new day, and Happy had received news from the Black Team he had contacted. They were very willing to do the job, and the team leader even flew to Los Angeles in person, hoping to meet with Tony.

Tony was also interested in a man named Killmonger, which literally translates to "Killing Spreader," and arranged to meet him at the villa.

Happy led Killmonger to the villa, where Jarvis, who already knew Tony's plan, opened the door.

Tony sat on the sofa, looking at the young black man following behind Happy. The man wasn't very old, but his eyes were very cold, as if he had seen life and death many times.

Putting everything else aside, this guy has probably killed quite a few people. As soon as he came in, he scanned the room, showing great vigilance.

Happy spoke first, introducing, "Boss, this is Eric, a former Marine." The two had exchanged some words on the way and knew a little about each other.

But before Happy could finish his introduction, Tony waved his hand to stop him from continuing, and instead said:

"Jarvis, introduce our new friend."

Following Tony's instructions, Jarvis's voice rang out: "Yes, sir. Here is the information I found: Eric Stevens, date of birth: June 13, 1984, Oakland, California, USA, African American."

His father, John Stevens, was shot and killed by police in 1992 for his involvement in an illegal arms deal.

After his father's death, he entered a welfare institution in Oakland. He was released from guardianship at the age of 16. He had a minor theft record during his teens, dropped out of West Oakland High School, later obtained a GED equivalent degree, graduated from MIT, majoring in weapons systems design and geopolitical analysis. He served in the U.S. Navy SEAL Team Six, officially retired with honors, but internally noted that he was forced to leave active service due to failing a psychological assessment.

However, he actually transferred to the JSOC Ghost Team (CIA) to carry out assassination and regime change missions, participating in numerous black operations overseas, responsible for infiltration behind enemy lines and target elimination, primarily in the Middle East and war-torn regions of Africa.

Eric's expression fluctuated at first as he listened to Jarvis's report, but he quickly regained his composure. After all, Tony Stark was known as a genius, and it was normal for him to have some high-tech gadgets and some black files.

However, as Tony listened, his expression changed, and he couldn't help but tap on the screen next to him. A characteristic of Tony's mansion was that screens were everywhere, making it convenient for Jarvis to display information.

Tony carefully examined the documents Jarvis had found until he came across a photo of Eric shirtless, his body covered in tiny dots.

I finally remember who this guy is: Eric, the Wakanda royal who was separated from his family in the Black Panther movie. He's known as the "Golden Leopard" by netizens. Putting aside racial prejudice, this guy is a tough one.

Oh right, Tony remembered that in the "what if" short film he'd seen, this guy had killed him before.

Damn it, I just wanted someone to do illegal work, how did I end up with him?

However, this guy is indeed capable, and he has no problem doing this job; it's a good match for his major.
