Chapter 36

Security Part 1

Obadiah started running frantically toward the experimental center area, finding the various laboratories under his feet in a mess along the way. The ground was covered with a gelatinous slime, and the pungent smell could not be blocked even by gas masks.

But Obadiah was no longer in the mood to complain about the smell and led a group of bodyguards to the central area.

The situation in the central area was also bad; headless corpses were everywhere, and computers that had been running all the time were now displaying blue screens.

Obadiah's face turned extremely ugly. They hadn't left him anything. He had really been scammed. Those damned guys.

Clinging to his last glimmer of hope, Obadiah entered the monitoring room. The monitors were still running, broadcasting the horrific scene in the laboratory. The objects, turned into a gel-like state by the highly corrosive liquid, were no longer recognizable as human; they looked more like slimes or mud monsters mixed with various impurities.

Obadiah suddenly noticed that although Zola's image was not on the big screen, it was still lit up and displaying two files.

The file names are:

"The Concept of Weather Weapons and H Virus Variant 6"

H Virus Serum and Enhancers

The document concluded by including a photograph, seemingly in case Obama misread the contents of the document and the box in the middle of the monitoring room: a missile and a box containing serum.

After reviewing the files, Obadiah's mind raced, and he came up with a new idea—a plan to turn the tide.

He first picked up the case of serum, preparing to call the bodyguard outside the door, while gritting his teeth and muttering under his breath:

"Tony, you forced me into this."

---------------

Meanwhile, Tony was also in the lab. He had originally planned to go to the company for a board meeting to see how furious Obadiah would be after hearing the news.

Now, half the problem with Obadiah has been solved: he was removed from his position, and a contract was used to force him to pledge his shares to himself.

We're not worried about him finding a way to get the money to release the mortgage, because Stark's legal department will start working on it. We won't mention his crime of funding terrorists, which is a matter for federal prosecutors, but his actions will inevitably affect Stark's interests, so we can naturally file a lawsuit to demand compensation.

There are also frozen accounts. The cash-strapped Black Egg Bureau Chief certainly won't let them go easily; he'll at least deduct them for a year or two. He has that kind of authority.

If Obadiah were to suddenly die amidst all this chaos, everything would be resolved. However, it would be best to find out what the organization behind the scenes is before helping Obadiah die. It's not comfortable to always be on someone's mind.

But just as Jarvis was about to set off in the morning, he received a message from Wesker of Umbrella Corporation.

"Sir, Wesker said the animal trials have been successful; the T-12 consistently enhances the animals' abilities without showing any signs of genetic damage. Would you like to take a look?"

"So much progress already." Tony was overjoyed to hear the news. It seems that Marvel's advanced technology isn't just for the main characters; even casual NPCs can master it.

"Let's go check out Umbrella then." After Tony finished speaking, Jarvis changed the navigation and headed towards Umbrella.

As usual, as soon as Tony arrived at Umbrella, he found Wesker already waiting at the door, very attentive in opening the car door for Tony.

"Welcome, boss," Wesker greeted Tony warmly, while two rows of security personnel in black suits stood by, applauding Tony in response.

It looks like all that's missing is a banner. Did Wesker study abroad?

However, all the greeters were men, perhaps because the training center was too formal. But Tony didn't come to the company for this kind of work, so he went straight to the point and asked.

"Where are the successful test subjects? Take me to see them."

Wesker could tell that Tony only cared about the experimental results, so he stopped talking and led the way.

Upon entering the experimental area, Wesker explained, "The entire company uses separate air circulation systems for different areas to prevent the spread of any potential gases, and we also provide sufficient oxygen masks to prevent experimental accidents."

After all, Tony had specifically warned about the possibility of airborne transmission at the beginning. Regardless of whether it was true or not, the boss had said it, so there had to be a response. The boss looked at not only the results but also the attitude. After all, who doesn't like subordinates who can understand and carry out his wishes?

Sure enough, Tony nodded in satisfaction upon hearing Wesker's words; who wouldn't want to be a tyrant?

Shortly after entering the experimental area, we saw an observation chamber where a huge white mouse was running on a hamster wheel.

The hamster wheel spins incredibly fast, with a speed display showing 20 km/h next to it.

Tony frowned and said, "That's not very fast either."

Wesker nodded quickly, agreeing with Tony: "You're right, the current speed is still a bit slow."

As he spoke, he selected one of the researchers, someone who showed displeasure upon hearing Tony's words.

"Please introduce him to Mr. Stark."

Just as Wesker had predicted, the researchers immediately objected to Tony's words.

"Mr. Stark, you may not know this, but for this breed of laboratory hamster, their maximum speed when escaping is only 10 to 13 km/h, and their normal speed is only between 1 and 2 km/h. But now, just running around casually, they have far exceeded their previous limits."

At this point, the researcher proudly stated, "Most importantly, the mice's appearance and temperament remained unchanged. If this were perfectly replicated on a human body, it would result in perfect human enhancement."

Upon hearing this, Tony realized that his standards were too high, or rather, he had no concept of speed. He only realized this after hearing the researcher's words.

"Well done, Wesker, give everyone a bonus."

"Yes, sir." Wesker cleverly made Tony realize the value of the experiment, which also proved his own worth.

"Is the next step to study its effects on humans?" Tony asked curiously.

Wesker began his explanation: "For now, we're mainly conducting animal experiments to ensure that the effects are stable and consistent across different animals."

"Well, the results from these animal experiments are enough for now, but it would be best to have a finished product."

Although there has been no news yet about Obama being removed from the board, it is estimated that it will soon trigger a chain reaction, causing the stock price to fluctuate again. At that time, a strong boost will be needed to revitalize the stock price.

Now that the stimulant is in place, all that's needed is for the military to give Stark a boost.

Hearing Tony's slightly regretful tone, Wesker quickly offered suggestions: "Actually, if we conduct human experiments directly, although the physical and mental strain might be greater, the experimentation process can be accelerated."

"Go straight to human experimentation?" Tony couldn't help but imagine scenes from Resident Evil as he listened to Wesker's suggestion.

Seeing Tony hesitate, Wesker assumed it was because of funding and quickly explained, "Although the losses are significant, every single one is a valuable resource, regardless of success or failure. Like animal experiments, we might discover new variant strains, which would be very meaningful for the multi-purpose development of the T-virus."

Tony didn't pay attention to what Wesker said next, so he didn't say that money wasn't an issue. Actually, his main concern was that we were too eager to achieve results and might create a Marbury biohazard-like situation. He emphasized this in the end.

"Let's take it slow. The most important thing is to ensure the safety of the experiments and prevent any accidents. We can discuss human trials and animal trials after the results are stable."
