Chapter 44

The Military's Intent to Cooperate

"Stop! Don't move! We'll shoot if you get any closer!"

Clearly, soldiers who receive orders, regardless of their organization, only know how to carry out the orders of their superiors.

Coulson had no choice but to take a step back. When the soldiers saw that the other party had retreated to a safe distance, they put down their weapons. After all, they were an official agency and would not carry out a completely unnecessary massacre.

But Coulson frowned as he looked at the gate of Tony's villa that had been rammed open by an armored vehicle, and the door of a house that had been forcibly demolished in the distance.

Looking more closely at the armored vehicle, it looked like it had been twisted into a pretzel by some invisible force, making me feel uneasy. I had to find a way to go inside and take a look.

Eric, standing nearby, thought the same thing. However, if it were before, he would have rushed in long ago. Since it was a black market operation, as long as they weren't caught on the spot, the CIA could handle the aftermath. But now that there was a legitimate company involved, it wouldn't work that way. He had to figure out what the boss was thinking and whether it conflicted with the company's interests. Indeed, people just can't work regular jobs.

Fortunately, Coulson couldn't hold back any longer, after all, there was still Black Egg to take the blame, and he secretly gave Hawkeye a wink.

Hawkeye immediately understood. Dealing with a few soldiers was too easy. He spun the quiver on his back, quickly took out an arrow, and shot it at the soldier.

The soldiers reacted quickly, retreating to find cover and prepare for battle, but the arrows landed directly on the open ground.

The soldiers stared at each other, wondering what this meant. Was it an attack or a provocation?

Before the soldiers could figure it out, the arrows on the ground suddenly began to shoot out thin metal wires in all directions. The wires instantly connected everyone, and then the current was conducted along the wires, instantly knocking all the soldiers down.

"Let's go." Coulson didn't waste any more words and led the way into the villa, with the rest of the group following behind, all armed and on guard.

---------------

After dealing with Obadiah, Tony glanced helplessly at the mansion riddled with holes. Considering that the mansion might be blown up again in the original story, he decided to renovate it all at once this time.

"Jarvis, when you renovate the villa, you design the security system. Use some powerful weapons, stop using these non-lethal weapons, and increase the protection level."

"Yes, sir." Jarvis accepted the order and began designing blueprints in the backstage, preparing to contact Stark's own company for construction, while reminding them:

"Sir, the jammer is still working, and I cannot transmit the data I just recorded to Umbrella."

"I'll handle it." Tony walked directly to the window, reached out and grabbed the shielding truck that was still working. The truck, like kneaded clay, squeaked and crackled, bursting into a few sparks before becoming a pile of scrap metal.

"Yes, sir. I've contacted Umbrella. They're capturing zombies. Wesker sent Eric to collect these enhanced human corpses."

"Catching zombies? How big is the infection range this time?" Tony asked worriedly, watching the rain clouds gradually dissipate.

This is a really big deal. After all, he received a good education. Although he learned extravagance and debauchery very quickly, as a transmigrator who grew up under the red flag, he is still kind at heart.

Jarvis now had internet access and quickly found videos of the zombie outbreak and various other news online.

"It is estimated that the entire Marbury community has been infected, but there are no signs of it spreading outside the Marbury community yet."

"That's good news amidst misfortune, right? Jarvis, take a look at the community's personnel information and see what we can do?"

After thinking for a moment, Tony added, "We can start assembling a legal team to represent the victims in seeking compensation from Obadiah."

While I was arranging the work, I heard the sound of a helicopter outside, and then a group of heavily armed soldiers rushed in.

Upon entering, the leading sergeant looked at Obadiah lying on the ground, hesitated for a moment, and then asked Tony.

"Mr. Stark, is this Obadiah?"

"Yes." Tony nodded, understanding the other's hesitation. After all, even an acquaintance would be unrecognizable if suddenly transformed into a three-meter-tall muscular monster.

"It really worked, Mr. Stark. May I ask how strong Mr. Obadiah and the others are? Are those muscles all fake?" The sergeant curiously touched Obadiah's biceps with the barrel of his gun; they were rock hard.

"You can take a look around my house, and you'll get a general idea," Tony said, pointing to the surroundings.

"It looks pretty good," the sergeant said confidently after glancing at it.

Tony asked curiously, "Who sent you? Obadiah?"

Tony remembered what Obadiah had said: one of the purposes of today's operation was to demonstrate technology to the military.

The sergeant nodded affirmatively and said, "Mr. Obadiah invited the general to watch his latest weapons demonstration, and the general asked us to come and see the human enhancement technology. Unfortunately, we arrived a little late."

"I'm sorry to say, but I guess your general will be changing partners."

"Is that you, Mr. Stark?" the sergeant said to Tony with a smile.

"Why would you say that?" Tony asked.

The sergeant pointed to the surroundings and explained, "It's clear that Obadiah has some kind of enhancement technology, but his group of super soldiers died at Mr. Stark's hands. I think the general appreciates the winner's technology more."

"How do you know I have this kind of enhancement technology, instead of killing them with firearms?" Tony pointed to the bullets on Obadiah and the others.

The sergeant pointed to his oxygen mask and then explained, "After receiving Obadiah's invitation, we sent observers here. Unfortunately, Obadiah's intelligence was wrong. It's not just rain-borne, but airborne. And Mr. Stark, you're not wearing any protective gear. Clearly, you know more about this virus than Obadiah does."

Tony, upon hearing this, no longer objected and nodded, directly admitting, "That's right, I not only have this technology, but it's also more stable and more powerful than Obadiah's."

As he spoke, Tony casually picked up a metal ornament from the side and gently snapped it in half with both hands.

The sergeant couldn't help but laugh as he watched Tony's actions.

"I think the general would very much like to meet with you and discuss cooperation."

"Why should I cooperate with you?" Tony retorted.

"Mr. Stark, our general is very sincere, and he has many friends in the United States. There is definitely room for cooperation between us."

Tony also wanted to cooperate; his question was just to discuss the price. The other party gave him an out, so he naturally followed suit.

"Really? Then I'm looking forward to your price."

"Rest assured, our general will soon demonstrate our sincerity. May we take a few of these corpses with us?"

"Sure, but I suggest you be careful if you're going to do the experiment, as it might be contagious. Also, leave Obadiah's body with me; after all, he was my elder (I'll have to grind his ashes to dust)."

Marbury is surrounded by zombies. Although Eric is organizing the recovery, any organization with the will can surely get the samples.

Exposure to the T-virus was inevitable. As long as Umbrella's research progressed quickly enough, there was no need to ruin the newly established good communication over a few corpses.

The sergeant waved to the soldiers beside him, and immediately someone carried the two corpses out.

As the sergeant prepared to leave, Tony asked, "You still haven't told me who your general is."

"Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention, our general is Thaddeus E. Ross, a four-star general in the United States, General Ross, though he prefers to be called General Thunderbolt."
