Chapter 61
Electric Shock
After switching to his stun gun, Eric quickly moved towards Natasha.
Natasha stared at Eric's movement speed for a second, realizing it was too fast. In a straight-line race, she had no chance of escaping, so she immediately abandoned the idea of a head-on confrontation.
Turning around, Natasha ran towards the passage. Compared to the monster, she felt she had a better chance of escaping from under the soldiers' guns, so she activated her invisibility cloak again as she ran.
As she approached the security checkpoint, the security guard couldn't see the invisible Natasha, but only saw Eric, fully armed and carrying a gun, rushing towards him.
What's wrong? Are you finally going to make a move on me? I don't need calcium supplements. Boss, if you want to take calcium supplements, I know I'm calcium deficient.
However, she still had professional skills. When Natasha got close enough, she noticed something transparent rushing towards her. Its high-speed movement made it impossible for the invisibility cloak to refresh in time.
"Stop right there!" the guard shouted and immediately opened fire without warning.
After all, Umbrella's security procedures clearly state that any unidentified creatures that escape from the laboratory should be killed without warning.
This transparent thing can definitely be considered an unidentified creature.
Natasha was stunned. Were the security guards really that aggressive? They just opened fire without warning. Weren't they afraid of accidentally injuring anyone?
This time there was no time to hesitate. Natasha quickly ducked and slid through the security checkpoint.
Because she's invisible, the guards can't aim accurately. Black Widow is also very fast, and after all, she's been enhanced by advanced technology, so she can dodge a pistol bullet. After all, not everyone is Quicksilver; if you're too fast, you'll just run into the bullets.
Natasha, upon reaching the guards, didn't even stand up before kicking several bodyguards in the legs, knocking them to the ground.
Then she stood up, ready to continue her escape, but just as she stood up, Eric had already run up and slammed Natasha into the wall in the distance with a single impact.
Eric slowed down slightly, after all, Tony had instructed him to leave no survivors. In addition, although the invisibility suit was not bulletproof, it did provide some safety and shock absorption. Natasha felt a tightness in her chest and felt like she was going to vomit blood, but she quickly climbed down from the wall to prepare for the battle.
"Nick Fury, just wait till we get back and see how I deal with you." The experienced Natasha felt that her ribs might have cracked from that blow.
Eric watched through the thermal imaging device as the blurry humanoid figure opposite him got into a fighting stance. He also stretched his body with interest, preparing for hand-to-hand combat, to show her what real strength was.
Natasha rushed forward first, and Eric threw a punch at her head, but Eric misjudged the image formed by the thermal imaging device. It did not depict the human body very accurately, but only showed the heat.
This caused Eric to throw a punch inaccurately, and Natasha dodged the punch, then landed a punch on Eric's head.
Natasha immediately felt a sharp pain in her fist, as if she had hit a rock. She felt that she had not hurt Eric at all, so she quickly changed the location of her attack.
He casually pulled off the thermal imaging device that Eric was wearing on his head.
Eric missed his punch, and then his opponent punched him in the head. Although it didn't hurt much, he was still very angry. At this point, he could feel his opponent getting close, so he didn't need the thermal imaging device anymore and started close combat.
Based on experience, Eric grabbed Natasha, who then used jiu-jitsu to attack him at close range. This effectively countered Eric's strength advantage, successfully bringing the two to the same level for a fight.
The only regret is Tony watching the surveillance footage.
"Jarvis, is Eric having an epileptic seizure, or is there a flea in his clothes? I'm a hot female agent, what's going on?"
Jarvis said seriously, "The laboratory adheres to Level 1 hygiene standards, so there are no fleas or similar creatures present. Furthermore, according to Eric's recent examination, he does not have any neurological disorders. Should we inform the T1 laboratory about this side effect hypothesis and have them investigated it further?"
"No need, I was just joking. Let's keep watching." It seems Jarvis still needs to evolve further; he can't quite handle the sarcastic remarks yet.
The struggle quickly came to a conclusion, given the vast difference in their physical abilities. Natasha had circled Eric three times, repeatedly attempting to strangle him, but Eric managed to break free each time with brute force.
The closest I came was when I finally managed to break free. I strained for ages until I was exhausted, but Eric didn't even faint. In the end, I was too weak to continue and Eric managed to break free.
After a long struggle, Eric seized the opportunity when Natasha lost her strength and threw her off him.
However, Natasha took advantage of the direction of the throw, controlling the landing point to hit the guard in the inspection passage who had just stood up.
The guard couldn't see Natasha under the invisibility cloak and was bumped into by her. Natasha, who was prepared, knocked him unconscious.
This time, Natasha didn't leave immediately; instead, she pulled a pistol directly from the guard.
If fists can't hurt you, bullets will surely do.
Hey, hey, hey.
The bullets struck Eric directly with three gunshots, but were stopped by his body armor and mask. It was clear that Tony had equipped the team with high-end gear, and thanks to his strong physique, Eric didn't even have to retreat.
"Damn it!" Natasha, having misjudged again, threw the gun at Eric. Without the thermal imaging device, it disappeared from Eric's sight once more.
Eric also lost interest in fighting; the experience just now was too bad, and he had no way to use his strength.
Eric simply picked up the stun grenade hanging on his body, pulled the safety pin, and threw it aside.
The bright light and loud noise enveloped the entire inspection corridor. Eric swayed but remained steady, but Natasha was not so lucky. She became dizzy and couldn't stand up, falling to the ground.
The invisibility cloak also temporarily malfunctioned due to the violent tremors, revealing its true form. Natasha was right; it was like a leather jacket, but with a more metallic texture, flowing like mercury.
Eric wasn't using any of his gear to restrain the prisoner. He waved to the security personnel who had caught up with him, picked up a stun gun, and fired at close range.
The electric current immediately snapped Natasha back to her senses, and she straightened up on the ground. It seems that electricity is the most effective; no amount of enhancement can withstand an electric shock. If that doesn't work, we'll just have to increase the voltage.
"Boss, we've caught the mouse," Eric reported to Tony.
"Okay, let's find a room, take off her invisibility cloak, and search for any memory or anything. Jarvis said she copied the data. Then bring her here, and I'll interrogate her myself."
"Okay!" After receiving the order, Eric pressed the stun gun again to shock Natasha to make sure she wouldn't wake up, before arranging for his men to lift Natasha up.
Instead of going far, he found a nearby laboratory and prepared to open the package, but a new problem arose. Eric looked at the all-metal, leather-like invisibility cloak and couldn't figure out how to open it, as there was no zipper or anything.
Jarvis noticed Eric's confusion and suggested, "Most electronic devices can be restarted by overloading with an electric shock, so I suggest increasing the shock."
