Chapter 59
Rat-Catching Operation
Natasha successfully followed the researchers through the door behind the front desk and found that, just as she had imagined, the room was about the size of a small changing room, and the items inside were the same as in a changing room.
Several lockers were neatly arranged against the wall, and there was a bench for sitting while changing clothes. A television was mounted on the wall opposite the door.
Just as Natasha was wondering whether to knock the researcher unconscious and search the room, the researcher suddenly walked up to the television, which immediately turned on.
A red little girl's head appeared, looking down at the researcher, followed by the voice of a synthesized electronic girl.
"Researcher Kafko, access level D3, entry permitted. Please state the floor you wish to enter."
Natasha felt goosebumps as she listened to the electronic voices and saw the little girl's image; the atmosphere was extremely eerie.
Kafko, however, was already used to it and answered directly, "The third floor, T1 Biological Experiment Center."
As Kafko answered, the cabin began to vibrate slightly. Natasha felt a slight weightlessness and immediately realized that she was going down. It seemed that she had made the right bet, and the true secret of the Umbrella Corporation was about to be revealed to her.
The elevator quickly arrived at D3, and Natasha followed researcher Kavko out of the elevator and left the reception desk.
Once here, Natasha no longer needed to rely on Kafko's access control, because most of the rooms were transparent. At a glance, glass partitions divided the entire space into sections, each where researchers were conducting experiments.
Their experimental subjects were various organisms, which, although they appeared to be normal, directly overturned Natasha's understanding of animals.
Two cat-sized mice were fighting in a glass enclosure, while several idle researchers watched with great interest. Natasha, who was passing by, overheard a few words and guessed that they had placed bets on the outcome of the mice's fight. The bets were quite varied, including not only whether the mice would win or lose, but also whether they would lose a leg or have their head blown off.
"The work atmosphere is not bad." Natasha thought to herself, then stood aside and watched the rat duel for a while. Since the invisibility cloak could record and display the video, it could also store the video, so Natasha didn't need to operate the camera separately.
After watching for a while, Natasha was basically certain that if the rat was trained or controlled by humans, she definitely couldn't beat it with her bare hands, as it was too fast.
Besides the rats, there were various other animals that had been clearly enhanced. What caught Natasha's attention the most was a chimpanzee. Compared to the enhanced strength and size of the ordinary animals, what intrigued Natasha was that this chimpanzee was reading a book.
Natasha leaned over and glanced at the book title. It was a book about harmonious coexistence between humans and animals. It seemed that the people in this research lab were also afraid of causing a war between humans and apes.
However, the presence of two armed guards revealed that Umbrella was not actually looking for peaceful coexistence and was always on guard.
"This enhancement not only improves physical fitness, but also strengthens the brain; even gorillas can now read books."
Natasha explored the entire laboratory, filming everything that needed to be filmed. She then began searching for a computer she could connect to; only one final step remained: copying the data.
At this moment, Kafko, who unexpectedly brought Natasha in, was once again targeted by Natasha. Natasha had naturally overheard Kafko's conversation with the security personnel and knew that Kafko was delivering information to Tony Stark, so he must have the authority to enter the data room.
Recalling Kafko's movements after entering, Natasha quickly found a room containing only a computer.
Perhaps due to overconfidence in the security measures mentioned above, the security measures in the entire laboratory were relatively weak. Apart from the security personnel watching the gorilla, there were almost no other security personnel on the move.
When no one was looking, Natasha quietly pushed open the glass door, slipped inside, quickly found a computer port, fumbled around on her arm for a moment, pulled out a data cable, and plugged it directly into the computer.
The virus software that S.H.I.E.L.D. had pre-installed began automatically analyzing the data on the computer and copying the data.
Natasha also heard the progress notifications in her ears.
"Copy progress 10%, 11%..."

After receiving Tony's order to increase security checks on the lab and prevent unauthorized entry, Eric immediately relayed the message to all security departments and began patrolling personally.
Umbrella's main laboratories are now divided into two buildings: a T0 experimental building, which mainly studies the T0 strain, the creation of Tyrants, and experimental control methods. The researchers on this project have basically given up on making the T0 strain as powerful as the T1 strain, allowing the test subjects to control it themselves. Instead, they are focusing on turning the Tyrant into a weapon.
So, putting aside commercial value, the T0 experimental building is more dangerous and more vulnerable to infiltration and sabotage. Therefore, Eric inspected the area first and only came to the T1 experimental building, which was responsible for enhancing the T1 strain, after confirming that there were no problems.
After entering, Eric asked if anyone had come in or gone out. He learned that only researcher Kafko had entered, but he didn't pay much attention and simply swiped his card to enter the front desk hut.
Upon entering, Eric sensed something was amiss. The T-virus enhancement not only amplified strength and agility but also enhanced the five senses, such as smell and hearing.
Although his mind hadn't quite processed it yet, Eric instinctively sensed that something was wrong. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and finally realized what was amiss.
He opened the door and asked the security team on duty, "Has anyone applied perfume?"
One of the muscular guys in the squad, upon hearing Eric's words, immediately brightened up and said, "I sprayed on some cologne, boss, do you like the scent?"
"Get lost!" Eric was also quite helpless. He didn't know why he had been the target of rumors, and people kept showing off their muscles to him. After he beat up a few people, he managed to curb the trend, but it didn't completely stop it. Some people's actions became even more perverted, as if they wanted to be beaten up by him.
But Eric didn't have time to beat people up today. He said seriously, "It's not the scent of cologne, it's a different fragrance. Someone has been in the elevator. Watch the door. You two, come with me." After saying that, Eric picked two people and they followed him into the elevator.
After the elevator doors closed, Eric took out his ID card, swiped it on the cabinet by the wall, and the cabinet door opened to reveal the full set of equipment inside.
A mask covering the entire head, a loaded assault rifle, a fully charged stun gun, a lightweight body armor already fitted with stun grenades and filled with special ammunition magazines, and various small accessories.
Eric and his two companions were soon fully armed. At this moment, Eric walked in front of the television and spoke to it.
"Red Queen, report to the boss that someone has broken in. Also, start the rat-catching operation."
The image of the little girl on the television reappeared, this time appearing even colder, with a cold, mechanical voice repeating Eric's words.
"Report: Someone has infiltrated and initiated a rat-catching operation."
