Chapter 53
Tyrant
Eric watched the approaching zombies, waited a moment, and when they were about a body length away, he turned around and started running too.
Eric was followed by three zombies, and the chase began in the test site. The screen on the control panel started displaying the speed.
Eric's speed surpassed General Ross's test records over many years in an instant, excluding Hulk, since Hulk hadn't been tested and wasn't cooperating.
After running for a while, Eric's speed gradually decreased. Running in a straight line was no longer enough to create distance, so he began to use the obstacles on the field, running back and forth, hiding, and so on to control the distance.
"The speed enhancements have already been demonstrated; next up is the demonstration of strength and reaction speed."
Upon hearing Tony's words on the radio, Eric stopped running and threw a punch at the zombie running towards him.
The zombie was only focused on running when Eric's fist struck it directly in the chest, sending it flying backward.
The zombie flew about ten meters away, then rolled several meters on the ground, struggling to get up, but its chest bones were shattered. Its legs tried to stand up, but its body remained lying on the ground, which looked extremely bizarre.
Two more zombies then surrounded him. Instead of directly knocking the zombies away, Eric drew a dagger from his waist and dodged their attacks with agility.
Despite the zombie's incredible speed, Eric handled it with ease. After a while, he precisely severed the zombie's tendons with his dagger, causing the zombie to collapse to the ground, becoming a cocoon along with the zombie whose sternum had shattered.
"Alright, Eric can come back now." Eric's performance showcased the enhancement technology to its fullest extent.
Ross was very satisfied with the results, but still had some doubts: "The effect is very good, but there is still one problem. I can see that the soldier you brought is very powerful. Does your enhancement require any special qualities from the user?"
"Don't worry about that, not at all. Even an ordinary person can use this kind of enhancement. Look, even zombies can turn into super zombies, let alone humans," Tony replied confidently.
"Very good." Ross nodded with great satisfaction, but didn't say anything else. He looked at the other boxes Tony had brought, to see if Tony had any other items to show.
Tony wasn't in a hurry. After Eric came out, he continued, "In addition to the enhancements in strength and speed, the T1 upgrade also greatly enhances recovery capabilities. You can see these zombies; they've already begun to recover."
Upon hearing Tony's explanation, Ross noticed that the Chrysalis had already gotten up, their shattered sternums were standing upright again, and the zombies with torn tendons were also standing up.
The recovered zombie roared, then, realizing Eric was gone, looked around before turning its attention to the crowd in the stands.
Having finished demonstrating the recovery capabilities, Tony began to introduce the second product, or rather, the technology.
"Next up is Umbrella's T0 enhancement technology, or rather, its biological weapon."
As Tony tapped his watch again, the remaining box slowly opened. This time, after the cold air and white mist dissipated, a giant creature appeared. Apart from having limbs and a head, it was still recognizable as humanoid. Other features made it almost impossible to tell that it was human. Its body was blood red, its muscles were grotesque, and it wore a metal helmet on its head.
"Let me introduce you, T0 Tyrant." As Tony finished speaking, the three-meter-tall Tyrant began to move.
With a rumbling sound as he stomped on the ground, the Tyrant charged towards the zombies. The zombies seemed to sense the difference in the amount of T-virus they carried and understood the disparity in their social classes, so they immediately began to flee.
But the tyrant was faster; with a swing of his arm, he grabbed a zombie and instinctively tried to put it in his mouth.
As a result, the metal helmet hindered its eating, and the tyrant angrily tore the zombie in half, scattering its internal organs and intestines all over the ground.
Perhaps one wasn't enough to vent their anger, and two other zombies soon followed suit.
After dealing with the zombies, the tyrant's anger had not subsided, and he continued to search for other targets, soon setting his sights on Tony and the others on the high platform.
However, compared to the zombies, the Tyrant had higher intelligence or fighting instincts. Instead of launching a flesh-and-egg attack, it picked up the open metal box lid on the ground and spun it like a dart towards the high platform.
The lid slammed into the blast-proof glass with a whooshing sound, and cracks appeared in the glass amidst the loud impact.
"This enhancement effect is indeed quite good, but you'd better have a way to control it." Ross looked at Tyrant, whose size was already very close to that of Hulk, and was very satisfied, but the shattered glass also made Ross a little worried, fearing that an accident like Hulk's might happen again.
"The control method is still being improved. This time, we only brought the stop switch, but there's no rush. The demonstration isn't finished yet." With that, Tony walked to the control panel.
"This seems to be an automated weapon terminal made by Stark Industries as well. Would you mind if I used it?"
The female adjutant glanced at Ross, who nodded in agreement with Tony. The adjutant swiped her ID card, then stepped back, indicating to Tony that he could do as he pleased.
Tony first activated the automatic fire of the machine guns, and the machine guns deployed around the test site began to automatically lock onto the target.
Then bullets rained down on the tyrant like they were free, the sound of bullets echoing across the test site along with Tony's explanations.
"Although the T0 Tyrant enhancement lowers the user's intelligence, it greatly enhances the user's various stats, even surpassing the limits of carbon-based life forms. Ordinary bullets cannot truly damage the Tyrant's skin."
"Very good!" Ross gave an affirmative answer. Eric's previous performance had not exceeded Ross's expectations, after all, Captain America was a shining example.
But now the tyrant's performance is entirely made for the battlefield. After all, what soldier wouldn't be terrified when they see a monster charging towards them, blocking bullets?
"In addition, it can withstand rockets and other weapons very well, and even withstand shock waves due to its own weight." As he spoke, Tony pressed other buttons on the control panel.
The weapons around the test site were activated again, and rockets were launched directly at the Tyrant.
The flames burst forth, engulfing the tyrant. Before the smoke had even cleared, the tyrant, utterly enraged, burst forth from the flames and charged toward the crowd.
The tyrant leaped up and crashed into the shatterproof glass, causing the cracks in the glass to widen further.
Seeing this, Ross asked, "What are your countermeasures? If your soldiers only have the methods they just used, I think you'd better have other methods, otherwise I estimate that none of them here will be able to escape."
Tony remained calm and explained, "No rush. Stark Industries' automated weapon systems are quite reliable. This shock generator works very well and is perfect for dealing with this kind of monster."
As he spoke, Tony pressed the button again, and the large, horn-like structures around the experimental field rotated and activated, sending a massive sound wave that struck the Tyrant.
The continuous shockwaves trapped the tyrant in place, the shocks relentlessly ravaging its body. Finally, the tyrant felt the pain and began to roar incessantly.
