Chapter 67
Tony VS Hulk
With no pursuing soldiers and no more armed helicopters to harass him, Banner's subconscious kicked in. Hulk chose a direction and started to escape, leaping several times to get out of the command vehicle's surveillance range.
Ross, inside the command vehicle, turned pale. Their closest chance to capture the Hulk had slipped away after so long. He quickly and sternly said to Catherine:
"Where's the satellite? Stay close to it. Armed helicopters and ground troops, follow it."
Catherine quickly reported: "The satellite has locked onto the target, the armed helicopter has been destroyed, and the ground troops have withdrawn from the battlefield."
Catherine put it more tactfully: Bronsky's men are either crippled or dead, only Bronsky himself is still alive, but he can't keep up with Hulk anymore, he's too far behind.
Rose knew that with the game in such a state, there was little hope of continuing to follow them. He walked to the monitor and looked at the satellite live feed, hoping not to lose track of them.
Tony then picked up his phone, pretended to look at it, walked over to Ross, and said something.
"Um, General Ross, I just received a message that there is a Brazilian partner we need to talk to now."
Ross frowned at Tony, wondering what he was up to. Tony, afraid Ross wouldn't let him leave, secretly showed Ross his phone.
Upon seeing the text message, Ross was so angry his mustache practically stood on end. He squeaked out a single word through gritted teeth: "Get lost."
"Sorry, I'll be back in a bit. Shall we meet at the airport again?" Tony said apologetically as he put away his phone and walked out.
No wonder Ross was angry. Tony showed him a text message with an attached photo. The sender was a famous Brazilian actress, known for her voluptuous figure and stunning looks. The photo she sent Tony was the kind that was very revealing.
After Tony got out of the car, an SUV was already waiting. After getting in, Tony said to Jarvis, "Please schedule my date with the beautiful woman for an hour later. I have some things to take care of first."
Jarvis immediately imitated Tony's tone to arrange a time and place with the female celebrity, and even booked a room and room service in advance.
After Tony finished speaking, the driver asked, "Boss, Captain Eric has sent a message saying he's caught up with the monster. Shall we head over now?"
"No rush. We'll launch after the satellite loses its target. It should be quick then."
In the command vehicle on the other side, just as Tony said, the satellite quickly lost track of the Hulk because he ran into the rainforest. The towering trees and wide river provided natural barriers for the Hulk, and the satellite could not capture any trace of him.
Only Eric, who had been secretly following along, managed to keep track of Hulk by following his footprints. However, once Hulk transformed into Banner, a human footprint would soon be swallowed up by the rainforest, and Eric would lose track of Hulk again.
"Alright, we can't see the Hulk anymore." Tony looked at the satellite image of Stark provided by Jarvis, confirming that the Hulk had entered the rainforest, before letting the driver set off.
They didn't drive directly into the rainforest, as it would be troublesome if Ross, who was still persistent, found them. When passing through the rainforest, Tony jumped out of the car and entered. Then, using the location of Eric provided by Jarvis, he quickly found Eric.
"This rainforest is really hard to walk through," Tony couldn't help but complain as they reached Eric's side.
Eric looked at Tony and saw that Tony's clothes weren't dirty at all. How could Tony have the nerve to say that to someone like him who was soaking wet?
To keep up with the Hulk, Eric didn't stop for a moment, running the whole way in straight lines. Whether it was the tall grass in the primeval jungle or the riverbed with crocodiles and parasites, it was like a triathlon. After all, the Hulk was jumping around and ignored the terrain.
"It's not easy to walk, boss. Do you have some kind of high-tech gadget, like iron rings? It's best if it's not just something that keeps your clothes clean, otherwise I don't know why you're asking me to follow this monster."
It seems Eric still has a deep impression of the ten rings. After seeing that Ross only brought a few armed helicopters in the end, Tony knew that Hulk couldn't be kept. After all, let alone planes, he was fighting alien monster ships later on. So he asked Eric to secretly follow Hulk's whereabouts and report back to him.
"It's kind of like black technology." Tony couldn't say that telekinesis was also a kind of ability enhanced by the T-virus. At present, the research on the T-virus has not shown any effect of telekinesis. Let's talk about it when the research is completed.
"Okay, should I lure the monster out? He seems to be asleep by the tree," Eric said, pointing to a large tree in the distance.
"No need, I'll go check it out myself. I probably can't take him down anyway, I just want to try and get some blood samples. You go back first, they're probably about to wrap up. Stick close to Ross. Oh, and remember to check on our men, although I reckon their injuries should be fine."
Eric wanted to curse as soon as he heard Tony's words. He had just fought a monster and run dozens of kilometers, and now he was being told to run back. Eric instinctively reached for his gun, but for some reason, he suddenly realized that Tony's words made sense and that he had to hurry back.
"Okay, boss." Eric turned and ran back towards the factory.
Tony watched Eric's retreating figure, recalling how he had just used his telekinesis to smooth over Eric's anger and instilled in him a subconscious command to obey his orders. It seemed that he was not far from completely brainwashing Eric.
Tony then stretched his body. He had used telekinesis to fly across the difficult paths he encountered along the way, and had been using telekinesis to form a shield to protect himself. After all, there were many mosquitoes in the rainforest. It wasn't that he was afraid of being bitten, but mainly that he was afraid of some bloodsucker sucking his blood and then undergoing a thorough natural evolution in the rainforest. Who knew what kind of monster would emerge in the end? If it turned into a Godzilla, that would be quite a show.
Several large trees were uprooted by Tony's telekinesis and flew straight toward Hulk, who was resting.
Just as the tree was about to crash down on Hulk, Hulk suddenly opened his eyes and threw a punch that sent the tree flying. One of the trees even flew backwards towards Tony.
Tony followed suit and punched the tree, but his hand was too small, and the tree exploded in the middle instead of hitting back like a baseball.
Upon seeing this, Hulk immediately opened his mouth to roar, but Tony quickly used his telekinesis to whip up a ball of river water and rush it into Hulk's mouth, causing Hulk to choke and cough repeatedly.
"Stop shouting with that loud voice, or you'll attract Ross's attention again."
Hulk had never been teased like this before. After stopping choking on water, he stopped roaring and charged at Tony with a savage ramming motion, intending to smash the little bug flat.
Seeing this, Tony pointed at Hulk with one hand, focused his mind, and quickly enveloped Hulk with his telekinetic energy. Then, Hulk was seen to float up and hover in mid-air.
