Chapter 60
Black Widow's Tragedy
As the Red Queen initiated her rat-catching operation, all the lights in the underground laboratory turned red, and a piercing alarm sounded.
"Suspected T-virus leak. Emergency evacuation plan initiated. All laboratory personnel are requested to proceed to the nearest assembly point. Access to all laboratories will be closed in 3 minutes."
After the alarm sounded, the researchers weren't too nervous, because according to Tony, the safety drills should be memorized and practiced regularly; they had already done them three times this month.
Tony also has this problem left over from his previous life. In this line of work, he has to be in charge of security. Unlike Stark's business, where a bomb can just blow up, if something goes wrong here, it will ruin his wonderful life. It's better to be more strict.
The researchers paused their experiment, locked the subjects back in the experimental chamber to ensure nothing would escape, grabbed an oxygen mask from the nearest emergency equipment, and followed the red markings on the ground toward the stairs.
In addition to the elevator, there is a staircase that runs through the entire underground experimental field; next to the staircase, there is also a huge elevator used to transport large equipment.
The evacuation of the third floor went relatively smoothly, with only two minor disturbances. One was that the group that gambled had some complaints, feeling that the two rats could decide the winner within a minute and were reluctant to leave. However, after their supervisor arrived, they obediently locked the rats back up and began to evacuate.
Another problem is that the gorilla who was reading the book didn't want to go back to the isolation pod and gestured that he wanted to get an oxygen mask and then evacuate with us. Sure enough, having intelligence brings troubles and worries.
The two guards, holding guns, were unsure whether to fire. After all, the gorilla hadn't posed a threat, and killing it directly would be considered damaging company assets.
But if they don't fire, the two of them might not be able to defeat this equally enhanced gorilla.
The supervisor was at a loss and could only report the incident. After discussing it with two security personnel, they entered the laboratory together, locked the laboratory door from the inside, and turned on the independent air circulation system, hoping it was just a drill or that the problem would be resolved as soon as possible.
As the alarm sounded, Natasha was still staring at the progress bar, muttering, "Copy progress 87%, 88%..."
The good news is that at this copying speed, it can be completed in three minutes, but the bad news is that I haven't figured out a way to leave yet, and seeing that the researchers are all wearing oxygen masks, it seems that this T virus has a big problem. Should I bring a mask? There's a cabinet not far away with oxygen masks in it.
But the thought of being invisible, with a mask floating in the air, and surrounded by cameras, made me realize that I would be exposed immediately.
Taking a gamble? Hopefully, I can survive this T-virus. Damn Nick Fury, he sent me on a mission without any information.
Thinking this, as soon as the copying process was finished, Natasha pulled out the data cable and immediately began to evacuate according to the route marked on the ground. Due to the urgency of the situation, the speed of the movement was a bit fast, and the processor of the invisibility cloak could not keep up, causing some fluctuations in the invisibility effect.
Jarvis had taken full control and analyzed all the surveillance footage. With the support of powerful computing capabilities, Jarvis noticed the anomaly as soon as Natasha encountered a problem.
Tony then received a report from Jarvis.
"Sir, our initial assessment is that the other party used some kind of stealth device to infiltrate the area. They are currently on the third floor of the T1 test site. Furthermore, after reviewing their actions, I found records of data backup in the central database on the third floor."
"Record the route Coulson and his team took in and out, and analyze it."
Jarvis's analysis report was released quickly, along with a video.
"After Coulson's vehicle stopped, the rear door was slightly ajar, suggesting that the invisible man got out of their car."
"You really did bring people with you," Tony remarked, then asked, "Do you have the technology to detect invisible people?"
"It is suspected that the other party is using optical stealth technology. Thermal imaging equipment has been deployed and radar equipment has been placed at various exits of the T1 experimental building. In addition, the rat-catching plan has activated X-ray detection equipment at the stairwell of the underground experimental field. Theoretically, this equipment can detect optically stealthy people."
"Okay, take off his invisibility device. After you catch him, I want to go and see who in S.H.I.E.L.D. is so bold."
-----------------
Shortly after launching the rat-catching operation, Eric received a message from Jarvis: the rats had appeared on the third floor. Jarvis also informed the group that they needed to bring the thermal imaging device from the equipment cabinet, which should be able to detect invisible people.
The group, who had thermal imaging sensors attached to their masks, quickly took the elevator to the third floor.
Natasha finally reached the exit stairs on the third floor, but then had to stop and dared not go any further.
After all, who designs their emergency exit as an X-ray inspection channel? There's a huge X-ray machine around the entire exit, and a monitor next to it displays the skeletal images in real time.
Aren't the people in your company afraid of getting cancer from excessive radiation exposure?
Natasha was overthinking it. The X-ray equipment is not usually used. It is being used now mainly to prevent researchers from being infected and mutating. Compared to visual observation, X-ray imaging is clearer, and the bone density of mutated infected organisms usually changes first.
When Natasha saw the heavily armed soldiers at the end of the passage, she abandoned her plan to charge through, after all, she was wearing an invisibility cloak, not a bulletproof vest.
"We can only go back and try to find a way through the elevator, or find a room to wait for the alarm to stop."
Natasha still hadn't realized that everything was aimed at catching her, but she soon came to her senses—after returning to the third-floor laboratory, she saw three people in full gear rushing towards her with guns in hand, their masks glowing red; she immediately recognized them as thermal imaging devices.
"Use the stun gun," Eric ordered, looking at the equipment in the lab.
Natasha knew that invisibility was no longer useful, so she simply turned it off, revealing her voluptuous figure.
Upon seeing the agent's attractive figure on the surveillance footage, Tony began to make comparisons in his mind. Among all the women he had dated, her figure was among the best, and coupled with her status as a secret agent, she was a definite winner.
"Jarvis, are there any Japanese film studios in Los Angeles? I've come up with some ideas and need to buy some equipment to make short films."
"Okay, boss, let's start the search."
Seeing Jarvis actually start searching, Tony quickly said, "No need, even if you have it, you can't write it down. Tell Eric to catch him alive, just keep the copied data, and return him to S.H.I.E.L.D."
"Okay, that's been relayed to Eric. Also, boss, are you sure you don't need to do any more searching?"
"No need," Tony said with a hint of regret, then continued watching the monitor. Eric's battle with the female agent had already begun.
