Chapter 51
Super Soldier Serum
The soldiers who came to pick up the passengers looked at the huge box and compared it with the shuttle bus that the personnel who had come to pick them up had driven. They could only call the logistics center to send another large vehicle.
Ross also saw from the command center that Tony Stark had disembarked from the illegally intruding plane, so he ordered the all-clear to be lifted and then went down to the ground himself to meet Tony Stark.
While waiting for the person picking them up, Tony chatted with Eric.
"How's the enhancement effect? Are there any issues you're experiencing?"
Upon hearing Tony's words, Eric grinned, revealing his white teeth, and said, "It feels great, I just wonder when we can start the second phase of enhancement."
"We can make arrangements once the results of the human trials stabilize."
To ensure stable enhancement effects without side effects, Umbrella uses serum to reduce the enhancement effect and enhance in stages. Even if genetic chaos occurs, it can be salvaged with the serum.
Now that the first phase of the experiment has stabilized, Eric and the team members were given enhanced treatment.
With the enhanced body, Tony can now reliably practice mind control skills using telekinesis. After all, the action team are normal people, and their thoughts are much easier to understand than those of the various infected beings in the laboratory.
Eric, now enhanced and reminded of his revenge, asked, "Obadai is dead. Do you still have any leads on the organization behind it? The biotech company you mentioned earlier had a fire; I suspect they're cleaning up the mess."
Eric was very familiar with this kind of work—destroying evidence and cleaning up the scene—which he had done many times for the CIA before.
"We have some clues, but now is not the time for revenge. The other party is hiding inside an official agency, so it's not a good time to take direct action," Tony explained.
"Hidden within official institutions? Is it an association of high-ranking officials, like the Illuminati? A group of high-ranking officials and wealthy businessmen?" Eric subconsciously thought of the legends of the Illuminati, which were clearly very popular in the United States.
"No, it's not that high-class, but it's still quite powerful. They rely on a single organization. Take the CIA for example, there are some people in the CIA who have defected from the United States for their own purposes, and they have even developed their own power outside the CIA using CIA funds."
Eric was confused, but he didn't ask any further questions. In any case, the most important thing right now was to continue undergoing the T-virus enhancement and modification. Judging from the projects currently being carried out in the laboratory, he still had a lot of room for evolution.
Once there's nothing left here to strengthen myself, I can leave and take revenge in my own way. I can also go to Wakanda to retrieve my father's and my belongings.
While the two were chatting, Ross arrived with the vehicle that was supposed to transport the boxes.
Although Ross is not young, he looks very healthy. He probably already has some enhancement technology on him.
As soon as the car came to a stop, Ross flipped himself off the Jeep and strode toward Tony.
Before Tony could react, Ross grabbed his hand and held it tightly. Luckily, Tony wasn't a germaphobe anymore, or they would have started fighting right there.
"You look very much like Howard. I lived in New Jersey when I was young, and I have a very strong impression of your father."
Tony hadn't expected Ross to start with such casual conversation, so he could only awkwardly say:
"Really? I'm not actually that familiar with him; we haven't met that many times."
Tony's unpredictable behavior left Ross speechless, so he decided to skip the topic altogether.
"I think you should know why I invited you here."
"We didn't find anything out about that corpse, so you still have to cooperate with me, right?"
Tony cut to the chase, leaving Rose rather embarrassed, but it also got to the point.
"Get in the car, we'll talk on the way." Ross led the way into the jeep. Eric and the others looked around and didn't have their own cars, so they simply squeezed onto the truck transporting the boxes. This also ensured that the soldiers wouldn't open the boxes out of curiosity and cause a riot.
"I'm in charge of this base; its main purpose is to carry out the bio-enhancement program."
"I saw it in Stark's visit logs. You came to the company with government documents and looked at the materials left by my father."
"Unfortunately, Stark Industries didn't leave much information behind, only a few words mentioned in your father's notes. However, I found more information elsewhere, in the Scientific Strategy Corps that your father worked with—by the way, they're now called S.H.I.E.L.D."
"S.H.I.E.L.D., I've had some contact with them too. Your people ran into S.H.I.E.L.D. that day."
"I know, Nick Fury called me and said that the agent and my men had some disagreements. Humph, a blind black man leading a secret agency."
It's clear that Rose has a problem with Nick Fury, and is even a bit racist, but that has nothing to do with Tony.
"What results are you planning to achieve?" Tony asked, feigning ignorance.
Ross said vaguely, "Based on the super-soldier serum samples left by the military, plus your father's technical data, we have basically replicated the serum used by Captain America."
"Wouldn't that mean we could mass-produce Captain America?"
You know, Marvel has some amazing technology, right? They can even mass-produce Captain America. But wait, we don't see super soldiers running all over the world.
Ross corrected him sheepishly, "We can only replicate the serum. In fact, Dr. Erskine's enhancement plan originally included the Vita Ray to activate its effects, in addition to the serum. We failed to successfully replicate the Vita Ray technology. Therefore, the effects of the serum after use are completely different from the test records left by Captain America."
"Vita Ray? Why wasn't this restored? Is there no technical data left?" Tony asked curiously. He originally thought the difficulty lay in the serum, but it turned out the difficulty lay in this ray.
So, does this mean that since they couldn't create Vita rays, they switched to researching gamma rays and ended up creating the Hulk?
Upon hearing Tony's question, Ross looked at Tony with a hint of reproach in his eyes and said, "According to the records, all the data was destroyed after the laboratory explosion. Your father only built the Vita Ray generator, and the specific parameters were adjusted by Erkins alone. According to your father, after he finished setting up the radiation generator, he went on a date with a Hollywood star to celebrate, and did not work with Dr. Erkins to debug the equipment."
"Well, you know, my father wasn't married yet at the time, and everyone loves beauty." Howard was clearly very dashing, but the movie didn't give him enough screen time; perhaps giving him too much would have affected the rating.
"In short, we don't have the technical data for the Vita Ray, so the replica super soldier is somewhat inferior. And although it can enhance the character, it requires a very high level of skill from the soldier himself. It's completely different from the original, where even a little chick could become Captain America."
"So you've started researching other technologies? Any progress?"
"There are many plans, but so far they haven't yielded much success," Ross replied vaguely, clearly indicating that he wasn't yet ready to confide in Tony about the Hulk.
"Then come and see my skills, see what I brought, I think you'll be satisfied."
