Chapter 40
This is my perfect enhancement
Rumlow, who was monitoring from a distance, also noticed the anomaly.
Shortly after the appearance of zombies on a rainy night, Rumlow received a mission from S.H.I.E.L.D.
After all, Marbury lived in an affluent neighborhood, and the police responded very quickly. Initially, residents inside the houses discovered that someone on the street had turned into a zombie, and those who went out to check the situation also quickly collapsed. They immediately called the police.
When the police arrived, they accidentally came into contact with the rain and turned into zombies themselves. Naturally, the police sought help from other agencies, and the request for help quickly reached S.H.I.E.L.D., so Rumlow rightfully took over the situation.
However, Rumlow didn't rush in. Instead, he dispatched a large number of drones to spread the word in the community, telling people not to go out and get wet in the rain. At the same time, he operated unmanned equipment to clear the zombies from the streets and made records to send back to Zola later.
But now the people inside the house are also starting to mutate. Rumlow dismissed the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who weren't his own people, took out the computer he had put away, and contacted Dr. Zola.
"What's wrong?" Dr. Zola asked, puzzled.
"Doctor, you said before that this virus was spread by rain, right? But now it seems to be spreading through the air."
As he spoke, Rumlow showed Zola the footage recorded by the drone.
After a moment of silence, Zola guessed, "Perhaps the survival conditions originally set in our genes have evolved from rainwater to sufficient air humidity. But it's not a big problem; it will all disappear after the heavy rain. I think the rain should stop soon."
"I don't believe you for a second. Luckily I didn't go in." But Rumlow only thought to himself before asking, "So what you said about a 24-hour survival period, it shouldn't be wrong, right?"
As Zola previously stated, this T-virus is genetically restricted, meaning that no matter how many generations it undergoes mutation, it cannot survive more than 24 hours.
Zola stated definitively, "There's no mistake. The experiment has been conducted hundreds of times without exception. However, it's only an external virus. Those who have already become zombies won't die, but they will lose their infectivity."
"Okay." Rumlow was no longer in the mood to talk to Zola, so he shut down the computer and shouted to the agent not far away.
"Go, get everyone equipped with oxygen masks. Damn it, it seems like airborne transmission has started."
---------------
Pepper woke up almost immediately after receiving the T-virus serum.
Obadiah, on the other hand, finally lost interest in wasting time talking to Tony. It was clear that this experiment had gone too far. What was originally just rain-borne transmission had only affected some unlucky people on the street, but now it had become airborne transmission, which could be considered a terrorist attack. It was unclear whether the military would help suppress it.
Let's wrap up work early and think about a getaway plan. Maybe I should go to Russia, but it's not like the Soviet era anymore. It wouldn't be easy to get by there now.
"Let's do it. There's no need to capture him alive." He's already like this, let Tony die however he wants.
As Obama gave the order, the bodyguards thought they could finally get to work. "Aren't your hands tired from all that moving around?"
The bodyguard who was closest to Tony punched him in the head.
Pepper started screaming as she watched the fist, the size of a sandbag, hurtle towards her with a powerful gust of wind.
Then the scene took a sudden turn. Tony caught the fist with his hand, and then executed an over-the-shoulder throw, sending the bodyguard flying. He crashed into the television on the wall, smashing the wall to pieces.
The sudden change stunned the bodyguards behind them, and even Obadiah was taken aback.
"Alright, now I'll show you what perfect enhancement looks like." Tony unbuttoned his suit jacket, tossed it into Pepper's arms, and kissed her cheek, comforting her.
"Don't worry, we'll take care of them soon."
Pepper was a little worried and tugged hard on Tony's arm. Tony clapped his hands to make Pepper let go.
Jarvis spoke up at the opportune moment: "Miss Pepper, this way, there's a safe house. Please come this way." The mechanical arm reappeared, leading Pepper to the side.
The walls opened, revealing a safe house made of metal. It wasn't until Pepper entered the safe house that Obadiah seemed to realize what was happening.
"I should have realized this sooner! How could you not have investigated? You're an enhanced being too! I've been played by you all along!"
Tony shrugged indifferently and explained, "I wasn't playing you. To be precise, I didn't really care about you at all. Compared to you, I'm more curious about the organization behind you. But it seems you don't have a good relationship with them either. Has the cooperation broken down?"
Hearing Tony's nonchalant tone, and hearing Tony mention being scammed by Hydra, Obadiah finally lost his temper and began to swell up again, transforming into a giant over three meters tall in the blink of an eye.
Then, as if he had lost his mind, he charged forward, and the other bodyguards quickly followed, and a melee ensued.
Although Tony has been indulging in extravagance and debauchery these days, he has also been seriously training his body. Although he hasn't studied combat in depth, he has developed his physical potential and, after a lot of testing, mastered his body's abilities.
Enhanced by the perfect T-virus, Tony's strength, speed, and reaction abilities far surpass those of Obadiah and others.
Facing the combined attack of several people, Tony skillfully countered their moves and used his size advantage to move nimbly among them.
"If you've got the guts, don't dodge!" Obadiah roared, having missed several punches.
"Come on, I'll wait for you here." Tony had just escaped the group's attack and retreated a bit further away. Hearing Obadiah's words, he simply stopped and waved to Obadiah in a provocative manner.
Obadiah angrily charged at Tony, but this time Tony didn't dodge, and their fists collided.
A cracking sound rang out, and Obadiah was sent flying.
However, since he was the boss, he was different from the bodyguards. The other bodyguards rushed forward to catch him, and the huge impact caused them to roll around in a heap.
When Obadiah stood up again, he shook his broken arm, and a cracking sound rang out as the bone healed once more.
"Jarvis, make a note of this. His regenerative abilities are extremely strong. Give the record to Umbrella later and have them archive it."
"Yes, sir." Jarvis faithfully took notes.
Tony's words angered Obadiah again. However, Obadiah also realized that Tony's enhancements were stronger than his own. Even though Tony didn't have much fighting experience, he was able to easily outmaneuver his battle-hardened bodyguards with his physical abilities alone, just like an adult teasing a five or six-year-old child.
"Go, get the weapons from the car!" Upon receiving Obadiah's order, the bodyguard couldn't wait to get the weapons from the car, already seething with anger at being teased by Tony.
Soon, a barrage of cameras and microphones were aimed at Tony, and Obadiah, feeling tougher, shouted again.
"Goodbye this time, no, goodbye forever, Tony."
To vent his anger, Obadiah even snatched a rifle from the bodyguard and started spraying bullets at Tony without restraint.
As the magazines emptied, the sounds gradually subsided, and the smoke cleared, Obadiah and the others were astonished to find that the bullets were suspended in mid-air, forming a dense wall of bullets.
Tony held one hand out to the crowd, as if he had stopped the bullet with his mind.
"I told you, I am the perfect enhanced being. My abilities are not limited to this. Farewell, Obadiah."
Tony Pinto waved his hand, changing the direction of the bullets, and a dense barrage of bullets shot towards Obadiah and the others.
