Chapter 64
Ross's Secret Operation
"General, what do you think of my suggestion? I believe that the action team that has already completed its enhancement and adaptation period is more reliable than the temporarily enhanced soldiers," Tony continued to persuade.
When Ross heard Tony's suggestion, he first frowned, wondering whether he should let Tony Stark know his deepest secret.
Currently, Tony's T-virus enhancements are no match for the Hulk, which is something Ross secretly gloats over. Even the genius Tony Stark is no match for his Hulk.
Ross completely failed to consider that he didn't invent the Hulk enhancement technology himself, so what was there to be so proud of?
Ross considered the strength of his soldiers and compared it to Hulk's invulnerable skin, and finally said with some hesitation.
"Let me think about it. Since I'm here today, I'll check on the experiment's progress. Also, I should have the necessary permissions to come and go as I please."
"Of course, no problem. I'll enter it for you now." Tony turned to the Red Queen on the screen and gave the order.
"Give General Ross the highest authority."
"Yes, sir." Although that was the reply, the Red Queen did not actually enter the highest level of permission; she only entered the same level one permission as Wesker.
This was mainly to please Ross. From Ross's tone, Tony could tell that Ross was interested. Even if he wasn't involved in the first arrest, Ross would definitely think of him the second time.
There's not much to write about the rest of the visit. Ross has done experiments for so many years and has some experience in biological experiments. He toured the underground experimental site and basically got a grasp of the recent experimental progress. Wesker wasn't lying to him.
Having received advance warning from Catherine, Tony naturally instructed Wesker to make full preparations, claiming that the enhancement drug could not be delivered ahead of schedule. Not only was Ross, who was only half-baked, fooled, but even the researchers he had arranged to come in were successfully fooled.
In the end, despite Tony's repeated attempts to persuade Ross to stay, and even his promise to treat Ross to Hollywood specialties, Ross refused to stay the night.
Ross left in a hurry, and Catherine followed helplessly, finally only able to give Tony a resentful look.
---------------
A few days later, Tony, or rather Stark Industries, received a formal invitation, or rather, an employment contract.
A military-funded contract to hire security services from Stark Industries.
As mentioned earlier, Stark Industries has a security department, but it is generally not open to the public and is only responsible for the security of senior executives or overseas transactions.
Tony has also deployed a number of permanent armed personnel in Gomira, Middle East, to help with local reconstruction. According to Pepper's report, the construction is progressing very well.
Pepper sent the military employment contract directly to Tony.
"Tony, the military officials asked me to give this to you, and they said they need to use Umbrella's action team? Did you know about this?"
The work at Stark Industries has now been fully handed over to Pepper, and Tony has even stepped down as CEO.
Tony took the document Pepper handed him and glanced through it. The document didn't specify the reward, mission objectives, or other details; it only stated the approximate number of people needed, and vaguely mentioned that equipment was to be provided by the individual. It seemed that the specifics would need to be discussed with Ross.
After flipping through the pages for a while, Tony turned directly to the last page, which had Ross's signature. After confirming that it was about Hulk, he said to Pepper.
"I know what it is. You don't need to worry about it. I'll have Wesker and Eric handle it later. You just need to have the security company cooperate and go through the procedures." After saying that, Tony put the document on the scanning device and asked Jarvis to send it to Wesker for processing.
"It's good that you have a plan." After saying that, Pepper walked over and sat down next to Tony, staring at him as if she wanted to say something.
Tony, seizing the opportunity, put his arm around Pepper and asked, "Honey, is there anything else? Has the company been too busy lately?"
Upon hearing Tony's question, Pepper seemed to remember something and asked reproachfully:
"No matter how busy the company is, it's not as busy as you. You manage Umbrella Corporation, and you still have time to let your little girlfriend start a media company. I also heard that you have some exchanges with the female representative sent by the military."
Tony immediately realized that Pepper had come to complain, so he quickly hugged her tighter and began to use his charm.
"Pepper, you know me. Over the years, you're the only one who's been by my side all this time." Tony said, looking at Pepper with sincere eyes. Having inherited all of Tony Stark's memories, Tony truly had feelings for Pepper. However, with the added consciousness of a transmigrator, his devotion was tinged with a hint of promiscuity.
Looking into Tony's sincere eyes and with his handsome appearance, Pepper was somewhat captivated. After their thrilling date last time, their relationship was already close to taking the final step, but they had been held back by their busy work at Stark Industries.
Pepper's initiative to approach Tony today might be a sign that she's come to terms with things and is secretly hoping something will happen.
Their eyes met, they drew closer and closer, their lips touched, they groped around, and then Tony had Jarvis turn off the surveillance.
. . . . .
"Are you in such a hurry to leave?" Tony wanted to go on for another three hundred rounds. After all, he had spent a long time pursuing her and he was still not satisfied.
But Pepper still had a lot of work to do, explaining, "I have several meetings to attend this afternoon, including one about the appointment of the chief engineer for the weapons division. Since you're no longer developing weapons, it's rare to have an engineer who can command respect. I have to go to the weapons division to show that I value it, after all, weapons sales are Stark's most important business."
Perhaps realizing that leaving like this would seem heartless, she changed her tune, saying, "You can come to my place tonight if you have time. I prefer the atmosphere of home to the company office."
"No problem!" Tony readily agreed, then stepped forward and kissed Pepper, taking the opportunity to grope her a little before letting her leave.
"Jarvis, has Wesker made contact with General Ross yet?" Having spent quite some time with Pepper, Tony figured Wesker should have made contact as well, at least to agree on a price.
But Jarvis's words surprised Tony, who hadn't expected the opponent's speed to far exceed his expectations.
"Wesker has finished talking with the other side, and Eric has assembled the team. The team awaits your orders before setting off."
"So soon, where are we going? Is it still the base in New York?" Tony assumed they were going to the base to regroup and then give some instructions.
"No, it's going to Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. The specific location of the operation will be kept secret for now."
"They've started operating so quickly." Ross is really fast. He probably has everything arranged and is even monitoring Banner, just waiting for the team to be in place before starting the operation.
"Okay, let Eric prepare to leave according to plan. I'm going too."
"Okay, sir, do you need to bring T002?"
"Take it with you, whether you need it or not depends on the situation."
"Okay, please proceed to Umbrella Central Plaza. The transport plane is ready."
