Chapter 21
Umbrella Opens
As soon as Tony got out of bed on this new day, Jarvis's voice rang out.
"Sir, my mainframe has been upgraded. I reviewed the recent Obadiah monitoring data and found some anomalies."
"Is anything unusual? Did he make any moves?"
"No unusual activity was detected, but I suspect the data was intercepted and spoofed."
"What do you mean?" Tony didn't quite understand.
"Simply put, my surveillance footage of Obadiah was missing some data, and the missing data was filled in by someone faking it. For example, a video clip of Obadiah appearing in the surveillance footage was deleted, and a video clip from the same time period was uploaded to the monitoring center in a fake way," Jarvis explained.
"Just give me the conclusion." English wasn't Tony's native language in his previous life, and Tony's thinking still carried Chinese habits. Jarvis gave a long explanation with various words placed at the end, which made Tony a little dizzy.
"Someone is protecting Obama's information, and the methods are very sophisticated."
"How clever of me, yet you still managed to find out."
Jarvis, the artificial intelligence, had not yet evolved the arrogant and conceited human personality, and directly explained: "The reason I discovered this is because the other party's purpose was not to protect Obadiah, but to hide certain things about Obadiah. Therefore, not all information was hidden in the data, and it is precisely because of this that a logical loophole appeared."
In short, Obadiah's information about his journey to the dock to pick up the goods was erased, but the other party was too lazy to erase his information about leaving the dock, which allowed Jarvis, who had been monitoring Obadiah, to discover the loophole.
Although they discovered it, the other party had already achieved their goal and didn't care that Obadiah had been found to have problems, since what they wanted to hide was their collaborative project with Obadiah.
"What is this old man planning now?" Tony frowned as he listened to Jarvis's report.
He didn't even build his own mech, so he can't scavenge scrap metal. Does he think he can handcraft an Iron Monger? If that's the case, who's the real Iron Man? Am I just a fake Tony Stark?
For a moment, Tony couldn't figure it out either, so he could only ask Jarvis, "Can you break through their disguise?"
Jarvis answered honestly, "Theoretically, yes. My upgraded computing power can forcefully break through the other party's blockade and obtain the real data before they tamper with it, but I can't guarantee that I won't be discovered by them."
"Isn't there a way to avoid being discovered?" Tony pressed. Before Umbrella received full support from the military, Tony didn't plan to deal with Obadiah violently. Putting aside the potential legal risks, Tony couldn't accept the possibility of the stock price crashing. He had finally made money and couldn't go back.
"Since the other party did not completely block Obadiah's information, we can infer some of the truth that the other party wanted to hide by using the information that Obadiah did not tamper with. After obtaining enough information, we may be able to calculate some of the truth that the other party wanted to hide."
"Let's give it a try then." Tony had no better options and could only pin his hopes on Jarvis's abilities.
"Okay, it's been added to the background task. I'll report back to you once the results are calculated. Also, please note that your appointment with Miss Pepper at the Umbrella Corporation is approaching."
"Okay, I'm off now." After a quick wash, Tony had Jarvis bring out the equipment he had prepared and had several test tubes of blood drawn from him. He then changed his clothes and drove to Umbrella Corporation.
Since Pepper had arranged for the company to be located in Marbury, Tony arrived at the company in no time by car.
Company staff, researchers, and security personnel were already waiting at the entrance, led by Pepper.
As soon as Tony got out of the car, someone came up to him and introduced themselves to him.
"Hello, Mr. Stark, my name is Wesker, and I am the Umbrella manager appointed by Miss Pepper."
Tony was visibly taken aback when he heard Wesker's name, but after taking a closer look at Wesker's appearance, he realized that he didn't look like the one in the movie. That made sense, this was the Marvel universe, not the Resident Evil movie universe; it was just that the names happened to be the same.
Pepper really knows how to recruit people. Next, will she build a test site called Hive and recruit a security supervisor named Alice?
It's not that it won't work. Tony suddenly realized that doing it this way is quite interesting, and he can give it a try when he has some free time.
"Yeah, I like your name. Keep up the good work, I believe in you," Tony said casually.
"Thank you for your appreciation, Mr. Stark. I will definitely manage the company well," Wesker immediately began to pledge his loyalty.
Tony ignored his rambling and continued walking. Many researchers in white overalls wanted to come up to Tony to show their loyalty and express their support.
But Wesker, a seasoned veteran, beat him to it, and he was too embarrassed to say anything more. He could only stand awkwardly to the side. The educated ones were a bit shy, and the non-shy, educated ones would have already found good jobs and wouldn't have come to this little-known branch of Stark Industries.
However, Pepper still dutifully introduced Tony to the researchers present, all of whom she had carefully selected and recruited. Although most of them did not have any famous achievements, their basic knowledge was very solid.
The reason they didn't become famous wasn't because they didn't work hard enough, but because they were either unlucky, their experiments kept failing, or they weren't listed as authors on the research results. Going to school became like working, and they even had to pay for their work, accumulating a lot of tuition loans.
It was the student loans that left them with no other options but to take a job at Umbrella, a new company, on a whim.
After patiently listening to Pepper's explanation of the researchers, Tony finally spoke.
"I know many of you may not like it here, without famous scholars or promising projects, but today everything is different. We will make history and witness the arrival of a new era."
Jarvis even played some music to match, and although Tony's speech was a bit boring, the background music actually created a certain atmosphere.
Now that the atmosphere has been built up, Tony has to bring out something real.
"Now, all researchers, follow me. Where are the mice we ordered?"
"This way, I'll lead the way," Wesker said as he led the way.
Led by Wesker, they quickly passed through multiple security gates and arrived at the experimental area.
Although there weren't many projects, the research lab was built to the highest standards, with all kinds of protective measures in place. Jarvis was also given access to the system, allowing him to view the surveillance footage at any time or close the main gate to seal off the entrances and exits.
"Put all the mice into the isolation observation chamber." Under Tony's command, the researchers, though they didn't understand the intention, obediently carried out the order.
Inside the isolation observation chamber, the newly arrived mice were unfamiliar with the environment and were quite panicked, running around the chamber in a panic.
Tony opened the hatch and threw in a test tube containing his own blood. As the test tube shattered, the blood flowed onto the ground.
