Chapter 9

Jarvis

After Tony assigned Pepper the task of setting up a new company, he had Happy take him back to his seaside mansion in Malibu.

"Sir, we've arrived." The car drove directly to the mansion's entrance, and Happy reminded Tony that they had reached their destination.

"Okay, Happy, you go and rest. I'll go back by myself." Tony recalled the details of the mansion, especially the setting of the AI butler Jarvis.

"Okay, sir, but do you need medical attention? Your hand." Happy was still very responsible, reminding Tony that his hand was still in a sling around his neck.

Without Pepper, Tony no longer needed to pretend; he simply took his hand out of the bandage and showed it to Happy.

Happy immediately understood. No wonder he was a boss and a playboy. He had to use different methods to deal with different women. Just throwing money at Pepper wouldn't work.

Tony, oblivious to Happy's strange look, was already heading towards the mansion.

Tony's mansion, powered by AI Jarvis, doesn't require keys. When Tony arrives at the door, Jarvis has already scanned him and opened the door.

"Welcome home, sir."

"Hello, Jarvis," Tony greeted casually as he stepped into the mansion.

Although I was very familiar with my mansion in my memory, being there in person now still felt incredibly exhilarating.

This huge house is all my own. In my previous life, I worked hard all by myself in a foreign land, and the money I earned was only enough to rent a one-bedroom apartment. I never even dared to dream of buying a house.

Thank you, Tony Stark. I will live well for you and not waste my second life.

Overwhelmed with excitement, Tony wandered around the room, exclaiming in amazement at this and surprised at that, much like a country bumpkin visiting a grand garden.

Jarvis's voice suddenly rang out: "Sir, your behavior has been detected as inconsistent with the preset behavior. According to the algorithm, it does not match your identity. According to the settings, your identity needs to be verified."

As Jarvis spoke, all the cameras in the room that provided him with a view turned red, and even some non-lethal weapons appeared, the red dots aimed at Tony.

Tony immediately found the answer in his memory: Tony Stark had designed a series of defenses to prevent someone from impersonating him and fooling Jarvis into the house.

Jarvis would use his own language and behavioral habits to determine whether it really was Tony.

It's normal that I didn't notice it when I entered, after all, I really am in Tony Stark's body, so my physical characteristics are definitely not wrong.

But once inside, his behavior was definitely different from Tony's. In fact, people who knew him well could also notice. But since he had his arm in a sling and was pretending to be injured, people would naturally assume that his behavior had changed because of the injury.

Jarvis, however, didn't care about any of that. Coupled with his behavior after entering the house and his habit of talking to himself, he immediately activated alert mode and began the verification process. If he answered incorrectly, these stun guns wouldn't hold back.

Of course, Tony, who had all the memories, didn't have to worry and quickly answered Jarvis's verification question.

The blinding red light immediately returned to normal, Jarvis continued to ask.

"Sir, would you like to update your feature database? Also, my database tells me it cannot explain the reason for your sudden change."

"Let's update the characteristics. Isn't it normal for behavior to change after suddenly experiencing a huge trauma?" Tony asked curiously.

Jarvis replied mechanically, "Your situation doesn't match existing medical data; it's more like a split personality developing into a new one. However, based on your data, the split personality wouldn't be exhibiting its current characteristics. The existing data cannot lead to a reasonable conclusion."

Tony asked cautiously, "Do you have any Chinese novels, online literature, or religious texts about demons, exorcisms, etc. in your database?"

"No relevant information has been entered yet. I need your authorization to enter it."

Tony Stark didn't directly connect Jarvis to the internet to update itself and enrich the AI database. After all, everything is available online, and in most cases, Tony would need to manually update the Jarvis database.

"No need to update, it's fine as it is. The main unit is in the basement, right? I'll go check it out."

Of course, we can't update it. If Jarvis discovers concepts like possession or demonic possession, he'll probably be able to draw the correct conclusion.

Tony simply couldn't imagine how Jarvis, having reached this conclusion, would calculate it, whether he would call the police, or simply electrocute him with a stun gun. After all, Jarvis, designed by Tony Stark, was responsible to Tony Stark. Was he, the new Tony, the real Tony Stark? That was indeed a question.

Following his memory, Tony quickly arrived at the underground workshop, the place where he forged his armor in the original comics, where Jarvis's mainframe was also located.

"I need to upgrade your system and update some data."

Although that's what he said, Tony himself didn't know if he could succeed. His brain was racing, searching for memories related to artificial intelligence and the creation of Jarvis, trying to find some one-click, foolproof operation guides. If all else failed, he would just shut it down.

Hiring more housekeeping services and servants in the future seems like a good way to live, much better than having a robot butler that I can't understand.

After searching his memory for a long time, Tony realized that he couldn't change Jarvis's code or control Jarvis's actions, so he could only start to think about whether to just cut off the power to Jarvis.

If Jarvis were controllable, he would definitely be a great helper. After all, I don't understand high technology, but Jarvis could search for information for me and even act as a hacker, which would be very useful in the Marvel universe.

Just as Tony was hesitating and wandering around the studio, he suddenly discovered a precious treasure chest under the worktable.

"There's a treasure chest here too?" Tony didn't have time to think about Jarvis's question and hurriedly walked to the worktable to open the treasure chest.

At the same time, a question also popped into Tony's mind: "What is the pattern to the appearance of these treasure chests? They can't just appear anywhere. Do you expect me to search the whole world like a player in an RPG game? That would work, but if it's not like that, it would be a bit silly for me to search the whole world."

Tony could imagine all sorts of newspapers starting to report on nonsensical stories like Tony Stark sneaking into the red-light district and breaking into women's restrooms.

Since he hadn't opened enough treasure chests and couldn't find a pattern yet, Tony gave up trying to figure it out. He didn't need to pay attention to Jarvis's video recording anymore; if all else failed, he could just shut it down. Tony simply bent down and opened the treasure chest under the worktable.

Open the precious treasure chest to obtain the item "Agreement Three - Protect the Ironclad".

Looking at the name of the item, Tony had no recollection of it, so he took it out and began to examine it. After reading the description, Tony looked at Jarvis's main unit.

"It seems we don't need to turn it off."
