Chapter 14

The Banquet

It's unclear whether the sudden greeting in the parking lot startled Obadiah, but the following week was very peaceful, and Jarvis couldn't detect any unusual behavior from him.

"Jarvis, is Obadiah still not making any moves?" Tony asked routinely while training his telekinesis at the villa.

"No, sir. Apart from making a phone call to the West Asia region after our last meeting, there have been no other unusual actions. These are all routine company matters. However, Mr. Obadiah has recently been meeting privately with several shareholders on several occasions. Based on monitoring of the other shareholders, they appear to be trading shares."

"Okay, then let's continue monitoring. By the way, can't we listen to the phone conversations?" Tony asked curiously.

"We are temporarily unable to monitor the phone. Our computing power is insufficient to break through the satellite's algorithm defenses, and we also lack the corresponding equipment to intercept satellite signals. We suggest that physical intrusion into the satellite is a faster solution." This was also because Jarvis used a gadget to sign a new agreement. Otherwise, if Tony asked such a stupid question, he would be suspected of not being the real Tony Stark.

"Physical intrusion would require launching satellites, which is difficult. Would increasing computing power work? How? By buying RAM? Has the price of RAM gone up recently?"

Jarvis ignored Tony's rambling and asked, "Do you wish to purchase the items needed to upgrade our computing power?"

A screen next to it lists a series of products, some displaying the manufacturer's showcase, and others showing Stark's inventory information.

"You can decide what to buy. Do you want me to install it?" Tony was a little interested. Lately, apart from training his telekinesis, he had been living a very extravagant and boring life. He was thinking of doing some crafts and trying to recapture the feeling of installing a computer in his previous life.

Jarvis quickly calculated that, given Tony's current DIY skills, he was likely to short-circuit the device and burn out the motherboard, so he immediately replied:

"I will control the robotic arm Xiaodai to help me with the installation." As he said this, the robotic arm Xiaodai nodded—or rather, the end of the robotic arm.

"Alright then, is there anything you want me to do?" Tony asked, bored.

The old Tony used to spend his time dating girls, tinkering with new weapons, and doing research. Now, all Tony does is date girls. He wanted to manage the company, but found he didn't need to manage anything; Pepper Potts had already done it all.

All he has left to do is win over Xiao Lajiao, deepen their relationship, and arrange a reliable housekeeper for his company.

But Chili was too busy. At most, she could give herself a video report on the company's situation every day. Recently, she also had to prepare for the new company Umbrella, so she had even less time, which kept postponing her strategic plans.

At this point, Jarvis was genuinely at a loss for what to do.

Jarvis was also a little worried that when he leveled up, Tony might mess around at home, use his telekinesis to create something, and things might go wrong.

The last time Tony used his telekinesis to lift the machinery in the studio, he lifted it too high and then threw it down, smashing through the floor and damaging the cars in the underground garage.

Or, when you're at a party and leveling up, you have to keep an eye on the girls running around the room. Party girls are easy to guard against, since you don't have permission to enter many places, but Tony is hard to guard against. He might take a woman somewhere looking for excitement, playing some kind of role-playing game, like a weird scientist and his female assistant, etc.

As Jarvis becomes more and more human, he begins to understand why humans get tired of taking care of children, and why Tony is becoming more and more relaxed. There is a saying that there is great terror between life and death, and Tony must have been greatly stimulated. Now he is almost giving up eating beef. Of course, in reality, Tony is just a poor man who suddenly became rich.

So Jarvis, after searching for information and doing some calculations, said to Tony.

"Stark is hosting a charity gala in the city tonight, which you are welcome to attend. I also see that Miss Pepper is scheduled to represent you at the gala tonight."

"Okay, let's go here." Tony was also excited when he heard about the banquet. He had never actually attended one before, and he could finally show off his Tony Stark style.

Similar to the original story, Tony drove his luxury car straight to the banquet.

As soon as Tony got out of the car, reporters started taking pictures with their flashes, and they all rushed over to interview him.

Obadiah was being interviewed at the entrance when he saw Tony arrive. He didn't want to acknowledge him, but the last time he saw Tony greeting him in the parking lot from upstairs was too terrifying and eerie.

Before finding a way to deal with Tony, Obadiah didn't want to get too close to him. But seeing Tony surrounded by reporters, Obadiah was afraid that Tony would make some shocking statement that would cause Stark's stock price to plummet. So he could only pretend to be enthusiastic and run over to separate the reporters.

"I thought you wouldn't come. Don't you dislike these kinds of dinner parties?"

"Of course I'll attend the banquet at my own company. I'll also be more involved in the company's operations in the future, so I'll just get used to it for now, and then you can take a break more often."

Listening to Tony's words, Obadiah couldn't keep up the act any longer and began to wonder if Tony knew what he had done and was so eager to make him retire.

However, after careful consideration, Obadiah realized that he should not have been exposed. Could it be that Zaff had been captured by Tony? That doesn't make sense. It's good enough that he was able to escape, let alone be captured by someone else. Who is the terrorist here?

In the end, Obadiah could only assume that Tony was concerned about his health, but the conversation couldn't go on any longer. He was afraid he wouldn't be able to stand being with Tony any longer, so he had to make up an excuse.

"Some friends have arrived, I'll go and greet them," Obama said, gesturing to the guests coming and going at the door.

"Okay, you go ahead, I'll take a look myself." Tony didn't want to be with Old Deng either, and since he happened to see a few beautiful women, he decided to go over and chat with them.

Tony hadn't taken two steps when he was stopped.

"Hello, Mr. Stark. I'm Phil Coulson."

Upon seeing the familiar face, Tony paused for a moment, while Coulson, assuming Tony was waiting for him to introduce himself, quickly added.

"I am Phil Coulson, a senior agent of the Strategic Defense, Attack and Logistics Agency. We need to get more details about your experiences in the Middle East."

"What bureau? Sorry, the name is a bit long, I didn't quite catch it. Could you repeat it again?" Tony said deliberately.

Coulson could only repeat himself, muttering to himself, "The name is indeed a bit long; I've already suggested it to the director. We'd like to schedule a time to learn about your experiences in the Middle East. Time is of the essence in these matters, and I hope we can arrange a time to delve deeper into this issue."

"You should change your names, or at least shorten them." As he said this, Tony noticed Pepper Potts in the center of the banquet. She was wearing a dark blue evening gown and had a fair, beautiful back, just like in the original story, which instantly caught Tony's attention.

Tony didn't have time to deal with Coulson either, and he had no intention of getting involved with Mazefak Man for the time being.

"Um, Agent Coulson, right? You and my assistant should schedule a time. I have some personal matters to attend to first."
