Chapter 68

The Origin of Hulk

Watching the Hulk float in mid-air under his control, Tony was very pleased with himself. It seems that the Hulk is nothing special. I'm determined to beat this boss today. The treasure chest will be opened right here, I said it!

But Tony soon realized something was wrong. As Hulk struggled, Tony found it increasingly difficult to use his telekinesis. It was like holding a large, half-human-sized fish that was struggling more and more. The fish was struggling more and more violently, and Tony was starting to feel exhausted. Correspondingly, his head started to hurt. This was a sign that he was beginning to overdraw his telekinesis.

Tony quickly recalled the "Psychic Operation Manual" and soon found the corresponding description: forcibly controlling an object with a higher energy level or energy value than himself would increase the consumption of psychic power.

"As expected, Hulk is still Hulk; he's not so easy to beat."

Tony had no choice but to throw Hulk directly from the air, not daring to throw him any further, for fear of overdrawing his telekinetic power.

Sure enough, as soon as Hulk was put down, the headache immediately stopped, and his clear perception of his surroundings returned. Hulk rushed over as well.

Since the Hulk couldn't be lifted, surely something else could? The ground beneath their feet rose up, lifting Tony high into the air.

Hulk crashed into the mound of earth, and Tony took the opportunity to land behind Hulk and punch him hard in the back of the head.

The sudden attack caused Hulk to lose his balance, his running steps faltered, and he fell to the ground.

Tony pressed his advantage, pinning Hulk down on his back and raining punches down on the back of Hulk's head.

The perfect enhancement from the T-virus, combined with the optimized power of the Zerg Overmind core, allowed Tony to transform into a humanoid Hulk. A series of hammer blows slammed the Hulk's head into the ground, leaving him dizzy and unable to stand.

But Tony also discovered that even so, Hulk's bones were still very hard. Even though his neck was hammered into the ground, his skull was still not broken. Instead, Tony's fists started to hurt.

And why does Hulk's back seem even more muscular? Is he building up enough rage to unleash his second phase?

Realizing something was wrong, Tony became more cautious.

As expected, Hulk, who was pinned down, suddenly gained a lot of strength and flipped over. He then grabbed at Tony with his big hand, but Tony had anticipated this and used his telekinesis to fly away, floating in mid-air.

Seeing this, Hulk slammed both hands down on the ground, creating a crater of earth that sent rubble and dirt flying into the sky and crashing into Tony.

Tony waved his hand, using his telekinesis to suppress the earth dragon, but just then a Hulk jumped up from behind the earth dragon.

There wasn't time to use his telekinesis, so Tony punched the Hulk who was closing in on him and unleashing his ultimate attack.

Then Hulk slapped him away—literally slapped him away! He was already in mid-air when Hulk hit him like a home run, sending Tony flying like a baseball.

After losing track of the Hulk on the satellite, Ross lost his temper and smashed the keyboard on the computer. After venting his anger, Ross calmed down a bit and gave the order.

"Send small teams into the forest to continue the search. Catherine contacted the CIA to help with the cleanup. I don't want tomorrow's news to report on monster sightings or the crash of a US armed helicopter in Brazil."

Catherine nodded and said, "Understood. I've contacted the airport and they've sent people. Once they're in position, they'll go directly into the rainforest area where Hulk went missing and begin the search."

Despite saying that, Catherine felt that the chances were slim. After all, given Hulk's speed, by the time the reinforcements arrived, he might have already run along the river to the neighboring country.

At that moment, the command vehicle door was suddenly pushed open, and Bronsky, with bandages wrapped around his neck, rushed in. After scanning the inside of the vehicle, he walked up to Ross and said expressionlessly.

"General, what happened? What is that monster? And what's the situation with the reserves? They were all bent over, but they stood up in the time it takes me to put on a bandage. They recovered faster than I could even put on the bandage!"

Bronsky originally wanted to treat his injuries and then go for a walk to see if he needed any help, or to see if there was anyone still breathing who he could treat, after all, they had a bond from fighting monsters together.

After the bandage was finished, I looked up and saw the guy who had been folded up three times was right in front of me. The guy even reached out his hand and said something with concern.

"Hey buddy, are you okay? Need any help?"

The whole thing crashed Bronsky. Is this still Earth? Or are they not T-800s, but liquid metal robots? Otherwise, how could they recover so quickly? Should I consider retiring? With American technology so advanced, will Skynet destroy Earth next?

Seeing that Bronsky was alright, the team stopped worrying about him and continued to treat the wounded special forces soldiers.

The situation is not bad. Hulk does not have the habit of killing everyone. Or rather, as long as you really piss Hulk off and he chases you down, he will not finish you off. Most of the soldiers were just crushed by the collapsed factory components and are not in any danger of death.

Bronsky, feeling dizzy, followed the action team back to the command vehicle. Upon seeing Ross's car, he finally couldn't hold back any longer and rushed into the car to ask Ross for clarification.

Ross was also very happy to see that Bronsky was unharmed.

As expected of the elite soldier I chose, he's still got plenty of energy. He didn't have a mental breakdown after fighting the Hulk, so his willpower is good too. He's a good candidate for the Super Soldier Serum. It's time to tell him some of the truth and win him over.

"That monster is the one you're after."

"That monster is Bruce Banner? That skinny guy?" Banner's image kept spinning in Bronsky's mind, but he couldn't reconcile it with that big green monster.

Ross knew what Bronsky was thinking; he wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't witnessed the Hulk transform firsthand.

"It was him, the product of a successful experiment. The only failure was that Banner conducted the experiment."

Ross's only regret now is that it was Banner who became the Hulk. If someone else had become the Hulk, he wouldn't have needed to capture him. The biological enhancement program would have been completed long ago, and he should have become a five-star admiral.

Although theoretically, five-star generals will no longer be awarded during peacetime, we all have Hulk now, so how far away can war be? No, that's called maintaining world peace.

"You mean, that monster is a biological weapon you created? To replace tanks, or for terrorist attacks?"

Ross paused for a moment, then emphasized, "No, in our plan, the Hulk should be controllable, and that's the direction of our next research."

Bronsky's focus wasn't so much on the Hulk, whom he considered a failure; he was more concerned with something else, asking again, "What about the reserve team? Were they also enhanced? I think they are the truly successful super soldiers."

Ross could see the burning desire in Bronsky's eyes—a burning urge, an intense thirst for power.

"That's another experimental project, Bronsky. How old are you this year? Forty-five?"

"No, thirty-nine, General."

"I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed."

"No, I feel I can fight on until I die, right, General?" Bronsky said, looking at the general as he began to express his opinion.

"I like you, soldier. When we get back, we'll talk about transferring you to my unit."
