Chapter 63
News of Hulk
In the days following Natasha's escape, Tony waited for S.H.I.E.L.D. to come to him again to discuss cooperation, but instead of receiving a call from S.H.I.E.L.D., he received a tip-off from Katherine.
"Tony, General Ross may be going to the company soon to urge Umbrella to hand over the enhanced products as soon as possible."
Tony asked curiously, "Honey, what's going on? Didn't we agree on a time when we placed the order? Weren't we not in a rush then?"
Clearly, their relationship made a breakthrough after their private meeting, focusing on breakthroughs and sex.
However, Catherine is career-oriented and cares more about her future development. Otherwise, given her looks, she wouldn't have chosen to work in the military, and in a high-ranking position at that. Of course, her family background provides support, but personal effort is also very important.
Therefore, the two had a close relationship, which allowed them to understand each other deeply without interfering in each other's lives. This suited Tony's desires perfectly, as he had been corrupted by capital.
After hearing Tony's question, Catherine hesitated for a moment, then thought about Tony's skills. In order to have a better technical exchange, she decided to say something.
"In some unforeseen circumstances, General Ross needs to carry out a secret operation, which requires a strong force of soldiers."
"A covert operation," Tony muttered thoughtfully, having roughly guessed what was going on.
"Okay, I understand. You'll probably accompany General Ross to the company, right? I look forward to seeing you again."
"I'm really looking forward to it too. I feel great that day." Catherine made no attempt to hide her admiration. After all, it really was great. In terms of physical strength and skills, Tony had already received ample training and developed his potential in the short time since he came here.
After hanging up, Tony called Wesker immediately.
"Stop production in the lab. Find a reason: Ross is coming to inspect and wants to receive the goods ahead of schedule. I don't want to hand over any of the drugs early."
Wesker agreed without asking why, even coming up with a reason for his boss.
"Okay, boss. What do you think about the lab being hacked recently? We'll add security equipment, investigate the risk of data leaks, and suspend lab operations."
"Okay, no problem, you handle it," Tony agreed.
Enhancement potions can certainly be produced. Even if we can't get a hundred, we can definitely equip a small team with ten or so.
But if the drug is given to Ross, what role will he have in the major event of arresting Hulk?
If I don't have anything to do, how am I supposed to go to famous tourist attractions to open treasure chests? What if the treasure chests are only available for a limited time and are refreshed by a quest?
Secondly, what if I can defeat the Hulk, the big boss? I'm sure I'll get a gorgeous treasure chest.
Of course, Tony is somewhat aware of his own abilities. Judging from his performance in the movies, he is no match for the Hulk in "The Incredible Hulk," who can constantly build up his anger and unleash it.
But you should try to participate. What if it's the Hulk from the Avengers? Singing a lullaby might quiet things down.
In the original comics, Ross didn't have any super soldiers, or rather, no organized group of super soldiers to capture the Hulk. But now that Ross has a better option, he naturally wants to capture the Hulk in one fell swoop.
If he doesn't deliver the goods, he won't have the potion to create his own super soldiers, which would give him room to maneuver and allow him to join in.
Shortly after Catherine tipped him off, Ross arrived at Umbrella Corporation without prior notice. Many of the outermost security personnel were Ross's men, and they did not stop him, allowing Ross's car to drive directly into the company premises.
However, Ross ran into trouble at the laboratory building and couldn't get in directly.
The entire first floor of the T1 experimental building has been renovated, with the entrance transformed into a long, secure passageway equipped with multiple scanning devices to prevent any form of infiltration, including but not limited to stealth, disguise, and hacking.
The original manual identification and activation process was divided into two parts: security personnel would check it first, and then Jarvis's subsystem, the Red Queen, would check it again.
It is worth mentioning that the Red Queen is completely independent of the external network, only connected to the local area network within Umbrella Corporation, directly physically isolated to prevent external hacker intrusion.
Only at fixed times, Jarvis would proactively control the network access to the Red Queen system from the office building to update data.
"Can't I go in either?" Ross said angrily, looking at the tightly closed door.
But on the monitor opposite him, the Red Queen's image simply spoke coldly.
"I'm sorry, General Ross, according to procedure, unauthorized access is not permitted. Please contact a Level 1 authorized personnel for authorization."
Ross looked at the metal door, wondering whether he should order his men to blow it up, but then he thought that Umbrella was also a business he was cooperating with, so it was good to have tight security.
"Does Tony have the authority? Have I contacted him enough? And what kind of authority do I have?" Ross pressed.
"Mr. Stark has the highest authority. Your authority has not yet been recorded. You are temporarily listed as a VIP."
"Distinguished guest, it's alright." The Red Queen's answer satisfied Ross, so he stopped wasting words with the artificial intelligence and turned to look at his deputy, Catherine.
Catherine immediately took out her phone and contacted Tony. Tony had been living in the office building recently because the villas in the Marbury neighborhood had all become Umbrella Corporation's property, so Tony had given up on renovating the seaside villa.
I plan to move there after Stark Tower is renovated, or maybe I'll look for my future mountain villa in advance, but I doubt there will be any treasure chests there, as there aren't many scenes there.
After receiving a call from Catherine, Tony contacted Wesker and rushed to the T1 laboratory building. He immediately gave Ross a hug, which stunned Ross.
"Long time no see, General Ross, would you like to check on the progress of the experiment?"
Ross thought for a moment. According to his own people's reports, the project should be fine and not a scam, but why was Tony so enthusiastic?
"I'm here to check on the progress of the experiment, but I mainly want to see how the enhancement agent is being produced. I need to take some of the finished product with me now."
After hearing Ross's words, Tony deliberately feigned some difficulty and said, "I'm afraid we can't supply the goods now, after all, there's still quite a bit of time before the agreed delivery date."
Ross had a bad feeling. Could it be a scam? But he still held onto a sliver of hope and said...
"I don't need to take everything, just a portion of the finished products. I need to assemble a small team to carry out a special mission."
At that moment, Wesker also came out of the testing area, and Tony waved for Wesker to come over.
"Let Wesker explain it to you. There have been some minor issues recently that have affected production somewhat."
Wesker repeated his pre-prepared reasons to Ross, successfully diverting Ross's anger towards S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Did you leave any evidence to accuse S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Ross pressed, clearly intending to cause trouble for S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Direct evidence may not be sufficient, but there is some surveillance footage that could prove that Agent Coulson and others acted suspiciously."
"That's enough. Give me the information later, and I'll get an explanation from Nick Fury." After saying that, Ross asked again.
"Are there really no finished products? We don't need too many, just ten or so will do."
Wesker explained, "The T-virus enhancement agents are all produced in a unified manner, and the strains are easy to cultivate, so this batch was slightly delayed."
Seeing the disappointment in Ross's eyes, Tony sensed the time was right and suggested:
"If super soldiers are needed to carry out missions, they don't necessarily need drugs. Umbrella has super combat teams whose members have all undergone Phase I enhancements, and Umbrella also has other biological weapons that can be provided."
