Chapter 90
: Halfway to Success
"Bring the reserves in," Tony said quickly.
Eric realized something was wrong and quickly ordered, "The reserves, attack! Attack T01 too!"
There's no time to hesitate. If we hesitate any longer, Hulk will be slapping his own head after he's slapped T01's. Eric is now thinking, isn't Bronsky not stupid at all? He's just legally leaving the group and running away.
T01 was an experimental product, a disposable consumable, so the action team didn't engage in any dramatic scenes and attacked T01 along with it.
Armored vehicles carrying Stark sonic generators emerged from various concealed locations. Learning from the movie's experience, Tony ordered Stark Industries to work overtime and produce five more sonic generators.
A total of seven machines surrounded Hulk and then activated, sending visible sonic ripples onto Hulk and T01 in the middle of the playground.
The intense shock shattered T01's lightweight bone armor, and the continuous shock prevented T01's bone armor from regenerating in time, leaving it completely exposed.
Hulk was also trapped by the shockwaves from all directions. Under the influence of the shockwaves, his internal organs were repeatedly cut and churned as if they were being put into a meat grinder.
The immense pain finally caused Hulk to lose his balance, and he knelt on the ground, pounding the earth to distract himself from the agony.
At this moment, armed helicopters also took to the sky, several hovering in the air, their missiles already aimed.
"Jericho 1 missile is ready, requesting launch."
"Launch," Eric ordered.
The armed helicopters launched specially designed Jericho missiles in sequence. These missiles removed the characteristics of multiple warheads with a wide range of attacks and focused on enhancing their ability to destroy single targets.
With his movements restricted by the sound generator, Hulk was unable to dodge and was accurately hit by the Jericho missiles fired in succession.
The bullet pierced through Hulk's skin, entered his body, and then exploded with a bang.
The violent explosion sent Hulk flying, blood splattering everywhere. When Hulk stood up again, everyone could clearly see his throbbing internal organs through his torn skin.
"Roar!" Hulk roared again, but before he could finish, the team member controlling the sound wave generator adjusted the generator's direction, and the sound wave enveloped Hulk once more.
Hulk slammed into the ground in anger, and several earthen dragons rose up from the ground, forming a wall that slightly blocked the transmission of sound waves.
Hulk moved quickly, leaping into the air. His powerful jumping ability propelled him directly towards the armed helicopter in the sky.
But just as expected, the prepared armed helicopter suddenly turned and pulled up, narrowly avoiding Hulk's attack.
Meanwhile, huge nets were simultaneously thrown from the cabins of other armed helicopters.
The net ropes directly bound Hulk, suspending him in the air with no room to exert force.
"Good! Got it!" Eric shouted excitedly.
Tony was also very excited. This should be considered a success, right? Even the Hulk can't defy Newton's laws, can he?
Hulk struggled to get the attack helicopters pulling him down, but he was suspended in the air with his feet dangling and unable to exert any force. His upper body was also being pulled by different helicopters, so he could only twist his body desperately, but he couldn't affect all the attack helicopters at the same time and could only hang in the air.
"Try to calm Hulk down." Tony watched Hulk struggling in the air, occasionally pulling the armed helicopter so hard it shook, afraid that Hulk might actually find a way to escape.
Eric looked at Hulk in the air and scratched his head. Although he had managed to control him, how could he knock him unconscious? He couldn't use his powerful weapons, since the ropes would break first compared to Hulk's strength.
"How about I go up and try to knock him out?" Eric was at his wit's end.
Tony rolled his eyes at Eric.
"You also said Bronsky is bloated, but you're bloated too. Did you have any anesthetic or something? His recovery speed seems to have slowed down, and the wound hasn't healed. We'll inject the anesthetic through the wound."
"I'll have someone prepare immediately." Tony's words gave Eric a clue. They hadn't used tranquilizer darts before because the bullets couldn't penetrate Hulk's skin, but now that his internal organs were exposed, they couldn't expect his internal organs to be bulletproof.
Umbrella's preparations for this operation were very comprehensive. They quickly prepared all the tranquilizer darts, all intended for use in the event of T01 going out of control. The dosage was sufficient; even if one shot wasn't enough to bring down the Hulk, there were still three boxes left.
The snipers who fired the first shot are back. Compared to the targets they used to work with, this target is much larger. The first few shots were very accurate, hitting the hole in Hulk's chest directly.
Hulk roared again, his body thrashing about once more, causing the armed helicopter in the air to shake violently.
"Continue, it seems our big friend needs a larger dose," Eric ordered again.
The tranquilizer dart was fired again, and Hulk struggled desperately, shaking his body and swinging faster and faster in mid-air with increasing amplitude.
At this point, the armed helicopters began to realize something was wrong. The Hulk was swinging higher and higher, even reaching the height at which the armed helicopters were circling.
At this height, the ropes were in complete tangles, and Hulk, as if suddenly gaining intelligence, yanked hard on one of the taut ropes at the highest point, using the force to propel himself toward an armed helicopter.
The moment Hulk stepped onto the attack helicopter, he regained his leverage, pulling all the ropes and throwing the helicopter into chaos. Without coordination, it was unable to pull Hulk at all.
Like Tarzan or King Kong, Hulk uses ropes as vines, employing them as tools to fly through the air.
After swinging around for a few rounds, the armed helicopters crashed to the ground one after another, and even destroyed all the sound wave generators under Hulk's control.
"Has he gained intelligence?" Tony asked in surprise, looking at Hulk's sudden change.
"I don't know, but it seems we don't have any weapons to deal with him right now." Eric said, starting to adjust his equipment and warm up.
"Don't worry, if he's not intelligent enough, we can't beat him, but we can just run faster than ordinary people; if he is intelligent, he should be gone. But just in case, contact General Ross and tell him to prepare for the worst."
"Hmm," Eric picked up the communicator, ready to contact General Ross, who was watching from a farther, safer location.
Just as the two were talking, Hulk, who had returned to the ground, looked up and glanced at the now messy playground, paying special attention to the surveillance cameras that were not hidden at all, before turning around and running out of the school.
"Tell the action team not to stop him, but to find a way to follow him. Looks like he's really become smarter."
Could getting beaten up increase intelligence? But Tony didn't have time to think about it. He called Eric to grab a shovel and hurriedly headed to the playground.
In a sense, the mission was accomplished. Hulk shed a lot of blood today, enough to settle things with Ross.
