Chapter 97
The Battle Begins
Chapter 97 The Battle Begins
Banner and Betty drove all the way to Greyburn College for their biological research. This time, with Betty providing funding, Banner wasn't chased away by security guards like a homeless person. The two entered the college smoothly and found Samuel's laboratory.
Seeing Samuel's name outside the lab, and thinking about finally getting rid of the Hulk, Banner couldn't help but squeeze Betty's hand tightly and said excitedly, "Darling, it'll be soon. As long as we eliminate the Hulk, I can be with you."
Betty was also excited, but she remembered what Ross had told her: ignore Banner's actions, Banner would go to the final place on his own. Was this the final place? What exactly was her father's plan? Therefore, Betty remained calm and reminded him, "Can this Dr. Samuel really destroy the Hulk?"
Banner was quite confident: "Yes, we've been corresponding all these years. It's less of his research and more of a joint effort. I've been involved in every step theoretically. According to my calculations, his method is perfectly sound. It's just that I don't have a lab, otherwise I could conduct the Hulk-eliminating experiment myself."
"Yes, I believe you." Seeing this, Betty could only agree with Banner.
The two then went into Samuel's laboratory, only to find it empty.
Eric, watching from a distance on the monitor, immediately reported to his superior: "The target has entered the laboratory. Request permission to commence the operation."
Upon hearing the report, Tony did not immediately issue the order. Instead, he handed the communicator to Ross and said, "Come on, General, I think you should give this order."
Ross, who had been in a state of high excitement after receiving the information from Tony, didn't hesitate. He grabbed the walkie-talkie and said, "Start the operation." Then, remembering his daughter, he quickly added, "Remember to bring Betty out first."
Eric already knew Tony's plan and wanted to please his sugar daddy, so he immediately replied, "Roger." Then, on another command platform, he said, "Start the operation. Remember to send the soldiers in later."
Upon receiving the order, Umbrella's action team immediately cleared the area, and the students in the academy were guided to leave immediately. During this period, Eric used Tony's position as a board member to conduct many emergency drills for teachers and students. Under the lure of credits and bonuses, the teachers and students cooperated very well, and this time was no exception. They quickly cleared the entire academy.
After searching the lab, Banner and Betty found no one, not even a trace of human activity. The dust on the ground told them that no one had been to the lab for at least a month, so the two had no choice but to leave.
Just as Banner stepped out of the lab, staring blankly at the suddenly empty campus, an Umbrella agent in a black combat suit suddenly rushed out from the side, picked Betty up, and ran away.
Seeing this, Banner immediately gave chase, but Banner, who hadn't transformed, couldn't catch up with the action team members who had been enhanced by the T-virus. After running for a short while, he lost track of Betty, and a troop transport truck stopped beside Banner.
Banner nervously looked around, searching for Betty's whereabouts, and also glancing at the troop transport truck that had suddenly appeared. He also kept glancing at his heart rate monitor, hoping to lower his heart rate quickly so that Hulk wouldn't get out.
But the thought that if Hulk didn't come out, he probably couldn't save Betty either made Banner's heart rate rise or fall in a dilemma.
Fortunately, Banner didn't have to worry anymore, because a whole bunch of soldiers got off the truck, each one stronger than the last.
"It's Ross again, isn't it?" Banner muttered to himself, then took off his shirt. He hadn't worn such nice clothes in a long time, and he wanted to save as many as possible.
After taking off his clothes, Banner waved to the soldiers opposite him and shouted, "Come on!"
Banner imagined the soldiers would swarm him and punch and kick him, causing Hulk to automatically transform. But while his plan was good, reality was harsh. After Banner shouted, the soldiers didn't react at all. Instead, they looked at each other in confusion, and the officer in charge even took out a walkie-talkie to contact his superiors.
"Major, the enemy hasn't transformed. Should we make a move?"
Catherine, in the command vehicle in the distance, glanced at Tony and Ross, and at their signal, replied, "No rush, wait until we transform before making our move. Note that this operation is being recorded, so be careful with the language."
"Yes, Major." After receiving the reply, the soldiers continued to wait for Banner to transform.
Banner was confused when he saw that the other side was not moving. But Betty had been captured and a group of soldiers were blocking the way. He knew he couldn't get out without transforming into Hulk. So he started to give himself mental suggestions, hoping that Hulk would come out soon.
"Hulk! Come out!"
"Transform, huh? Haven't you always wanted to come out like this?"
"Get angry, think about Betty getting arrested!" Banner started making connections, even incorporating Japanese storylines, but clearly, aside from getting himself excited, Hulk didn't react at all.
"Hulk, give it your all!" Banner was sweating with anxiety, but Hulk still wouldn't transform.
Banner's mind raced, recalling all the times he had transformed. Suddenly, he saw a soldier of Mexican descent among the opposing soldiers. He immediately began to remember his smuggling attempt: unable to pay, he was dragged into a Mexican's house, forced to kneel, and then the other man began to assault him, his foul hands touching his hair and pressing down...
"Roar! Hulk!" Sure enough, this time it worked. Hulk transformed and charged at the soldiers in a rage.
"Alright, proceed according to plan! Remember, the mission objective is to maneuver and avoid unnecessary sacrifices."
As soon as the captain gave the order, the soldiers sprang into action, moving at lightning speed, each one faster than Usain Bolt. By the time Hulk charged over, he hadn't caught a single one of them, and instead, due to his inability to brake in time, he crashed into the truck, sending it flying.
At this point, Tony left the command vehicle and went to the news reporting vehicle behind it to begin giving instructions.
"In post-production, remember to include close-ups of this video, and ideally, label the soldiers' movement speed next to them. Ordinary people might not realize how fast they are, so add a note saying, 'How much faster than Bolt!'"
"Okay, boss!" The reporter from Infinite Network knew who the real boss was. Even if he didn't, seeing President Christine clinging to Tony, he should have realized that this was the sugar daddy.
The drones provided by Stark, along with the cameras carried by the team members, provided the news van with comprehensive, unobstructed video from the front lines. With just a little post-production editing, it could be released in theaters as a blockbuster.
While offering emotional support to Tony, Christine stared excitedly at the screen and exclaimed, "With this as an exclusive, I'm sure Infinite Network will be a huge hit this time!"
Tony was also confident: "Believe me, this is just the beginning. There are other big moves coming up. With this initial level of attention, the big plan is just getting started."
After watching the live broadcast for a while, Tony felt the time was right, so he turned around, got out of the news van, and began to warm up.
