Chapter 174

: Learning Snake Language

Chapter 174: Learning Snake Language
"You're a Parseltongue? You can talk to snakes?"

After a long while, Neville confirmed again, as if he thought he had heard it wrong.

After telling the secret, Harry felt relieved. Hearing this, he said in detail:

"Once at the zoo, I released a python from its glass case. I don't know how I did it. At that time, I didn't know I was a wizard..."

"Anyway, when it left, I heard it say thank you and goodbye to me."

"A snake... said thank you to you?" Ryan couldn't believe it: "Did you hear it speaking English, or..."

Harry recalled: "It was English with an accent, right? It sounded like someone was speaking through clenched teeth."

"Why not try it?" Vader said, pointing his wand at the quill on the table.

The turquoise feather pen twisted and soon turned into a small green snake. It swam across the table, its triangular head rising from time to time.

"Say something to it, Harry?" Wade said. "Give it an order."

Harry saw that everyone was looking at him curiously, and Padma and Hermione unconsciously leaned back, trying to get away from the snake.

He looked at the magical snake, thought for a moment and said, "Hello? Uh... can you coil up?"

The snake looked at him, coiled up meekly, raised its head and stuck out its pointed tongue, as if waiting for the next order.

Harry relaxed, and he even felt that the snake was very friendly. He looked up at the crowd, and couldn't tell what their expressions were.

Harry felt a slight panic rising in his stomach.

Vader spoke up.

"It seems that you don't realize that the hissing sound you just made was like a snake talking."

He said thoughtfully: "It's amazing... People need to memorize and practice constantly to learn a language. But snake talkers are born with the ability to speak snake language, as if their brains have a built-in translation system..."

Harry relaxed a little and asked in a deliberately casual tone, "Does Parseltongue sound strange?"

"It feels creepy... Anyone who doesn't understand it will seem very advanced." Wade imitated Harry's hissing sound, and then asked: "What does this mean?"

Harry hissed back.

Wade was helpless: "Harry, can you please speak English?"

"Oh!" Harry realized that he had just spoken in Parseltongue again. He thought about it for a moment before saying, "It means 'Hello, please coil up'."

"How do you say 'thank you'?" Vader continued to study.

Harry taught him the same.

"So... don't move?"

"Open?"

"attack?"

"Playing dead?"

Wade took notes as he studied, and Harry was happy that what he had learned could be useful to others, so he gave guidance very enthusiastically.

So everyone listened to them making strange hissing and laughing sounds, and the cold feeling quickly disappeared.

They looked at each other, and then Hermione, who was a top student, took out her notebook first.

"Why are we learning this?" Fred asked.

George shrugged. "Don't you think that's cool?"

Wade tapped the quill snake coiled beside Harry with the tip of his pen and said:
"The most incredible thing about the snake speaker is that I can control even snakes created by magic. Logically, this snake should obey my will, but it obeyed Harry's orders."

"So Parseltongue isn't just about talking to snakes..."

Vader said thoughtfully: "Snake creatures seem to be born to obey the snake speaker, just like the relationship between the inferior and the superior..."

"So... Harry, are you a descendant of Slytherin?" Michael asked.

"It's very likely." Neville hesitated and said, "But I've seen the family tree of pure-blood families...it seems that the Potter family has no marriage with the Slytherin family!"

"Don't be so sure, Neville." Fred put his arm around his shoulders.

"Slytherin has been around for over a thousand years. Who knows how many families his descendants have married into? You know, people who are expelled from a pure-blood family will not be recorded in the family tree, let alone their descendants."

"It seems that there has never been a Parseltongue in the Potter family." Theo also speculated: "Maybe it's the bloodline of Harry's mother..."

"Then why is Harry in Gryffindor?" Michael couldn't help asking, "The Sorting Hat should have sorted you into Slytherin."

"Well... this is also a secret..."

Harry hesitated and said, "Actually, the Sorting Hat wanted to put me in Slytherin, but I refused."

Everyone nodded, and they all thought that he was right to refuse.

……

The professors examined the maze for a week but found no clues except some remnants of khat in the stable.

The other animals in the maze didn't eat anything they shouldn't have. They ate and slept every day as usual without any other worries.

So despite strong protests from students, the maze decided to reopen on Saturday afternoon.

But there was another big event on this day, which was the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Slytherin.

Speaking of which, this game has been postponed for two weeks.

Sirius's case was retried, and the Ministry of Magic sent people to Hogwarts to investigate several times. The Weasley brothers and Harry, who lived in the same dormitory, were often called in for questioning. The competition was therefore postponed to the end of November.

This week it's Gryffindor vs Slytherin, next week it's Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff.

As the first Quidditch match of this semester approaches, the atmosphere in the school becomes heated again, and conflicts between Gryffindor and Slytherin are frequent.

At eleven o'clock, teachers and students began to head to the Quidditch field. Wade went to the Room of Requirement on the eighth floor, opened the Vanishing Cabinet, and a big, shiny black dog jumped out.

He excitedly ran around the room twice, and then turned into a tall and thin man with black hair and gray eyes.

He was wearing a dark grey wizard robe, his hair was cut short and combed neatly, his cheeks had more flesh, his eyes were bright, and he looked handsome in a different way.

"You are Vader? Vader Grey?"

Sirius spoke quickly, and before Vader could answer, he bowed and saluted, then held out his hand: "Thank you very much for your help, Mr. Grey, you have given me a new life."

"Hello, Mr. Black." Wade shook his hand and said, "I admire your loyalty and courage."

The two looked at each other and smiled.

They both had black hair and grey eyes, but Sirius's eyes were droopy, similar to a dog's, while Wade's eyes were rounder and slightly upturned.

Lupin also came out of the Vanishing Cabinet.

"Remus, you're so slow." Sirius said anxiously, "The game is about to start, right? I want to go to the stadium to watch Harry play! Let's get going quickly!"

Before he could finish his words, he pounced to the ground and turned into a big black dog again.

The dog's body seemed to affect Sirius's thinking as well. He turned around twice, swishing his tail vigorously, and then rushed towards the door.

"Wait, Sirius."

Lupin hurriedly pulled him back and grabbed the black dog's tail. Sirius yelped and almost jumped three feet high, turning back to glare at Lupin.

"Sorry." Lupin quickly let go of his hand and explained, "You have now registered your Animagus form with the Ministry of Magic, and your transformed appearance is too conspicuous. The students will definitely recognize you at a glance."

Sirius thought... thought... He shook his head unwillingly, his ears drooped, but he still moved closer to Lupin.

Lupin hit him on the head with his wand, cast a Disillusionment Charm, and the black dog disappeared into thin air.

Then it couldn't wait to open the door with its paws and rushed out like a gust of wind.

"Sirius actually wanted Harry to see him in the audience," Lupin explained to Wade. "Fortunately, he didn't insist on his idea."

Wade was silent for a moment, then asked, "If you want to use the Disillusionment Charm... then what's the point of turning into a black dog?"

Lupin seemed to have just remembered: "Ah... I forgot to remind him..."

Vader: ...You did this on purpose, didn't you?
