Chapter 875

The Wind Rises and the Rain Comes

Chapter 875 The Wind Rises and the Rain Comes
The Metropolitan Life Tower, located on Madison Avenue, is one of New York City's most famous tall buildings. At over 200 meters high, it offers unobstructed views of the entire Upper East Side.

On a clear day, you can see rows upon rows of luxurious apartments neatly arranged from here.

Magnificent architecture, exquisite gardens, a central park like a green carpet, and bright lights...

Everything here makes it feel like a fairy tale world.

The crisscrossing roads divide the ground into a neat chessboard, with vehicles flowing back and forth like a flowing river of light.

However, the weather is terrible tonight. Sitting by the window and looking out, all I can see is dark glass and my own reflection; I can't see the usual scenery.

So, the woman dining in the luxurious rooftop restaurant glanced out the window, then looked away uninterestedly. She fiddled with a soft strand of hair by her temple, looked at the man opposite her, and gave him a happy smile.

Looking up from this window to the very top of the building, in what should have been an empty and cold place, there are now two people standing there.

Beside them was an enormous jellyfish, its round canopy perfectly shielding them from the raindrops falling above them, its tentacles coiling around them to block the cold winds from all directions; the tips of its tentacles were even curved in just the right way, forming two seats.

Below the jellyfish, there was a ring of blue flames. Although the flames flickered and didn't look very strong, they made the surrounding area feel warm and cozy.

These two men were Grindelwald and Wade.

Grindelwald's white hair danced in the biting wind as he squinted at the city, which was shrouded in a hazy mist.

Vader looked up, his eyes reflecting the dark, heavy clouds. He knew his puppet was tumbling within them, like a salmon swimming upstream.

As the first pale lightning bolt ripped through the night, Wade announced softly, "It has begun."

The Seagull Puppet fearlessly flew through the clouds, scattering large amounts of white powder. The tiny particles, like sponges, quickly caught the surrounding moisture.

In this suspended ocean, countless water droplets appeared in the blink of an eye. As the droplets fell, they collided and merged with countless smaller droplets, rapidly increasing in size.

The surrounding temperature gradually decreased, and the originally uniform, cotton-like clouds began to show wispy patterns—the traces of newly formed raindrops stirring up moisture.

Night fell, and thick clouds blanketed the sky. Grindelwald gazed at the heavens and sighed, "What a pity... I can't witness the moment this magnificent spectacle was born..."

He smiled slightly and said, "Would you be willing to explain to me how you did it, Wade?"

"of course."

"De-icing agents and urea, which are commonly used by Muggles, as well as table salt, can all be used for artificial rainmaking," Wade said.

"They cannot create rain out of thin air, but they can absorb the moisture in the air and grow rapidly to form large enough water droplets."

"At the same time, urea can lower the surrounding temperature and disrupt the stability of clouds as it dissolves in water, causing more water vapor to condense."

"I placed them in the middle and lower layers of the clouds to form a large number of water droplets, preparing ample ammunition for the subsequent 'torrential rain'."

"Next, the seagulls will fly over the cloud tops and spray silver iodide and dry ice above them..."

……

Above was a silent starry sky, and below lay a storm-brewing darkness. The white elves, who only flew once in their lives, spread their wings with all their might, dropping large amounts of dry ice and yellow silver iodide powder.

Thick white fog spread out with a "whoosh," causing the surrounding temperature to drop sharply like a freeze spray, forcing the water vapor to sublimate directly.

Just then, finely ground silver iodide appeared. Floating among the water vapor with a crystalline structure similar to natural ice crystals, it acted like a perfectly disguised substitute, luring the shivering supercooled water to gather around it and freeze rapidly.

In the blink of an eye, just one gram of yellow powder is enough to turn into trillions of tiny ice crystals.

Within minutes, a shimmering band of ice crystals formed along the path of the dry ice, guiding the direction of water vapor condensation.

……

"...As large amounts of ice crystals fall, they melt back into water droplets, which collide and merge with the large water droplets catalyzed in the lower layer, growing rapidly like a snowball."

Vader flicked his fingers, using the pitch-black night sky as a canvas and golden magical light as a paintbrush to outline the contours and paths of the rainfall, as well as certain areas that were about to suffer a "saturation attack".

Grindelwald watched intently, his gaze occasionally sweeping across Wade's face.

“This can be called a chain reaction of rainfall,” Wade chuckled softly. “But what truly ignites it is the final step—liquid nitrogen!”

……

White seagulls circled high in the sky, as if lingering over the starlight above.

This is a height that a normal seagull could never reach in its entire life!
Immediately afterwards, the flock of seagulls folded their wings and swooped down, plunging headlong into the "heart" of the clouds—the core, the coldest, and the region richest in supercooled water!
Upon reaching its target, the seagull simultaneously released its final container, from which ultra-low temperature liquid nitrogen gushed forth!

At this moment, there was actually no sound.

When liquid nitrogen comes into contact with moist air, it instantly vaporizes into a vast, swirling white mist, bringing extreme cold of nearly two hundred degrees below zero.

The deadly low temperature spread out like invisible ripples, as if an ice bomb had been detonated in the clouds!
Then...

"boom--"

From deep within the clouds, a twisted bolt of lightning suddenly flashed, tearing through the oppressive darkness of the sky;
Before the light had faded, another, even thicker bolt of lightning rapidly grew like a giant, glowing tree, its "branches" spreading outwards, followed by a series of deafening explosions.

The storm roared, and the convection of gas was instantly pushed to its peak, causing the ice crystals to grow larger at an astonishing rate!

The entire cloud layer seemed to be lifted and stirred by an invisible hand, becoming even more violent and turbulent, filled with destructive power.

A fierce wind swept through!

The rain, mixed with hail, poured down like a burst dam from the Milky Way, crashing down on the brightly lit city below!

The hard bulletproof glass slammed against the wind pressure, making a buzzing sound; dense raindrops pounded on the roof and window sills, producing a burst of sound like machine gun fire.

The sky and earth were dark and gloomy, and the wind and rain lashed the earth wildly, making the whole city tremble under this force.

"Snapped!"

Suddenly, the lights on the Upper East Side went out one by one, and countless terrified screams echoed from the building beneath Wade's feet.

Even the emergency lights failed to turn on for a long time; in the darkness, the elegance and composure of the so-called "high society" vanished.

Arguments, screams, shouts, and cries mingled together. Someone lit a lighter or candle, illuminating the faces etched with fear, making them appear ghostly.

On the rooftop, Grindelwald burst into laughter at that moment!
