Chapter 715
One of our own?
Chapter 715 One of our own?
The expected scene did not occur at all; the Death Eaters' expressions froze on their faces.
The ants didn't climb onto his ankles to gnaw on his flesh, the crab retracted its sharp pincers as he walked by, and the praying mantis stared at him but didn't attack.
The cheetah lay on the ground, its body mutilated, its only remaining eye gleaming red. Yet, when Braun reached out to stroke its broken back, it emitted a low, almost whimpering sound, as if conveying a conversation that only the two of them could understand.
Among the Death Eaters, some dropped their wands, some dug their fingernails deep into their palms, and some made strange "hoarse" sounds in their throats, as if someone was choking them.
Their gazes darted frantically between Braun and Vader, even Voldemort's eyes widened slightly.
Why isn't the puppet attacking this guy?
Could there be some unknown relationship between them?
Or perhaps there's some kind of unspoken understanding between Dumbledore and Grindelwald...
No wonder...
Voldemort suddenly felt that he had seen through some kind of truth about the world.
No wonder Grindelwald has been attacking Muggles so frequently since his escape, yet Dumbledore hasn't tried as hard to deal with him as he did with Grindelwald before... There must be some kind of agreement between the two of them, maybe it's because of their fierce fight last time...
Even among the grey wizards, a subtle commotion arose, but Lucius Malfoy kept his head bowed, feeling as if he were the only one sober in a world of drunks.
……
He recalled how he had secretly run away from the monastery, and before he could even Apparate, he was suddenly struck down by a petrification spell while looking back to see if anyone was chasing him.
Then, the brown-haired youth appeared with the gray-robed wizards.
He kicked the petrified wizard first: "Death Eater?"
After pulling down his hood, he clearly recognized Lucius and said with some surprise, "Malfoy? I didn't expect it would be you who showed up..."
A grey-robed man searched Lucius and found a note, handing it to Braun. The young man unfolded it, glanced at it, and then looked up at the monastery that seemed to have sprung from thin air, a smile immediately spreading across his face.
"So that's what it is... You're carrying a note that reveals your address, who are you planning to give it to?"
The grey-robed wizard had already lifted the petrification spell from Lucius, but with more than a dozen wands pointing at him, he didn't even dare to raise one.
Lucius wasn't the type to risk his life to keep a secret, but when he thought about Voldemort's relationship with Grindelwald, and then about Dumbledore's relationship with Grindelwald...
Cold sweat beaded on the man's forehead. He remained silent, his eyes darting around frantically as he racked his brains for the right words.
Then, as if he didn't need an answer from him, the young man stroked his chin and thought for a while, then suddenly said:
"Hmm... Could it be Dumbledore? Wait, it looks like I guessed right!"
Lucius's heart sank heavily. He subconsciously touched his face, wondering what kind of expression he had shown that the other person had guessed the truth so easily.
However, things didn't turn out the way he expected—the brown-haired youth didn't give him a killing curse, but instead handed the note to someone else to look at, then stuffed it back into Lucius's pocket and patted it on.
"Don't be nervous, I'm not that petty." He chuckled easily. "You can still send it where it belongs, but not now... I don't want to be disturbed when I'm talking to your former owner, understand?"
The term "former owner" is really awful...
But now a prisoner, Lucius lacked the courage to protest. He could only force a stiff smile, nod, and say, "I understand. I'll tear up the note now and won't contact anyone..."
To his surprise, the brown-haired youth's face darkened with displeasure upon hearing this. "How can that be? Do you know how much criticism Dumbledore will face if he does nothing in this matter?"
Amid Lucius's astonished expression, the young man shook his head and sighed, "Foolish people... always demand too much from good people and too little from bad people. So I'd rather be a villain than a saint."
He patted Lucius on the shoulder and said earnestly, "Just do as I say. Don't worry, I'm not being sarcastic... Wait for my signal, understand?"
Lucius: "..."
His neck twitched twice slowly, like a rusty machine, as if he were a marionette.
……
At this moment, Lucius stood in the crowd, watching the young man walk calmly through the puppet, and recalling what he had said before, he felt that there was a lot of information in it.
He lowered his head, and the hood that had slipped down concealed the complex expression that flashed in his eyes.
When Braun's gaze swept over him, the pure-blood nobleman's Adam's apple bobbed with difficulty, as if he had swallowed a thorny truth.
At the church entrance, Vader stared intently at Braun as he approached, his round face devoid of any extraneous expression.
In fact, his fingers, hidden in his sleeve, were icy cold, and his mind was tense.
Those thorny gazes that entangled him were irrelevant, even Voldemort's threat was unimportant; what mattered was...
Why doesn't her own puppet attack this man?
It's one thing if there was no attack, perhaps there was some agreement between the two sides... but why would I allow him to come to my side when I have become so weak?
Vader had actually given several orders in secret, but the puppets were only on high alert for the Death Eaters and the Sorcerers, and remained indifferent to the man who walked past them.
Vader's thoughts were in turmoil, and he even began to doubt the so-called "his own puppet".
Just then, the cloak suddenly fell onto him.
"Don't worry..."
The cloak seemed to sense the child's momentary fear, and explained considerately in an exceptionally gentle tone, "This is one of us!"
—One of our own?
Wade sneered inwardly.
These puppets...are they truly completely loyal to him, allowing a rather threatening man to approach him without his permission?
When you become a child again, you feel weak and powerless. Aside from your parents, you shouldn't let anyone near you! Not even your parents…
As a chill ran through him, Braun approached slowly and gave a graceful bow: "Good evening, young sir."
Wade bit his lower lip until it turned white. He tilted his head back, his childish voice carrying a cold hardness that belied his appearance, and asked directly, "Why can you control my puppet?"
Inside and outside the mirror, everyone awaited Braun's answer.
Braun chuckled, bent down and rested his knees on his knees, and looked at Wade with a smile, saying, "I didn't control them... I just mistook me for one of their own in their IFF system."
Vader's eyes widened instantly. While he felt a slight sense of relief, he was also disappointed in his own alchemical skills.
He looked at the other person and tentatively asked, "What kind of magic is this?"
