Chapter 465
Purpose and Exchange
Chapter 465 Purpose and Exchange
Khalil looked at the person whom he used to regard as his mother, and knew that she took the initiative to greet her loudly and enthusiastically because she didn't want him to call her "Mom" first.
Because Vader knew his real mother and her memory had not been tampered with.
Even though they had reached the door and there was no one around, and there were so many vampires in the room that they could fill a classroom, out of fear of Dumbledore, they still wanted to trick Wade into the room before taking action.
Khalil didn't intend to go against her on purpose. He just turned around and looked at Wade with a very cold look in his eyes.
Even if Wade regretted and wanted to leave now, it was impossible.
Khalil's eyes swept over his neck, his fingers twitched a few more times, his pupils contracted slightly, and his breathing quietly became rapid.
Wade in front of him seemed to have noticed nothing. He smiled with his eyes curved, like a normal student visiting a classmate's home, and said, "Good afternoon, ma'am."
He walked past the plump woman without any suspicion and entered the room.
The woman looked at Khalil and gave him a satisfied and mysterious smile. After he entered the room, she looked around and closed the door behind her.
"boom!"
The sound of the wooden door slamming and the sound of something falling heavily to the ground rang out at the same time, and the floor seemed to jump twice.
Khalil paused in the hallway for a moment before walking in. After entering the room, he saw Wade lying on the ground in a mess, tied up. Baird searched for the wand from him and was observing it in his hand.
"Is this the end?" Scarred Vampire smacked his lips in dissatisfaction and said unhappily, "It's a bit too easy, man."
"Do you still want to fight with the wizards of Hogwarts?" Roberts said happily, "It would be best if there were no casualties... I didn't expect it to be so smooth."
"Who is this kid?" A vampire looked at Khalil and asked, "Are you a vampire too? Why are you wearing a Hogwarts uniform?"
"This is my son. He has some magical talent." Baird said, "Thanks to Dumbledore's [tolerance], he was even willing to accept vampires into the school, which gave us this opportunity."
When he mentioned "tolerance", he emphasized his tone, the sarcasm was obvious, and the vampires all laughed.
"Good job, kid!"
Someone else opened a bottle of wine, raised his glass and spoke loudly.
"Although we didn't have a chance to do it, Baird, everyone here is determined to die before they do this."
The burned vampire suddenly spoke up, and he said coldly: "You won't go back on your promise of reward?"
The laughter suddenly stopped.
"Of course not. The wealth in this boy's vault still belongs to you."
Baird actually regretted it, but under the gaze of the vampires in the room, he still smiled confidently and said.
"That's great!" The burned vampire laughed. "As far as I know, for a wizard like this who has a lot of business dealings, even if he doesn't show up in person, a letter can let the goblins take the money out of the vault. Baird, I just need a letter now."
"Me too." Scarred Vampire said quickly, as if he felt a little embarrassed for not giving anything. He added, "I don't expect more wealth, but the agreed thirty thousand Galleons cannot be less."
"Yes, Baird." Other vampires also chimed in, "With him in your hands, you have an endless supply of wealth. Now you can send us away with just a letter. You won't regret it, will you?"
"It seems that the letters to Gringotts must be handwritten. How many letters can he write in a short period of time? Who should he write to first and who should he write to later? In order to avoid disputes, we should wait until we move to a safe place before writing the letters."
Roberts urged: "I always feel worried in this damn place. It feels like Dumbledore will show up at any time."
Gar hurriedly said, "That's right, we'd better leave now."
As soon as he finished speaking, he felt that Weed Grey on the ground suddenly turned his head and looked at him. For some reason, Gar suddenly regretted interrupting.
Perhaps it was because of the strange calmness in the other person's eyes that the alarm in his mind was about to sound like a sharp whistle.
Gar looked at the room where Lockhart was imprisoned, wondering whether he should abandon his cellmate and run away first.
Baird looked down at Wade Grey, who had been silent since he was captured. He wondered if he was silent because he was too desperate or too scared, or if he was thinking of a way to escape with that insanely structured brain of his.
But he never dared to underestimate this young wizard who had brought tremendous changes to the wizarding world in just a few years, so Baird decisively broke the wand he had found on Wade.
"A wizard without a wand is worse than a Muggle." Baird picked up Wade from the ground, glanced at his nominal son, and said, "Khalil, put away your wand too, don't let him take it away by accident."
"I understand." Khalil said obediently with his head down.
A drunken vampire sneered, "You're too cautious, Baird."
Khalil saw Baird holding Wade and walking towards the fireplace. The slightly plump woman had already prepared a large bowl of Floo powder. He quickly chased after her and said, "Um... Dad..."
"You're not soft-hearted, are you, kid? You're talking about classmate friendship now?" The scarred vampire sneered.
"No, it's not." Khalil lowered his voice, looked at Baird pleadingly, and said, "Ved Grey has a magical item that I like very much... Dad, can I keep it?"
"Of course...what is it?"
The long-cherished goal was finally achieved. Baird was in a good mood and agreed readily.
"It's... a necklace."
Khalil walked over and met Vader's indifferent gaze. He lowered his eyes subconsciously, then reached out and took off a thin gold necklace from his neck, on which hung a shiny golden hourglass-shaped timer.
When holding the time converter, Khalil's hands could not help but tremble slightly, and his originally extremely slow heartbeat became more intense than ever before. "What is this thing, kid?" A thin vampire suddenly asked, staring at the gold chain with inquiring and greedy eyes.
He didn't know what this thing did, but he could see something unusual on Khalil's face.
Khalil's fingers trembled, and before he could speak, Roberts spoke:
"Okay, Tucker. This kid has done a great job today, he deserves a reward. Besides, with 30,000 gold galleons, what magic item can't he buy?"
Tucker looked around and saw that the other vampires seemed to think it was very tasteless for him to covet what the child had in his hand, and he really didn't do anything today, so he closed his mouth unwillingly.
Khalil clenched the timer in his hand and felt pain in his palm.
Just then, Wade suddenly laughed.
"I always wondered why you were so submissive to them... So this is your purpose, Khalil."
He looked up at Khalil, with what seemed to be some pity in his eyes, and said, "But that's impossible...it won't change anything."
Hearing this, Khalil sneered, "Do you think you're the only one who can read? I've also read History of Magic, and I know what happened in the past!"
He was originally only worried that Vader would reveal the name of the time-turner, but for some reason, facing that cold gaze that seemed to be looking at stone, he felt an irrepressible rage well up in his heart.
He would rather hear Wade yelling and denouncing his betrayal and meanness than be looked at in that way.
"Okay, you'll have plenty of time to chat later."
Baird was getting impatient. He pushed Wade to the fireplace, grabbed some takeoff powder and sprinkled it into the fire. The flames suddenly turned green. He walked in with Wade and shouted, "Number 25, Mill Town!"
Khalil had quietly retreated to the door and was about to leave quietly when no one was paying attention, when he suddenly discovered that there was a guy who seemed to have the same goal as him.
The two looked at each other, and Gal smiled awkwardly: "Um... I want to go to the bathroom..."
A surprised voice suddenly sounded in the living room: "What's going on?"
Khalil turned around and saw that Vader and Byrd were still standing in the flames of the fireplace and had not been sent away by the Floo powder.
The people in the room suddenly panicked. Scar Vampire pulled two people out and said, "Let me try!"
He sprinkled the Floo powder and said clearly, "Number 25, Milltown!"
After waiting for a few seconds, the flame did not respond.
"Try somewhere else..." Roberts suggested hastily, "Try the Leaky Cauldron!"
But the scarred vampire was still not sent away.
"This fireplace has been disconnected by the Floo Network!" Baird, who was more knowledgeable than most vampires, gritted his teeth and said with a grim expression.
"What should we do now?" Artemis said at a loss, "Should we take this kid with us to find a working fireplace in the village?"
"Idiot! The Floo Network has been disconnected, which means this place has been targeted by someone for a long time!" The burned vampire strode forward, put a knife to Vader's neck and said angrily: "If you don't want to die, contact the people behind you and ask them to connect the Floo Network!"
Wade smiled, his tone still strangely calm, and asked, "What else? Are you going to make me lose my head? Then the things you want - wealth, security, and the alchemical knowledge in my head, will all be gone."
His eyes swept across everyone's frightened faces one by one, as if his life was not in someone's hands.
The burned vampire narrowed his eyes and sneered, "Arrogant little brat, just because we can't kill you doesn't mean we can't make you suffer a little!"
He turned the blade and thrust it into Vader's shoulder without hesitation.
Gal's body trembled and he subconsciously pressed his shoulders.
But then, he found that the young wizard did not scream, but the burned vampire, who looked very ferocious, showed an incredible expression.
"What the hell! What's going on?"
He pulled out the dagger, only to see that there was no blood flowing from Wade's shoulder, and even no muscle or bone was visible. There was only a pale, mud-like substance at the wound.
"What a shame. I quite like this robe."
"Ved" said, and his arm twisted somehow, and the rope tied around him fell off.
"What kind of monster are you?" asked the vampire in horror, who had little knowledge of the magical world.
"A puppet!" Khalil said in astonishment, "How could it be a puppet?"
"Impossible!" Baird said with a twisted and crazy expression, "I can clearly hear your heartbeat! And the sound of your blood flowing!"
"Oh, you mean this!" The puppet Wade took off a badge from his chest and said calmly: "Recording the sound and then playing it back, even Muggles can do it. But you are lucky - because what you heard was indeed the heartbeat of my master, but it was yesterday."
As soon as the badge left his chest, many vampires discovered in despair that the voice did not come from him.
Baird immediately looked at Khalil fiercely, and Khalil was also shocked and said, "The person who spoke to me before was obviously Wade... Was that also a disguise?"
"Your feeling is correct." The puppet Wade smiled faintly and asked, "Guess when we exchanged, Khalil?"
