Chapter 190
Prophecy and the Road
Chapter 190 Prophecy and the Road
Mihaly flew in circles over the black lake, spitting out fire from time to time, or diving into the lake and then flying out.
But after going back and forth many times, only shallow ripples appeared on the lake surface, and then they quickly subsided.
"It seems that all the Inferi have been eliminated... or their rigid brains have finally learned to avoid danger."
Lupin said, glancing back.
Regulus was the only Inferi guard left of Voldemort, and he was still struggling weakly and ineffectively.
"Sirius, Regulus..."
"Burn it."
Sirius dropped his arms, not approaching his brother, and said coldly, "I'll take the ashes to my crazy mother."
Lupin looked at his face, which was almost as pale as the Inferi, and sighed helplessly:
"Sirius, don't be so childish."
"The war happened more than a decade ago. Regulus obviously realized his mistake, even though he has no chance to turn back..."
"If you dispose of his body so carelessly, you will regret it in the future."
"There is no shame in admitting that you are saddened by the death of your own brother, Sirius."
Sirius' lips moved slightly. He quickly glanced at the struggling Inferi on the ground, then looked away as if he had been burned.
Even though Sirius was considered a traitor and a disgrace by the family, and he looked down on the Black family, it had to be admitted that the brothers had once been very close.
Before Sirius entered Gryffindor, Regulus used to admire his brother very much and was a clingy follower who annoyed Sirius.
"Dumbledore——"
The forced indifference on Sirius's face softened. He lowered his head, his fingers clenched involuntarily, and he begged in a low voice:
"I remember there is a kind of magic... that can exorcise the necromancy among the Inferi and allow the dead to rest in peace..."
It was a kind of profound and obscure white magic that required a huge amount of magical power. Among the few people, only Dumbledore knew how to perform it.
In past wars, they only learned how to expel or even eliminate dangerous creatures like the Inferi. They did not regard them as their own kind, nor would they expend their own strength to give the dead a decent treatment.
This is also because Voldemort's Inferi were basically obtained by killing Muggles, and people hardly thought about the possibility that their relatives would appear in the ranks of Inferi.
But now, this happened to Regulus.
Seeing his once obedient brother still being driven by the enemy after his death, even though they hardly spoke to each other afterwards, Sirius still felt extremely painful.
Faced with such a Sirius, Dumbledore naturally would not refuse his request.
"After this matter is over, I will exorcise the necromancy for him."
Dumbledore said gently: "Sirius, accepting the death of a loved one is a long and painful process. You can be vulnerable and cry. It's okay. We are willing to provide you with any help."
"But I want to tell you that Regulus must be in a better place right now, without pain and trouble. When you meet in another world one day, I believe he will welcome you with a smile."
……
Wade walked slowly along the narrow road beside the lake. In his normal vision, there was nothing here. But he saw green magic slowly swimming, like a group of small snakes lined up neatly.
Then Lupin saw Vader grab something invisible in the air and pull it hard, and then he heard the sound of metal chains clanking when they collided.
Suddenly, a thick green copper chain suddenly jumped out of the water and bit towards Wade like a poisonous snake. Lupin raised his wand and waved it, and the invisible barrier blocked Wade again.
The chain hit with a thud, but still did not give up. It stood up and retreated a little, then immediately attacked the two again.
"when!"
On the side, a spell fell on the copper chain, and the chain fell to the ground as if it had suddenly lost its strength, coiled, and pulled a small boat out of the lake.
The boat emitted a green glow and quietly sailed towards the shore, like a ghost in the middle of the night.
"Professor Dumbledore!" said Lupin.
Dumbledore nodded and said, "I have quieted Regulus down a bit...Sirius is keeping him company."
Vader looked back.
Sirius did not use the glowing spell, so Wade could only see a black shadow. He seemed to be kneeling, or squatting, or rather, like a big black dog squatting quietly.
Lupin once mentioned that after returning from Azkaban, Sirius became a little afraid of the dark. Although he always pretended to be indifferent, he could not hide it from the keen werewolf.
Vader turned his head.
Although he couldn't see the man's expression, he could understand the feeling of losing loved ones again and again.
With a "bang", the boat hit the river bank.
It was a very narrow boat with pointed ends, and it looked like it could only accommodate one or two people.
"Ved, it looks like you'll have to wait for us here."
Lupin turned to the students around him and said:
"I just discovered that there's no way to Apparate here. I'm afraid the only way to get to the center of the lake is by taking this boat."
"Dumbledore and I will go first, you'd better stay with Sirius."
Dumbledore spoke before Vader could speak.
"No, Remus, I think maybe you need to stay."
"Dumbledore," Lupin frowned and said, "I admit that Wade is very good, but he is only a twelve-year-old boy after all. I think I am more suitable than him to face unknown dangers..."
"It's not a question of who is more qualified to face danger, Remus, nor is it a question of ability."
Dumbledore said calmly, and Lupin was cut off from what he was about to say.
"It's just that for Voldemort, he cares more about how much magical power can cross the lake. I think the boat is under a spell that can only carry one wizard at a time."
"That Vider also——"
"He won't be counted. After all - like you said, he's only twelve years old, and his power is negligible compared to my magic power."
"certainly--"
Dumbledore seemed to be concerned that such words would be a blow to the proud young man, and immediately said: "Voldemort certainly did not expect that someone would be more talented than he was when he was young - he always makes such stupid mistakes."
"You flatter me, Professor."
Wade didn't think it was a big deal. His magic power was far behind Dumbledore's, and it wasn't shameful to admit the fact.
According to the custom in the previous life, Dumbledore had eaten more salt than Wade had eaten rice. He was talented and gifted, and had studied magic all his life.
If he could be easily surpassed by Wade, a student who had been exposed to magic for less than two years, it would be an underestimation of the greatest wizard of this century.
The two boarded the ship one after another.
The boat was cast with some kind of magic, so it didn't shake due to the imbalance of force. However, the space was so small that there was no way to sit down, so Wade simply stood like Dumbledore.
A warm hand rested on his shoulder. Dumbledore seemed to be worried that he would accidentally fall off the boat. Wade moved his neck, a little uncomfortable, but he did not reject the old man's kindness.
"Be careful." Lupin warned, "I'll be waiting here. If anything happens, I'll find a way to get there as soon as possible!"
Vader said, "Yes... but it shouldn't be dangerous to just take a small boat. Voldemort also needs to travel back and forth safely."
"Okay..." Lupin took a deep breath: "If there is any uncertain danger, let's return first and we can think of a solution together, okay? We don't have to solve all the problems today."
Wade nodded and said, "I understand."
Dumbledore chuckled softly.
Although Lupin said this to Wade, Dumbledore knew that he was actually protesting to himself.
This made the old principal feel somewhat novel.
This was the first time anyone suspected that he couldn't protect the people around him.
He could see that Lupin didn't distrust him, but he saw Vader as someone he had a responsibility to protect.
Although Dumbledore was far more powerful than Lupin, Vader still felt uneasy and worried when he followed Dumbledore and left Lupin's sight to go on adventures.
Just like parents treat their beloved children, like a miser holds precious jewels, they treat them with great care and treasure them extremely.
……
The boat has set off automatically.
It does not need to be driven, it drives in a straight line towards the green light in the center of the lake, leaving fan-shaped ripples behind it.
The dark lake was bottomless, with only the light from the tip of Dumbledore's wand reflected on the water like star fragments.
Michal landed on the bow, looked around, spread his wings from time to time, and spit out fire into the lake, as if he was still expecting some missed corpses to come out.
Wade seemed to have a vision of a naughty child spitting all over the floor.
Dumbledore stared at Michael, the golden light of the Firebird reflected in his eyes.
"A very unique life form." Dumbledore asked casually, "Where did you find it?"
"In the old Gaunt house," said Wade. "I didn't 'discover' it - I 'created' it."
Dumbledore was silent for a few seconds: "...create?"
"Life Alchemy involves forbidden magic, but it can also be said to be an accidental product."
Wade didn't think there was anything he could hide from Dumbledore, and it would be even more embarrassing if he was caught lying.
Therefore, he briefly told Dumbledore about his actions with Lupin that day, focusing on the figure struggling in the Fiendfyre and even trying to attack them, and only skipped the part where Michael found the Resurrection Stone.
Wade didn't know whether Dumbledore could resist the temptation of the Resurrection Stone now, but the fate of the one who got the Resurrection Stone among the three Peverell brothers always reminded him.
Dumbledore was indeed very interested in the figure. After asking a few questions about the situation at that time, he fell into deep thought.
The boat gently pushed through the lake water, making tiny splashing sounds.
This place is already far away from the shore, but Lupin is still holding up the glowing wand, and the figure standing like a pine tree is very eye-catching no matter from which direction you look at it.
Magic is a power related to the mind. Perhaps because of this, those who have been helped by Vader will always repay him in different ways.
But this is not a cold exchange of interests.
Wade looked at the figure that was getting smaller and smaller, and suddenly said, "Professor..."
"Vader?" Dumbledore lowered his head.
"Why didn't you ask?" Vader said.
"what?"
"How do I know all this... and why do I do this..."
It was very quiet around, so quiet that you could hear people breathing.
Dumbledore didn't seem surprised, nor did he look smug as if "everything is under control". Instead, he sighed softly.
"You know, there are always some wizards who have the talent to see into the future. For example, our professor of Divination, Sybill Trelawney, her great-grandmother is the legendary prophet, Cassandra Trelawney."
"Sybil inherited some of her great-grandmother's talent, but she just doesn't seem to be able to use it very well."
"And in modern times, the most powerful prophet I know is Gellert Grindelwald, who can see fragments of the future."
"The prophecy made him successful and made it easier for him to succeed. But the prophecy also ruined him and made him ignore many things...more important than life and death."
"Before you, I always thought that Sybill was just a fortuneteller who occasionally showed her talent, and Grindelwald was the only prophet of the modern age."
Wade looked over in surprise, and Dumbledore looked at him with a gentle look that was tinged with pity.
"Ved, I don't know how much you have seen, but I want to remind you... Don't overestimate the power of prophecy, and don't fall into fatalism. Prophecy gives us guidance on our destiny, but only you can decide the direction of your future."
……
The boat gently bumped against the shore and stopped. In front of it was a smooth rocky island, only the size of a room. In the center was a stone pillar with a stone basin on top of it.
The stone basin emits a green light.
Dumbledore got off the boat first. Standing on the black rocks, he observed for a while and turned back to ask, "Wade?"
Wade suddenly came back to his senses from his thoughts and hurried off the boat.
Looking at the old principal's robe decorated with stars and moons, he felt surprised but not too surprised.
No wonder Dumbledore never questioned it...it turned out that he had already reached a conclusion in his mind.
prophecy……
After all, what difference does everything he knows have with the prophecy to the world?
Well... there is still a difference -
The future that the prophet sees changes with the actions of the observer; but the plot he knows is a story with a fixed ending.
He had already messed up the story, and he was going to change it even more.
When people come into this world, they always want to leave something behind.
This world gave him a second life, so peace is the best gift he can give back.
Wade thought so as he walked towards the stone basin in the center.
Thanks to my brothers and sisters for their support! I finally got my second badge!!!
