Chapter 619
A Gift from McGee
Chapter 619 A Gift from McGee
Although Ralph had already checked the remaining gift boxes, Wade still remained extremely vigilant -
He directed the two puppets to move all the Christmas gift boxes into the closet space. He sat aside and read a book while the puppets were responsible for opening the gifts.
A half-human-high jellyfish puppet rose from the basement, with dozens of tentacles moving flexibly. It was opening boxes while classifying and keeping records.
All kinds of books, candies, magic props... The most ridiculous thing was that someone actually bought him a daydream feather pen, which made Wade speechless.
There is a label on the pen barrel of the feather pen that says "Inventor: Wade Gray"!
Now Wade is considered a signature product of Aslan Magic Workshop, and Marchionne can't wait to print his name on every product.
Human gifts are all the same, but house-elves' gifts are unique.
Dobby gave him a pair of mismatched socks. Seeing the crooked cauldron and owl patterns on them, Vader suspected that he had knitted them himself.
Zoe gave a painting made of mermaid scales, which looked like the outline of Hogwarts Castle, and it had a colorful effect under the light;
The gift that Harpy gave to Wade turned out to be a few tender yellow chicks. As soon as they came out of the box, they ran around chirping. Cape flew over, got a cage and caught them all in it.
Phil sent a box of herbs, which he must have picked from the Forbidden Forest himself, and there were even a few drops of dew on them.
As for McGee, Wade suspected that he had found out the content of the second project from somewhere, and the gift he sent was actually a jar of gillyweed!
After packing up all the gifts and checking the list to make sure he had not missed any recipients, Wade stretched his stiff shoulders and walked out of the closet.
The bed in the bedroom had been made and the air was still warm, though a little stuffy.
Wade picked up the flying broom leaning against the bed, flipped over neatly, rode on the broom, and flew out of the window. Then he snapped his fingers and the open window closed with a "snap", shaking off the few snowflakes that had accumulated on the windowsill.
The broom drew an arc in the cold wind and fell towards the snow in front of the castle like a meteor, stopping suddenly when it was about to touch the ground.
As soon as Wade set foot on the snow, a crisp "crackling" sound was heard in the air.
McGee the house-elf suddenly apparated to his side and held out his hands expectantly.
"Merry Christmas, McGee."
Wade smiled and put the broom into his hands, asking the elf to take it back to the dormitory.
"McGee, you bastard!"
A scream came from not far away. Zoe, who was a step slower, stomped her feet and had to return to the Ravenclaw Tower angrily.
McGee stuck out his tongue proudly and made a face, not feeling the slightest bit embarrassed about stealing Zoe's job.
After making Zoe angry and leaving, he held the broom in his thin arms, looked up at Wade and said, "Thank you for the gift, Mr. Grey. McGee likes it very much!"
Wade couldn't help laughing and asked, "Have you seen it yet?"
"I watched part of it." McGee said, "The life of a human Muggle is really interesting!"
The gift that Wade gave to the house-elf was a humorous cartoon popular in Muggle society. The content was humorous and vivid, and even without words, it was easy for people to understand and laugh.
"Reading can help people see what the world is like that they cannot touch. Of course, comics can do the same."
Wade noticed that McGee was walking barefoot on the snow, and frowned as he said, "It's too cold outside, let's go back to the castle... Would you like to accept a roll of wool as a gift? Dobby can knit socks, maybe you can too? The school doesn't forbid you from making clothes for yourself, right?"
"McGee's okay, McGee's not cold!" McGee suddenly rushed over and hugged Wade's knees with such force that he almost knocked him down.
The elf tilted his head back, his eyes as moist as glass balls caught in rain.
He said: "The Black Lake is as dangerous as the Forbidden Forest, but Mr. Vader will win! Gillyweed will help you!"
"Thank you, McGee, if the second project is going to the lake, then you'll be a big help."
Wade didn't say that he had already mastered the Bubble Head Charm. He just touched the elf's head and said gently:
"Go back quickly... By the way, remember to share the comics with Zoe and the others, and make peace with them, okay? You shouldn't quarrel with your friends on Christmas."
McGee nodded vigorously, then disappeared with the broom with a "crack".
……
A day passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, the sky became dark.
Wade finally finished all his homework and even found time to write a paper on alchemy. Now Professor Murray required him to publish at least one paper in a magazine every month, and Wade had even prepared the manuscript for next February.
"Please, put the quill down!"
Michael was leaning against a shelf, a bottle of hair oil in his hand, his freshly styled curls smelling of cedar.
He urged, "Weider, if you don't change your clothes, we'll have to go to the dance in our school robes!"
Harry and the others in the Umbrella House burst into laughter. As for the girls, they did not show up the whole afternoon as they were preparing for the dance.
Then they returned to the dormitory and changed their clothes.
Wade opened the wardrobe. A silver-gray silk shirt had a soft luster. Next to it was a dark blue dress robe, the hem of which fell smoothly with almost no wrinkles.
This is the dress that Wade had custom-made at Madam Malkin's robe shop more than a week ago. It was just delivered yesterday at noon.
He changed his clothes and stood in front of the mirror to look around. He felt pretty good, so he walked downstairs to the lounge and saw Michael leaning against the railing.
"How is it?" Michael opened his arms and turned around to show off.
He was wearing a red robe with gold edges on the collar and cuffs, and decorated with gold buttons and cufflinks. There were also several ancient and mysterious magical items hanging on silver chains on his body - a silver hourglass, a long snake biting its own tail, a string of coins engraved with ancient runes, and so on.
Wade couldn't help but take a look from another perspective and found that those were just cool-looking decorations, and the magical aura on them was not as strong as the plates in the kitchen.
"You look like you're ready to kidnap three girls at the dance," Vader commented honestly.
Michael clicked his tongue a few times and shook his finger. "Half, thank you. Half of the girls will be attracted to me."
Wade said speechlessly: "...Give Harry some of your confidence? Even if it's only one percent, he won't have to worry about inviting a dance partner."
"Alas, there's nothing I can do about it. Charm is something that's innate." Michael lifted his bangs and blinked proudly.
